  1. The bit i've heard so much but never understood is the "revs up quicker". I would have thought that the only way to make a car rev quicker (under load) would be to have a more powerful engine?? I can understand the revving on the downshifts but not the accelleration part.
  2. Well that was my last Drag Racing for awhile (doing nite shift at work now) and boy was it fun NOT !! My tyres were dead after the last Wakefield trackday so I knew that traction was non-existent, actually ever since I got the Ex Cam Gear installed (more torque) traction has been a problem. Think i'm gonna have to get some 255's before I go back otherwise I'm just wasting my time. Still rattling off the 2.1's and 100mph passes just can't string everything else inbetween together to get that 13.x pass. Gave Buster a run in my car for the last run of the day just for shits n giggles, he managed a 14.7@100mph I'm sure he had his eyes shut too after being used to 11sec passes in his car. Ahh well if all goes to plan i'll be in a totally different car the next time i'm at the drags
  3. Explain the difference in maintenance costs between a GTS-t vs GTR car for a GTS-t owner like myself? Presently for my GTS-t over the past 47,000km it has consisted of: * Engine Oil * Gearbox Oil * Brake Fluid * Brake Pads * Engine Coolant * Tyres * Air filter cleaner Now most of the above is only a yearly change over, tell me how it is going to cost more for a GTR than it would for a GTS-t for the above? (give or take $100). Over the past 20mths (47,000km) the above list is the only maintenance I have done on my GTS-t and it drives as well today as it does the day I picked it up. Everything else I have spent has either been a modification or replacing a part which I broke (and it only broke because I took it Drag Racing / Circuit Racing, not general daily driving). Sure when you want to start modifying parts it is going to cost more but that is because its either a higher quality part (RB26DETT over RB25DET) or because you need 2 of everything, but I can't see how general maintenance costs would differ by much (if anything at all). The only difference I can see is insurance costs. The biggest issue appears to be the quality of the 15yo engine. You can pickup a replacement engine from $6k or spend double that and get a really good quality engine. Take your $18-24k 89 model GTR an 6-12mths add an engine rebuild / replacement ($6k-12k) and it would still be cheaper/same to buy an 89 GTR.
  4. Don't forget that the cars you see on the mailing list aren't the only cars available. When I was looking at the 300ZX's I got added to the 300ZXTT list and I was getting around 20 cars per day rathr than 1 every 2-3 days. They ranged from $6k-$20k instead of the normal $9k, so their is plenty more to choose from.
  5. Their is a sh1tload more to having a fast car than just pure hp figures. Most of it comprises of the pitcrew knowing their sh1t and tuning/setting up the car correctly.
  6. The Skyline Engine Manual (RB20E, RB25DE, RB25DET, RB26DETT) can be downloaded from here
  7. I bought some stuff to spray in the AAC but it looked like a hard job so I thought i'd check my AFM first. Then I couldn't get the 2 bolts off that hold on the snorkle so I thought what the heck I'll change my air filter (K&N Panel filter). It is dirty but I didn't think like severly dirty enough to cause any issues. I put in just a standard no name air filter (doesn't feel any different in the drivers seat let me tell you) and my car is idling 300% better. It does hunt every now and then but a quick tap of the throttle fixes that. The revs don't drop sharply when I put my foot on the clutch/brake and it hasn't stalled yet. I'll leave this no name filter in over the w/end and if it hasn't stalled by Monday i'll exchange the electrical contacts cleaner stuff for some K&N Cleaning oil and hopefully my problem will be solved.
  8. SK: How did you know my engine bay needs a wash? Thx for the info.
  9. Slightly off topic: Is their something I can spray/do to the hoses to see if their is a vacuum leak? What is the easiest way to find a vacuum leak? I can hear a soft hissing near the fuel regulator which sounds like a vacuum leak that i've never heard in the last 18mths.
  10. I think it was the other way around, you were in my slipstream until the last 50m when you flashed past me at about ~310mph before braking Very interested in the DVD's, are they downloadable? PM me.
  11. The lengths these people will go to just to cause some havoc is unbelievable LMK when you get it back to WSID Matt coz last time I ran beside you I did a PB, even if it was only 0.02sec quicker
  12. Personally i'd be treating those figures as a grain of salt. No F1 Team is going to tell anyone how much HP they have.
  13. If Majanal is racing 2rismo's car I wanna race B-Mans
  14. 9am? It's a Saturday farkin! I gotta sleep in. If I get up early i'll race, if I sleep in i'll be spectating
  15. If it is an R33 GTS-t: Drivers side of the engine just near the oil filter.
  16. ..and don't the commentators know it What time is everyone arriving ?
  17. Very nice GTR, GL with the sale.
  18. Except the later models (or was it the VSpec) that had the Brembo's where as the rest have standard Nissan Brakes? (same as the R33 GTS-t ???)
  19. Zymotic I have the same thought atleast once a week. I have a '95 GTS-t that is in mint condition, in purrs everyday of the week and only gives me an issue when I really push it (ie; Drag racing, Circuit racing - tyres, clutch, fluids). Apart from that it has never seen a mechanic for any issues in the 50,000km (18mths) that I have had it. The biggest thing stopping me is I don't like the idea of having a 15yo car, and I also don't like the interior of the R32 GTR. I think the styling of the R32 GTR still looks quite tough when in good condition with good paint, the styling also hasn't changed from 89->94 so nobody would know that its an 89GTR just from looking at it. A 15yo RB26DETT could need some attention regardless of how it has been treated in the past, it's an R32 GTR... you don't buy them to putt around all day regardless of where you live. To buy a good condition, local, later model R32 GTR (92-94) you are looking at $30-35k which is about $10-15k more than you can pickup an imported 89 model. That leaves a solid $10k for engine problems, paint, interior etc which is a fair whack of money for parts. Hell if the engine dies you could put an R33 GTR RB26DETT engine in for less than $10k which is still going to be in better condition than the later model 92-94 GTR engines. The more Prestigue R32 GTR emails I receive the more I want an 89 model, the more I hear of the bad points that people talk about in buying such an old GTR the more I stear clear of the 89's. If I could trade in my R33 GTS-t for an R32 GTR I would tomorrow but it's simply not that easy.
  20. I have no idea how you worked out that when Merli didn't even mention how many coats of paint the front bar has, please exxxplain... :headspin:
  21. Exactly the turbo im after, damn I need a 2nd job
  22. The hardest thing for dan is that the 1/4 Mile is a straight track with no corner and no braking and no sideways action required, has anyone told him this yet?
  23. Which Car? 14.4sec
