  1. I've never been to the wharfs, seen the wharfs or met and wharfies but I think it's a "I heard this wharfie that...." type story that happened awhile ago and now people just get hyped about it. Heaps of insurances, penalties and things that can go wrong these days to risk "thrashing" a car around a wharf.
  2. Pictures now located at: http://www.users.on.net/~blakrok/skyline/ http://www.users.on.net/~blakrok/skyline/bodykit/ Any picture requests just ask...
  3. But is your car? Lemme guess your stripping it out ready for WSID next Wed nite? :)
  4. Lemme guess.... "2nd gear burnout" ?
  5. Yup the same car that came on the terrigal cruise last.
  6. Comparing all my times together i'd say I have a solid 104-105mph in it if I can just nail everything at once.
  7. Burnout doesn't exist in my vocabulary (serious). I dont ride the brake and I only do a burnout in first gear so basically no they wouldn't be sticky sticky but they are certainly better than my Michelin 225's so their is room for improvement it's just a matter of getting used to them. I take out my space saver + jack + subwoofer which is probably 30kg in total. Some cars it helps (less weight) where as other cars it hirts (they need weight over the rear-end).
  8. Well an up and down night for me. 1) R/T: 0.231 60: 2.135 ET: 14.165 TS: 99.26 Nitto: 19psi I did everything the same in this run as I did for my 14.009 which was a extremely light burnout (no smoke), 3000rpm launch and tried to nail the gears the whole way. It felt good but obviously not good enough. 2) R/T: 0.063 60: 2.109 ET: 14.169 TS: 98.41 Nitto: 14psi Forgot to turn my Aircon off haha. Got held up just behind the cars doing the burnout infront of me and completely forgot to turn it off, didnt even realise until I did the U-turn at the top of the track haha. Did my burnout from 4500rpm (instead of 3000rpm) and launched from 4000rpm. I found 2nd gear abit tight but overall it wasn't too bad. 3) R/T: 0.230 60: 2.140 ET: 16.036 TS: 49.83 Nitto: 14psi Launched at 5,000rpm and just couldn't get it in 2nd gear, took me 3 goes. Got my highest ET ever 4) R/T: -0.38 60: 2.061 ET: 14.313 TS: 96.92 No burnout at all, just drove around the water. Launched from 5,000rpm with very slight wheelspin. Found 2nd gear tight again. Interesting night with the Nitto's. Chirped every gear the entire 1/4 and they have great grip even with no burnout at all. Found the car extremely bouncy in the rear end with the Nitto's. They can hold a heap more rpm off the lights which is great but my clutch didn't like this too much, not sure if it was just the heat, stress or the high rpm. I'll be back there next week even if I don't have a grin on my face Edit: My mph is down due to the different tyre sizes. Michelin 225/50/16 = 198.27cm Nitto 245/50/16 = 204.59 So that means 100mph on the Nitto's is 103mph on the Michelin's.
  9. I'm just getting frustrated is all Yeah I went around the water on my last run and even with some slight wheel spin I did my best 60ft of the nite
  10. Well I was happy with my R/T's and 60ft's but it was just from 60ft -> finish line that was the problem
  11. God help anyone that I catch keying my car...
  12. A) You are in QLD. B) You haven't even seen it in the flesh (let alone test driven it). C) I'm looking at more than $16k (but your getting closer).
  13. 10/03/2003 = 14.184 @ 99.94mph / 2.168 60ft Mods done afterwards: * 225/50/16 good Michelin Rubber * Traction pineapples * Koni Shocks * Front/Dump pipe + Cat * Bosch 040 Fuel Pump * Daiken Organic Sports Clutch * 10psi (instead of 7psi) (13mths and 13 runs later) 14/04/2004 = 14.163 @ 100.20 / 2.166 60ft Mods done afterwards: * Greddy Exhaust Cam Gear * Splitfire Ignition coils * 9psi (10mths and 3 runs later) 9/02/2005 = 14.145 @ 102.07mph / 2.167 60ft (1wk and 3 runs later) 16/02/2005 = 14.009 @ 102.07 / 2.089 60ft So basically i've done 26 runs and only improved my time by 0.175sec. My car grips better, holds boost better, is making 20% more power, is pulling harder on high boost, is launching cleaner and yet i've basically made no improvements on my time slip... Every single nite I spectate/compete I see first-timers in R33 GTS-t's and 300ZX's with basically a fmic, exhaust and 10psi boost and doing the same 60ft and same TS as me yet doing 13.5's on their first nite, what gives? Ok so i'm a granny shifter (so i've been told countless times) and i've been working on that over the past month (gained a whole 0.136) but their has to be more to it than just that. I can't be 'that' bad at shifting. Tonight was my first time with some 245/50/16 Nitto NT555R's thinking they could nett me an easy 0.2sec (which i'm sure they will given another few meetings experimenting). My first run I launched like normal (3,000rpm) and it felt like a very clean run (thinking mid-track that I was finally into the 13's) only to claim a 14.165 @ 99.26mph / 2.135 60ft. Then I dropped the pressure to 14psi (down from 20psi) and launched from 4,000rpm to get a 14.169 @ 98.41mph / 2.109 60ft. From their on it went down hill, tried launching at 5-6,000rpm but my sports clutch just cant handle the revs and heats up causing gear selection to be a nightmare. I'm getting very close to looking for a new hobbie because the fun in this is quickly disappearing (along with my bank account)... might be time to dust off the golf clubs again
