Which is the reason why I asked if you had any dyno figures so I could see what sorta power you are making so I know what sorta power is required to physically power the car to a 12sec pass. I think it would quite easily be 75% power and 25% driver talent.

until you blew the turbo

On ya Ed it was a nice run. The next dyno run should be nice after a proper tune.
-
Yup as Steve said, choose a HP figure and build around that. I see way too many people buying the biggest turbo and biggest fmic they can find and it just doesn't work together and they either end up with serious lag or way under the power figures they were expecting.

If only it could be bought online. I've been trying to get some for about 2 weeks now. (Redline Shockproof Gearbox Oil)

Okay guys as promised here are the before/after results of some cheap maintenance + the different between a cat-back and a full exhaust. The graph is shown at the bottom. Spec's: BEFORE - Green line on the graph 1995 GTS-T Series II FMIC (Micks Metalcrafts) 2 Stage Boost Controller (7/12 psi) HKS Pod filter 3" Nismo cat-back Stock ECU Stock Turbo 96 RON Fuel Motul Turbo Oil done 8,000km (Ouch!) Results: 7psi = 168 rwkw 12psi = 192 rwkw AFTER (3mths later) - Red line on the graph FMIC (Micks Metalcrafts) 2 Stage Boost Controller (7/12 psi) HKS Pod filter 3" Nismo cat-back Stock ECU Stock Turbo * 3" Custom 1 piece Front+Dump Pipe * 3" Custom Hiflowed Cat * 98 RON Fuel * New Ryco Oil Filter * New Ryco Fuel Filter * Castrol Magnatec Oil done 2,000km (Car has not been serviced by a mechanic for atleast 15,000km, Just been doing fluid changes and sheee purrrs) Results: 7psi = 185 rwkw (Up 17rwkw) 12psi = 203 rwkw (Up 11rwkw) Conclusion Well as you can see some cheap maintenance and a proper full exhaust system can make quite abit of difference. The midrange power in my car is 500% better now that I have a proper full 3" exhaust. Some of the benefits I (as a driver) noticed after fitting the exhaust: * Heaps better midrange power it almost feels like the Turbo is cutting in earlier * Much more free flowing when you back off the gas it literally just rolls for ever, none of the sudden jerky-ness it just keels going * No difference in the note/sound of the exhaust from the inside the car I don't know how my car drove with just the stock standard Nissan exhaust as the previous owner had already fitted the 3" Nismo Cat-Back, but basically from a novice drivers point of view your exhaust is only as good as the weakest link and if you only have a standard front + dump pipe your absolutely kidding yourself. Go and spend the extra $750 like I did and you'll love it to bits. I have no idea if the ECU has been re-mapped or has an addon-card. I've taken the kick panel off and everything appears to be stock, oem nissan stamp, no extra doobie-whackys etc. If you see me out and about ask me if you can see my ECU as no doubt you'll know what your looking for to work out if its stock or not coz I really have no idea. I'm gonna keep throwing small amounts of money at this car (when I workout a new bank I can rob that isn't local) but keeping the Stock Turbo + ECU and really see what I can get out of it. Their have been HEAPS of people say that 200rwkw isn't possible from a stock ECU/Turbo well im going to get more out of this bitch you just watch me. (Hoping 210+) I plan on changing the HKS Pod to an Apexi filter and also install the f/glass box I have and create an airduct from down on my front bar to feed the engine some much needed cold air. Maybe also 1 of those oil catch can thingy's and urmmm well I dunno i'll keep reading SAU to workout what else can be done. If you have any suggestions throw em hear as i'd love to hear your comments. Ben. [MOVEIT]

Do a search on the maitenence/performance section for "Redline Shockproof Gearbox Oil' Its an absolute must have for any GTS-T. Im still trying to get my hands on some.

rev210 do you have any dyno figures? I'm not understanding much of what people are saying in this thread i only understand dyno figures Im extremely interested to see how you go with this whole plan and the other conversation is interesting. Maybe someone could workout what my HP is at the fly/rear as I dont know what the conversion is. Heres my mods '95 Series II FMIC (Micks Metal Crafts) HKS Pod Filter 3" Custom Front + Dump Pipe (1 pipe) 3" Hiflow Cat 3" Nismo Cat-back 2 Stage Boost Controller (7/12psi) Stock ECU Stock Turbo 203 rwkw @ 12psi Dyno Printout Blue = Yesterdays Dyno Run Red = 3mths ago before rest of exhaust etc. I don't want any more power for the time being I just want to improve launching capabilities (Nismo Suspension which I think needs to be re-setup) and maybe some wider tyres (currently using Falken 225's/16"). I would LOVE to jump on the drag strip down at Eastern Creek but at the moment I'd be too embarressed to either drop a burnout or just axle tramp off the line. Would be awesome if you could do dyno runs after each mod just to see the small increments of rwkw your gaining out of non-standard mods (By non-standard I mean not just whacking on a big turbo and fmic like 99% of the people on here do). I've realised that different cars can make huge differences in performance and power with very similar mods.

If we have someone parked out the front of our house on the street (Live in a Cul-de-sac) my car is stuck up the driveway. Thats coz our next door neighbours lawn is in better condition then the local golf greens so if I got caught going over that he'd have my nads on a plate.
-
I'll be there 100%, if anyone has trouble finding the place (look for my red R33 out the front) or ring me on 0414335030

Pred: during the day the dials are white, at night with the lights on they can be either blue or green (switch) and also dimmed (on the switch) I seriously could not go back to the stock dials (never had them in the first place but im sure you know what I mean)
-
Drive reeeeeeally slowly. I scraped my front bar about 3 or 4 times good before I realised the speed you need to travel and the angles you need to go up driveways at. You'll be over it in a months time. If not then it deffinetly is too low.
-
I was going to say UAS also, I've got them in my car and really I could never go back.

You must have soft shoe's Shelly coz I have the same mats and im starting to notice a warn patch from my right heal. /sues nike !

I know exactly how you feel mate. Not only that but your gf sounds quite distraught from it all. Quite interesting that the cops gave you permission to "get away quickly". Opps sorry office i thought you meant ram them off the road into a tree, my bad
-
Yes the legal system certainly does suck. You should have followed him to either scare the hell outta them or atleast piss him off. In my old car when people would do sh1t to me on the road i'd be like "if only i had a decent fast car i'd do sh1t back knowing i could easily get away from them" Now that my car is relatively quick compared to 99% of the junk on our roads lookout to the next b1tch that crosses me.

The best most rugged floor matts I have ever seen cost me $4. I found a stall at the local wednesday markets and this dude was selling carpet off cuts. They were $2ea and had a hard rubber under-side on them. Had them for 2 years in my Pulsar and you could not tell the difference from when I purchased them to the day I sold them (except for the acid stain on the passenger side when a car battery got knocked over  )

and i'd still probably miss the target Nah its cool if you SAU guys aren't gonna show your ugly faces (I can't see why the hell not) I'll call my brothers down from the hood for a game to fill the spots eh nath !

Ultimate Lame Experience - need my airbox engineered
benm replied to T0nyGTSt's topic in New South Wales
Tell the cop to prove it if its a "Loud Exhaust" What is loud ??? To me about 80dB is loud but to you 110dB might be loud ! How is he to know ? Not only that but when they do use the dB probe-thingy to test your exhaust dB get out of the car and watch them do it. I forget the exact measurements but they must be X cm away from the car and Xº to the right of the exhaust (think its 45º) and then rev your engine to 3,000rpm in neutral. If you let the cops walk all over you they will.
