finch replied to BlownNBoosted's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)

At the moment i think i have a set organised, will get in touch with you if it falls through. Thanks Guys

Chasing some 4 spot calipers for a upgrade im doing on my car, the rotors i will be using are e36 M3 discs which are 28mm wide, from my understanding the r33/32 (and maybe 300zx?? (z32?)) also use 28mm discs, correct? basiclly looking for a set of complete working calipers, not worried about pads as i can source my own, but they come with, and have a bit of life left, then all the better anyway thought this would be a good place to ask, Thanks

just had an idea sugested to me, go out and get a '79 320i 2.0L (an example) engine out of a junk yard. Rebuild it and throw into the 318. then turbo it later...... The factory 2.0 had a longer throw crankshasft at 80mm instead of the 71mm of the 1.8 in the 318. I think thats what the difference was. They had the same piston size at 89mm. The big difference was that the 2.0 had a double roller cam timing chain while the 1.8 had only a single roller cam timing chain. Bmw did turbo a 2002 back in the 70's. So the engine can handle it for sure. what do you think??

meaning.... a bonnet scoop?
-
excelent, thanks heaps for that robin. ill have to talk with some bmw people, see whats available etc, but im keeping that info.... the more i think about it, and the more i get told, the easier the sr sounds to do. the gearbox goes in no worries and lines up with the hole and everything. and then nissan nose just needs to be welded on to the tailshaft. i think that ill just go with the sr.... (sigh) would have liked a bigger one, but i probably dont need it, i know i wont need it. maybe later, ill be happy with the 2L turob, ill get some mods for it... he he thanks for all the info guys, really aprechiate it. if you can think of any think else to add, please do
-
ok thanks heaps for that, craved. ill definitly look into it!! how big are the rb20 gearbox's? are they the same as rb25? if not are they interchangable?
-
the 1jz would be a awesome transplant i think, what about the gearbox, tail shaft ect, any idea how that would go? i understand this is a nissan forum, ill ask on a toyota one, but any help/ personal oppinions greatly aprechiated thanks
-
like steering, cornering, braking ect? if the engine was way heavier. would upgrading the suspension and brakes (i know you have to do this with a bigger engine anyway) be the best way to hinder these problems? and get the car handling better?
-
yeah.... thats the biggest problem i have been told.... custom manifold ect.... does any one know much about the 1jz twin turbo soarer engine? how do you think that that would go in the BMW? just trying to look at as many options as i can before i decide. is having a 50/50 wight ratio really important? why? thanks
-
LOL... thinking about the skyline engine in the BMW... does that count?? ha ha yeah robin if you could post that when and if you get a chance that would be awesome, thanks
-
email this guy, [email protected] , its a european parts place in melbourne, they have helped me out a fair bit, not to pricy. dont know, they will probably have to order it in aswell though, other than that cant help you sorry. unless you try and get in contact with the NSW bmw club, they might be able to help you out http://www.bmwclubnsw.asn.au/
-
i actually thought about that couple months ago.... would be a good idea, then get it turbo'd later, he he sorry to hear about your mates bimmer blowing the diff and screwing the tailshaft, i will have to get a better diff though, its got the stock one (non LSD) dont know the specs, but ill definitly upgrade.... thanks for the advice Ronin 09,
-
grrrrrrrr... oh well, ill still try. this 3 weeks has been hell.... i wont make it. it sure does teach you a lesson ill call Qld transport and find out definitly tomorrow, thanks
-
hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows what the law is like at the moment regarding being on 3 month suspension, and applying for a work licence... i got done for 78 in a 60 like 8 months ago (3 points), then got defected month ago (bald tyres that i planned to change that morning untill i got asked to go skating...) (1 point) i have payed the fines and am currently 3 weeks in to the durration of the 3 months cant find any info on the net, i am my own bussiness owner, and have to drive to seminars and meeting etc, oh and im on my Ps, do i have any chance?? thanks
-
thanks everyone for all the response!! and thanks for the links. with the mounts... i had problems with the solid rubber engine mounts (probably just age) but i will defionitly look at getting them upgraded - thanks shite.... a e36 m3 in a e30. that would hammer, probably a bit pricy for me though
-
that will be rad!! thanks for the tip on the "mount from gear box to tail shaft" ill look in to that.
-
why? is that bad thing? yeah, with the exhaust. i wanted to get twin pipes out the rear, but that would be really difficult - ill find a way!!
-
i see, thanks 2guup2, and yes when i do do the conversion i intend to do it properly! no shortcuts. he he.. the old 2002, that would be a cool car to do a transplant in bmw 4cyl arent that great with the exception of a few: the s14 m3 (1986 to 1991) engine have roughly 200 bhp from factory (2 - 2.3L (i think) 4cyl) , there was another version(1990), with up to 240. they are an awesome 4cyl n/a engine i would put one of those in if i thought i could get one cheap and i knew i could get parts that were redilly avaliable... but yes the 6s are a lot better lithium: do you know any major/ minor problems you friend had with his conversion?
-
wow thats some pretty serious power from a 4cyl. could you explain the whole cv joints being a problem please. (im kinda new to cars) i understand what a cv joint is, i think. is what your saying that they would need to be upgraded?
-
i just though that if i could get some power i would see what would be involved in puttting an rb25 in there instead what about the rb20, would that have any advantages over the sr? less tourqe?
-
easily? yeah i was leaning toward the sr. and plus i know a mechanic who has done a sr converion in an e30. thanks for all the response... and that link!
-
cool, thanks heaps for that. i have been told that the engine mounts are not that hard to fabricate. but i wouldnt know for sure. hmmmm didnt think about the rotor.... but i think i rather not do a rotory though (nothing against them) would there be any major benifits getting the rb25 over the sr20? when it comes to mods etc
