No - didn't do a dyno comparison between the two air filters BUT car made more boost with the K&N flat panel than the paper filter as it hit the fuel cut. You could also hear the turbo more - not going by that though just the FUEL CUT. If you're making more boost then more efficiency therefore more power. I think the flat panel is a worthwhile upgrade and you still retain the stock airbox.

Hi Cubes, I'd recommend getting a k&n flat panel filter instead of the paper one... I've run both and did notice a difference between them - it was enough to hit the over boost fuel cut (cuts fuel when you have pfc boost control set lower than boost being made) with the only change being from my new paper filter to the k&n flat panel filter. Basically it was dyno day and I swapped the air filter and hit the fuel cut whereaas prior to that it never did. I did do a compare on the dyno - filter and no filter and absolutely NO difference at 254rwkw with the airbox lid off as well. Cheers

The Gt2835 Pro S R33 Drive Experience ?
gtst25 replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hi there, I've still got my 33 gtst with 2835 .68 housing. The only complaint I've got is the fact the boost drops off after about 5000 rpm. They are pretty responsive - not any need to drop back a gear to overtake unless you're in a hurry. I don't think mine has ever reached it's full potential because of tuning - I'll be playing with datalogit and wideband in a few weeks so that'll be interesting. As for kick it hits pretty hard - it's seen off a couple of gtr's with power fc's and has run a 12.7 with girly 3000rpm launch and wheelspin in 1st 2nd and third. I noticed no difference in power with the addition on pon cams and don't believe they are a great cost/smile factor upgrade. It's making 260kw at the tyres atm - dyno figures are hard to compare - if you set them up to sit on the front roller for a power run generally you'll get about a 15 rwkw+ figure. My runs were done strapped down on both rollers. Cheers -
Hi there, For standard 0-100 times (6.02 sec) and standard 0-400 metre times (14.37 sec) check this link to an aristo review. http://www.jzs147.com.au/documents/Supra%2...0a%20Tuxedo.pdf For power output in RWKW check here there's a lot of guys pulling around the 180 rwkw figures dead stock http://www.jzs147.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=542 From talking with owners it seems they feel slower than they are as they are so quiet and put out little fuss. 14's? put it into drive and get off the line nicely! Once you're moving along apparently they go just as well as the supras especially at overtaking speeds. Cheers

Hi fellas, Purchase price for these as long as you don't go too silly isn't the expense - it's shipping, compliance and rego. It's a 95 model - J-spec have been great so far although I haven't seen the car in the flesh yet! I found it was great having experts at the auction yard - if you bid on a car but leave a comment saying don't get this car if it isn't immaculate or whatever the guys will check it out and if anything's sus no go. And there are a lot of sus cars - if you bid without getting it checked it would be totally luck of the draw. There were cars smoking with auction grade four - one even had a leaking heater! They don't seem to take into account for mechanical problems in the gradings. As for interiors all the white ones have a tan interior - leather or cloth. I've seen blue and grey but that's it - not sure if black models come out with black interiors? Have a look on j specs website for pricing - the ones in the lower range are what I am looking at dollar wise but I won't know exactly what it's cost until I'm driving it! Cheers

Cheers fellas - not happy about these bitmap pics - for some reason a heap of my jpeg pics have been changed to bitmap. Plans? Not many at the moment - it'll need some nice wheels to fill the arches, dark tint the windows and make sure the AC works really well! They've got big potential but I've got the 260rwkw '33 for those games - we want something easy to drive - put on the cruise control and enjoy the smoothness for now!
-
Oh poo these bitmap pics won't upload and what a pain - I don't want to purchase a converter.

