On an R33 GTS-t i'd be doing this around 180-190rwkw. The standard R33 GTS-t pump is rated at 300bhp which is approx 180rwkw. 400 x 0.746 = 298.4rwkw But lets not get down to the nitty gritty

-
is that the servo at the corner of Cooyong St and Lonsdale St ? If so save me parking coz i'll need a parking spot on fri nite from 9pm-Midnight to do some happy laps of Braddon (by feet)

I agree, if it looks normal then they wouldn't even think to check it (they are lookin for a "pod filter") but if it had Nissan stamped on it then they would never know the difference unless they actually called Nissan and even then (as a Nissan Rep told me yesterday when I was at the local Nissan Shop) "To police would have to call us to find out if its factory or not (the Z32AFM). We dont know either because its an import and we dont have many/any technical details on imported Nissans only Australian delivered cars". After fitting my standard airbox on Monday (sooo much nicer to drive than a Pod Filter) I took my car to a blue slip mechanic in Sth Penrith on Tuesday to have the 'defect notice' cleared ($16.20). The conversation went similar to this: Him: "What did you get defected for?" Me: "They got me for my Pod Filter, can you tell me the ruling on Pod filters?" Him: "Whatever the person infront of you says!" Me: "Uh?" Him: "Mate in my RTA book (that he uses to clear defects) it doesn't even say you have to have an air filter let alone what type of air filter you have!" Me: "So whats wrong with my setup then? (ie; having a pod filter)" Him: "Nothing, as I said you dont even need to have an air filter in place! Pink slips no air filter is needed, blue slips you must have the standard factory equipment" Me: "My biggest problem is that everyone I talk to says something different except for the Blue Slip mechanics." Him: "My suggestion to you is to write a formal complaint letter to the Police Commissioner of NSW and ask in writing for the correct ruling from him." If I could get the 2 Blue Slip Mechanics, 1 Pink Slip Mechanic and 1 Police Officer to all put their opinions of this whole "pod filter" thing in writing to me i'd possibly write a letter as suggested above (and if i win i'd then write another letter demanding a refund for my $120 stock airbox as it wouldn't have been required if the police officer whom defected me got the ruling right in the first place, which I believe i'd be entitled to). ...but thats the least of my worries, right now its getting to the Summernats and back without getting done for my FMIC not being engineered. I *think* everything else is legal on my car, but then again depending on which police officer inspects my car my damn nissan floor mats could be illegal for all he cares

This is when a police officer uses his car speedo to judge the speed that you are travelling at (ie; he doesn't have a radar installed). Was he using a radar ? I don't think (my own opinion i'd have to confirm) that they can get you this way because he is hiding behind a car. Just like a radar on the side of the road can't get you when you are travelling behind or beside another car.

AFP announced NATS blitz starts today 7/1
benm replied to blackdoggette's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I just got word from a reliable source "on the inside" down there that as of 4am tomorrow a crew will be inspecting "everything that opens and shuts". Welp their goes my Summernats, if I go i get defected and if I dont then I miss out (can't get any other transport). Pity... -

It doesn't matter whether it is on a trailor or if he is driving it. If they can "see it" they can inspect/defect it. -
The fuel light is there and it will come on. I drive my car comfortably to between the bottom line and the E and sometimes to the middle of the "E" and then fill it up. The middle of the E = ~62L of fuel required to fillup to when it clicks.

Standard R33 GTS-t rims are 16" and will take 225/50/16 rubber. Pic: http://skylines.pnc.com.au/pics/ben/3.jpg

Diy: Change Your Own Brake Pads (front And Rear)
benm replied to benm's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
My rear pads still squeel 50% of the time (either really soft pedal pressure, or really hard pedal pressure but not inbetween) since the mechanic had black paint spilt on them It could be that this metal shim is just squeeling against the rotor although its highly unlikely coz I have taken the pads out and sanded then put back in to try it again. They have only done around 5,000km so I might just sand like heaps and heaps off them or just go buy some Bendix pads and leave these for trackdays. -

They did the same in '03... blocked the Hwy into Canberra and pulled over any sus cars. They tested how loud my exhaust was (back then it was a 3" Cat-back with 2 mufflers and a 4" tip). I got away with it fine after they got me to rev the car about 4 or 5 times trying to get me haha. I think the only thing they could -really- get me for now is the FMIC because its not engineered. Hrmm do I risk it and take my r33 down park it on fri nite and then drive home again on sat nite hrmm. Or just go down n back on Saturday. -
80,000yen = A$979/mth If you ask me $244/wk ($979/mth) is pretty damn cheap to live in Tokyo City. To get rent down to $244/wk in Sydney you would have to go 45mins west () and that would get you a 4 bedroom house with double lockup garage and small-med backyard.