  14. Missed gears, bad launches, slow TS, arghh better off spectating Ouch Eea00l that sux0rs.
  15. Noobs... it's the hose for the naws... go and buy the biggest bottle you can fit in your boot and hook 'er up !
  16. Sounds like you have pushed past the seals in your master cylinder... as Duncan said... if you sit idling and apply pressure to your pedal does it sink to the floor? Take it to your local brake mechanic and get them to block the rear, then front lines and see if you can narrow it down.
  17. Take the coil out, wrap it in 3 layers of electrical tape. I drove my car for about 6mths with slight coil damage, just dont boost it off its chops and drive like a regular human being.
  18. I'll make the first offer of 150 dorrah for the 'bits' you take off...
  19. F^%king #&^@@%
  20. Not stupid but no sorry looking for more than that.
  21. Ronin you're going alittle overboard however I did swap my std nissan tray for a nismo 1 and picked up around 6rwkw... true story
  22. Ahh geeze no pressure or nothing right!! It's only taken me 12mths to get where I am, it could take me another 6mths to get into the 13's
  23. I actually take-off when I see the 2nd yellow light come on, it gives me consistent 0.1-0.3sec Reaction Times (which is why I win the majority of my races unless i'm up against a Pac "race" Car).Launching on the last (3rd) yellow light will give you a 0.8-1.0sec R/Time
  24. 1. Enter via the competitors gate (old rear entrance for the EC Racetrack). 2. Pay at gate ($45) 3. Park in the pits somewhere and fill out the form you are given (take a pen) 4. Line up at the scrutineering garage with your rego paper, license, filled out form and your entry ticket, you will get a wrist band. 5. Drive your car around to the garage and wait inline to have your car checked over (open bonnet, open boot, check helmet). 6. Drive your car back around into 1 of the 5 lanes and wait (usually about 30-40mins per run up until about 9pm then its about every 20-25mins because people leave/breakdown. 7. When its your lanes go just follow the guy infront of you and the marshall will mark the sticker on your screen and point you to lane A or B. 8. Burnout: You don't need/want to sit and smoke your rear tyres for 3hrs every run because all you are doing is wearing them out. All I do is drop the clutch from 3000rpm, let it spin (as it rolls forward) for about 5m and then just throw it in neutral and roll up to the staging line. 9. Staging: I always like to stage first before the other car, it gives you 10-30sec to settle your nerves, get comfortable in your seat (with your helmet on for a change). On the side tarmac part of your lane you will see a white line across the track, just move forward until your front tyres are close to this line, then watch the top 2 staging lights on the tree. 10. Launch (for me): Clutch in, handbrake off, hold the revs at 3000-3500rpm. When the lights go I just take off like a normal set of lights (so basically part drop, part ride the clutch). If it starts spinning the rears just back off abit, if it bogs well just hold on for a second or 2 until your revs pickup. 11. 1/4 Mile: Nail your gears, treat the car like you hate it or just drive like normal with the throttle flat, each to their own. Don't stop until you are past the big timing towers. 12. Follow the return lane all the way back past the staging around to the garage and grab your timing slip. 13. Repeat until either 10pm or your car breaks Actually... I bet wsid.com.au has this written up somewhere If it's your first nite seriously... don't worry about a burnout (its not required anyway except to scrub off the water) and don't try and cut an 11sec pass. Just learn to stage correctly (without looking like a knob and staging with your rear tyres) and get across the finish line in 1 piece without leaking fluid or breaking your clutch. As you get over those bits your times will drop by themselves... Give me a wave if you see me [MOVEIT] Happy drag racing !!
  25. Err I dunno? They've plugged some big thing into under my dash afew times to look at problems/timing etc. Is that what you are talking about?
