1995 Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec FS
benm replied to GTR_83's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
looks nice, goodluck ! -
Well i've tried this and so far it has given me noticable results. About 2mths ago I taped all 6 coils which gave a noticable improvement. I then replaced #1 and #4 coils with 2nd hand standard coils and got another noticable improvement so obviously the 2 I pulled out were slightly faulty. I spent the last 2 days covering these 2 coils with about a 2-3mm layer of araldite and fitted them today. I let the car warm up for 10mins and then took it for a quick burn and their was a noticable improvement so I left them in there. I had no hesitation and my car felt the quickest it has been in the last 3 or so months. I've just started covering another 2 in araldite (very time consuming coz it takes about 3 days per coil to completely cover otherwise it just runs off and drips everywhere but where you want it). Hopefully by about wed-thu next week i'll be completely done. I bought the twin-syringe 24ml "clear drying" araldite at bunnings for $13. Looks like im using around 6ml per/coil so i'll need to get another 24ml twin-syringe stick.

Trading Post Feedback
benm replied to driftn33's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
My opinion is that the 'trading post' in much much more organised. It is neater and set out better. -
I've been on 5 different dyno's (all at "Dyno Days") and got 5 different results. The funny thing is the more recent the dyno the lower and lower results My first ever result was 203rwkw, now im down to 186rwkw even though i've done things like dump pipe, cat, ex cam gear, spark plugs. I've found a dyno that gives me consistent results everytime so that's the only dyno I use now (and i could sooo break 200rwkw with a stock ECU/Turbo too if I didn't have to sell the damn car grr). I think the only true way of dyno'ing your car is to rip the engine out and put it on an engine dyno in a controlled environment (much to what SK has mentioned above). Dyno (shootout) = depends on the dyno/day/operator. 1/4 Mile = track prep, tyres, car setup, driver ability. Track = tyres, car setup, driver ability.

Here's a pic of a series 2 engine (out of a s1.5 car)

I'd say $17-18-ish depending on the actualy quality rather than the year/km's.

My suggestion would be to take it to the best brake mechanic in your area and explain what happened. You are best off getting new brake fluid (which involves getting them bled). I spent ~9mths with a very bad brake pedal and driving was no fun. It cost well over $2,500 in total, I got everything fixed/upgraded because the feeling of having no brakes is the worst and I was happy to spend money to ensure it doesn't happen again.Once your fluid has boiled, replace it. I boiled/cooked my brakes so badly after literally 2x 10 lap sessions (very average speed laps too) at Eastern Creek that it destroyed my brake system. Pedal went to the floor, pumping it did nothing, had to limp home and it basically spent the next week at a workshop and took more than 5 mechanics and ~9mths of mucking around to get the problem solved. Good quality DOT5.1 will cost about $100 and an hour of their time. Depending on how much damage you have done you may also require new brake pads which could be around $200 all up. It's fun hitting boost and watching that speedo increase rapidly, it's not fun watching the car infront get closer and closer with your foot already firmly on the pedal.

Need Insurance? Want Cheaper Insurance?

Maybe it depends on if you are 80yo or 18yo -

Ouch ... not the easiest to read... maybe just a scan of the printed time sheets would be better...

Good consistency

Sticky rubber?MMMmmmm...

My guess is bigger brakes and too much body/tyre roll. After visiting the UAS Trackday at Oran Park yesterday it seems your not a trackday junkie unless you have Porsche calipers -
Adj. Camgears and Low/Mid Power Improvements

Some people on the forums say that the HKS teeth wear out quicker. To be honest 80% of the 'big powered' Skylines i've personally looked under the bonnet of over the past month have been using HKS so it must be the minority that have warn teeth, im personally using a HKS. The diff in price is about $30 between the cheapest and the most expensive. Edit: Oh and heres a dyno graph of my before/after... it's ~$200 well spent. -
The man hours that musta gone into that car would be amazing. I don't think their was a single standard part that I could see that hadn't been touched in some way.

Famous Insurance Customers - Please Read
benm replied to 2rismo's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I rang up 1mth ago to get a new quote before they sent out my renewal form. The lady told me: * 10% extra if paying monthly. * No "3mth upfront", that is gone and is history. * 12 equal monthly payments. She told me "So basically you are up for ~$250/mth with your first payment being ~$250 due on [blah]". She also told me that the "3mths upfront" was because they'd loan the money from another company to pay their parent company upfront and our payments pay back their loan before the full 12mths is up, this is no longer required. Not a chance in hell I will be paying 3mths upfront with Famous, the service they have shown me (and another forum member whom I work with, he request famous fax out his quote.. 5 days later and after 5 phone calls they faxed out a quote from more than 12mths ago with the wrong details) over the last week is worse than a corner fish n chip shop. Famous is certainly nothing but a backyard operation, im convinced. Famous quoted me $2,300 (or $2,530 if I pay monthly). JustCars quoted me $1,900. If i'm not financial at the time (sh1t... next week actually) i'll simply chuck it all on a credit card and worry about it later as I simply have lost my faith in Famous just with getting quotes and getting info sent out let alone having to actually make a claim. -
Damn if I was cashed up right now your car would be sold, 1 of the nicest looking gtr's i've ever seen free bump.

Yes certainly another interesting EC Trackday (they always are at EC). GDZILR was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I seen his accident from the top of the pit viewing area, their was a very ligh sprinkle of rain and in the time it took myself and Sam to walk 20m it went from light sprinkle to heavy down pour. The green GTR happened to be going thru Turn1 at what looked like 'race pace' which resulted in the back end being lost, then the 4wd musta kicked in and drove him head on into the wall. A very nice collection of Porsche GT3, BMW, Mazeratti, R32/33 GTR, HSV, Silvia cars and I even seen a funny looking boat Hey Merli just remember "It still looks good" (a comment made by Merli as his GTR was sitting on the back of a tilt tray).