Hi all, Thought I'd post up some pics of my Aristo which is waiting on the docks in Japan at the moment... I need a 4 door and looking at what's available locally in the same price range made me cringe. I was considering 4 door 33 but I've sort of been there with the 2 door we've got. Here's some stock specs for those that are new to these cars - correct me if I'm wrong: front strut brace same brakes as supra 8 way electric seats 8 speaker stereo system including 2 subwoofers and 6 cd stacker they make about 180 rwkw stock all Aristo V have the legendary 2jz 3 litre twin turbo supra engine Some options mine has: Sunroof Abs and cruise control - you can tell ABS by the horizontal indented line on the steering wheel All cars with ABS have cruise control She's got a logbooked 69000 k's on it and was a grade 4.5 but they found a noise coming form the brake master cylinder so downgraded to 4. The japs generaly look after the aristos unlike skylines silvias etc but don't get me wrong - we looked at a lot before bidding on this one - it took two weeks for us to find it! It's the first car I've bought without sitting in it so I'm excited to say the least. Here's a link to a Aristo article. http://www.jzs147.com.au/documents/Supra%2...0a%20Tuxedo.pdf Cheers

Shoping For A Wideband 02. Need Suggestions!innovative ?
gtst25 replied to robots's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If I did it again I'd go for the innovative unit - my dad and I built the 2e0 kit from tech edge and what a mission - my soldering skills were a lot better by the time we finished. Cheers -
Yep Grepin was getting 312rwkw - 2835 with the larger exhaust housing. Cheers

Hi there, I'd love to see some pics! How does the 2jz drive as an auto? Yep colours - I'm thinking silver but not too keen on the tan interiors. Looks like they've got plently of legroom. The camry look is ok - definately sleeper to the un-suspecting! Cheers
-
Thanks for the replies fellas - any hidden problems information will help. I just found out that it's pretty common for them to crack the top of the radiator then the head so something to look for. Cheers

Hi there, I'm seriously considering importing a toyota aristo - just wondering if there are any owners here with some tips regarding buying, compliance, and things to look out for? These are going heaps cheaper than the chasers and with the twin turbo supra engine they must be awesome cruisers.... Thanks in advance! Cheers

Hi there, I'm really interested in importing a toyota aristo twin turbo auto - just wondering if anyone knows of any importers/compiancers in Queensland that do these? I've seen J-specs line up and they're pretty cheap - I can't think of anything else I'd like to get for the price these are going for (less than 10 grand!) sometimes. I'm prepared to spend a bit more for the right car though. Thanks in advance! Cheers

Hi I'm in for the clutch line as allready have the brake lines - much better feel and no sponge btw. Cheers

Hi there, I've got the 2835 with both housings - atm I'm running the smaller housing and I wouldn't consider running the larger one unless going bigger capacity but then again I hate lag. The member I bought the housing off was running the bigger housing but changed back to the smaller one as there wasn't nuch of a gain - 12 kw but a loss of mid range torque for the rb25. Also Disco who did you speak to about running the 2835 as I'd like to talk to other people using this turbo? Cheers
-
trust pe2 is pretty good - I've got one but make sure you team it up with the biggest cat you can afford, dump and down off the turbo. Don't know about it being almost too quiet - mine's on the limit for me I wouldn't want it any louder 'specially in the 100km/hr drone zone. Took us an hour to fit going slow so not a problem.

Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?

High Temp Coating Of Exhaust Housings And Manifolds.
gtst25 replied to Abo Bob's topic in Group Buys
Is this the black or grey coating? Cheers -
Bloody exhausts - I went through this and it was an expensive exercise. Played with the originally fitted 3'' sys - put in the biggest centre muffler I could and no good. Then decided to fit a well recommended jap exhaust hks hi power silent. Very loud. Now have got a trust power extreme 2 which is ok but I'm not sure about how well it flows - it's tricky playing with exhausts - everyone has their own opinion but at the end of the day it also depends on what sort of turbo you are running as I found fitting my hks unit made the exhaust so much louder. Good luck!

I can't believe so few people have paid up. I've always wanted a set of black 300k guages for my 33 but the 600+ dollar sets from japan are too pricey. I expected to see this thread flooded with buyers - 100 bucks for a cool mod. If it keeps on going on like this I'll have to settle for a set of white dials now if they're still available....
-
Come on guys - there was a lot more people wanting these gauges a couple of weeks ago - I've paid up surely you all can spare the 100 dollars to get these black faces dials made - 300 k speedo kit for 100 bucks is pretty good after all... From what I've seen a very cool mod. Cheers
