Yup much more sticky and your car may/will behave differently on the strip compared to the normal street roads. Just take it easy the first run (or 2) and don't try and be a hero until you get the 'feel' of it all.

5:30pm will be fine, I usually dont get my first run until 6:30-7:00pm when I arrive at 4:45pm.

I'm guessing the only way to check this is to completely remove the spring and put it on some sort of jig? Would a too soft/hard spring cause axle tramp or is that more a shocks fault thing?

I had that problem about 12mths ago and it was a spiggot bush. When the clutch was in it would make a grinding noise and also whenever I changed gears it made the grinding noise but whilst driving or idling in neutral it was fine. The noise gradually got worse over a 2mth period until I saved up enough to get it checked out. I got the stock clutch replaced at the same time because the gearbox had to come out (for a $10 part). Atleast that way you might have a bit more of an idea of what it'll cost you.
