  1. Wide band oxygen sensors have come down in price a lot. http://wbo2.com/lsu/sensors.htm I got the 0 258 007 057. I see that motec use the 6066 which uses a bigger opening and is quicker to react but apparently can cause it to be sensitive to exhaust gas temperature fluctuations (probably most likely in a turbo application) because of this. The 7057 was around 150AUD if I can remember correctly. Cheers
  2. If you read on the techedge website they say not to mount it too close to the turbo as they won't read right. The best place is before the cat - probably in the down pipe - that's where we'll mount it. It wasn't as expensive as the ones from the states - all up under 400 AUD with the wide band O2 sensor although I'm not sure how good it'll be.
  3. That's what I've done - got the 2E0 kit with bosch wide band oxygen sensor - it was the cheapest option. I'll get it tuned professionally but it'll be a good thing to be able to check AFR's whenever I want. Cheers
  4. Hi there, Nice results - I've just bought the kit myself - getting the exhaust housing ceramic coated now and will be fitting in December - really looking foreward to it. About the only thing I need now is an oil catch can - you must be running one?? Have you got the 2835 with the .68A/r exhaust housing? Also do you know of anyone on here that's wound the boost up to 18-20psi without decompressing? Sorry for all the Q's - there doesn't seem to be many people here running 2835's Cheers.
  5. Keep us informed - love to see a dyno sheet! Cheers - take it easy until you get use to it!
  6. I had a ca18det s13 - got over 500k's no problems on the highway and would be disappointed if I didn't get over 400 around town. Nice exhaust helped but I think the best mod was a burn't chip. Don't know about the 4 cyl thing - I get the same economy out of my r33gtst - 550 k's.
  7. I doubt it'd come with a tank seal. They're 22 dollars from nissan, or they were when I bought mine. If I did it again I'd just put the bosch external - much easier as the tank is a bitch to get into. The standard nissan pump should outlast your ownership of your car so should be no problems there. Save yourself the petrol headache!
  8. Big job though - the 044 isn't the smallest!
  9. http://www.roadraceengineering.com.wideband.htm Not a bad price! Will probably get it with the exhaust gas temp sensor if I purchase. What do you reckon?
  10. Thanks fellas, I'll see what info I can get on those brands. I can hire a friends dyno dynamics dyno for quite cheap so will probably do it that way. Cheers
  11. Gidday all, I'm thinking about buying a lambia sensor and having a go (carefully) at tuning my car myself. ( have a friend who's tuned a few vl turbos etc) Just wondering if anyone can recommend any brands and know prices? I know my way around my pfc pretty well now - it can't be that hard - just time consuming but a great learning experience. Every time I get my car tuned it costs a good whack - and I'd like to check AFR's every now and again anyway. I saw a thread sydneykid made ages ago about buying a lambia sensor and hiring it out for a week for a fee - did anything come of that? Cheers
  12. I like vl's - hell I had a vh and dad and I put a rb20det in it. But they are crap to work on - maybe not engine wise (hell it's a nissan engine!) but everywhere else. From worn out stub axles, springs falling out the back, to bad plastic interior. Hell the last six holden made was the rotton red motor! Well black but still based on sixties technology. There's just no camparison between a nissan and a holden of the same era.
  13. Should be no problem as 20 and 25 turbos are interchangable. Might be a bit laggy on a 20 though - I see someone here has just purchased a 3037 pro s kit for a 20 so his results will tell.
  14. I would also like to know this as I'm in exactly the same boat - and will have to drive 400k's to the tuner. Cheers
  15. probably upwards of 120,000rpm. more to the tune of 150,000rpm+ I see the Bandag bullet's turbos goto 180000rpm. On our MTU's we've got turbo rev counters - must have a magnetised part of the compressor wheel and a sensor bolts into the compressor housing. They run 3.6 bar boost press @ full noise.
  16. I'll get dad to have a look when it comes back from ceamic coating. I don't think he wants to take the compressor cover off - if he dropped or bumped the wheel the wrong way my new turbo would probably go out of balance.
  17. ID plate numbers: IA 0156J GT2835-56T 100177-5003 Turbine dia: 51.17mm top, 56.5 bottom wastegate dia 35mm inlet compressor 100mm outlet compressor 50mm It's amasing how small the thing is - it must spin like crazy. The turbos on the boat I work on spin @ 56000 rpm - 2070KW per engine. That's nearly 1000 times a second - pretty hard to imagine hey?
  18. It'd have to have a divider between the turbine exit and wastegate - hell if it didn't you wouldn't have to bother with a split dump pipe - the gasses'd be mixing before they get there. Maybe they can move the wastegate over a bit away from the turbine but if they did that it'd still be a big job to get the housing looking right?? How much larger is the 3037 than the 2835?
  19. No gasket in my kit either. The copper wire looks good though - would squash down nicely and heat wouldn't bother it. What does everyone else do? I'll get dad to take some more photos of the turbine wheel bare and some measurements.
  20. I got the kit from nengun - you can check prices on their website - they've probably changed since I ordered it 2 months ago.
  21. I ended up getting the .68 A/R housing as I couldn't get the larger one. Sly 33's got the same kit and I'm pretty happy with the power he's making. Suspension / traction will be the next problem. Should be fun though! If you want I'll get dad to measure the turbine - I'm overseas so won't be fitting / tuning until december. Are you still settled on a gt30? That nice engine really needs a nice turbo! Cheers
  22. Sorry, having trouble with my connection...
  23. ...
  24. Hi all, Just got a 2835 kit delivered and have the exhaust housing off for ceramic coating. If any of you turbo gurus are interested in photos or measurements while its in bits give me a shout and I'll put them in. Cheers