I think America has the best Street Naming system, its just numbers. 1st Street 2nd Street 3rd Street Makes things very easy if you want to get to 22nd street you just keeeeeep driving. I never got lost when I was walking around, but then again thats coz I didn't venture out too far coz I forgot to take my pistol

I'm out Heard their are gonna be afew women (and cars) in Canberra for some sort of car show (??) this weekend so thats where im heading
-
I'd like to know how you did this? I tried it today and after a good 10 whacks i didnt even put a mark in the center "point" bit. Also the only place I can find so far that sells the Tamperproof T50 is Snap-On and they want $43

I just spoke to a guy at www.willshire.com.au whom was very friendly and helpful. He said that whilst the battery is disconnected teh airbag is a sitting duck. He also said that no workshops will change it over because of liability insurance. So i'm willing to give it a go because at the moment it feels like my current wheel is about to fall off.

What lubricant for R33 RB25DET Gearbox
benm replied to BlockHead's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yup deffinetly the Redline gearbox oil. It aint cheap and it will need a good 1000km to get settled but it certainly made a difference for me. -
Who cares what the car looks like or how much/little power it has ? When I was watching the Dyno Comp at Summernats 2003 their was very well presented commodores etc etc all getting well over 400rwkw. But when an old beat up yellow Datsun 180b that didn't even look roadworthy drove up onto the rollers and produced a whopping 70 something rwkw he got cheered and clapped more than any of the other cars put together. Give it a go I say !!!

True the amount of air flowing etc isn't anywhere near the same but I would have thought that by putting an airfilter over the open hole that it would restrict some of the air. The guy that served me said he tried a K&N panel filter in his VLT and didnt notice anything over the stock filter but noticed an immediate difference when he put the Redline filter in place. Most likely just sale/mechanical dribble again like all the other shops.

So do I but after explaining it to him 3x (remove stock wheel and replace with another stock wheel) he gave me the same answer so I didnt bother wasting my time any further, I could tell he wasn't interested in my business after about the first 5 words. I dropped into Nissan Service/Spare Parts on the way home today and he was even less useful than CRD. He basically said that they don't change the airbag wheel and to just get an aftermarket wheel. I explained to him that using an aftermarket steering wheel on a car that comes factory with an airbag wheel is an illegal modification and he said "How will the police know? They would have to call us and we can't tell for sure because its a Japanese car and we have no record of it". So im still no further ahead. A decent Momo aftermarket wheel plus a boss kit plus fitting im not gonna get any change out of $600

I dropped into my local AutoOne on the way home today and they sell the K&N Panel Filter for $109.95 and the Redline Panel Filter for $71.25 They had a K&N setup on a bench which consisted of a large perspex box with a hole cut in the front with the K&N Panel Filter connected to it. At the back (inside the box) was 2 massive 15cm electric fans sucking the air through the filter. A ping pong ball was in a plastic cylinder and the ball did not move no matter if the K&N Air Filter was in place or whether it was removed with no filter. Excellent airflow if you ask me...

I have the box from UAS (infact I've had it for 11mths and it cost me like $200). But I didn't like my Pod filter, too noisey and it needed modding just to fit in with my IC pipes. Also I didnt have a CAI for it so the only air it was getting was the dirty hot engine bay air. The stock box makes the car such a pleasure to drive now. No wooshing or hissing sounds Edit: Still have the UAS box here too so if anyone wants it PM me an offer

Just spoke to CRD in Silverwater and they told me to remove my standard nissan airbag wheel and replace it with a good condition standard nissan airbag wheel i will need a boss kit worth $150 and thats all they can supply (It's illegal for them to change airbag wheels). I'm guessing Nissan will be the only workshop that can replace my wheel and if thats the case it will be cheaper for me to buy an aftermarket Momo wheel + Boss kit (illegal modification) and have that fitted than to just put another Nissan airbag wheel on. Not happy Jan !!
