  1. "It took 11mths, but we got it" I think were his words. Apparently now Jamie Whincup only has to finish 19th or better in the remaining races to win the Championship so I think it's safe to say he is the 2008 V8SC Champion.
  2. My trailer is living in the garage, I got it made 13x6 (instead of 13x6'6) so that I have about 5cm either side of it to squeeze into the garage. If it was the standard 6'6 it wouldn't fit and would instead be living in the backyard under a tarp. I didn't escape the rain though, in the 2 days it took for them to build it it rained and so I have some paint issues, but it's only a trailer not a show car. Duncan: He would only build the Aussie Race Car Chassis as they are 100% aussie made, where as my nascup car is 100% imported from USA in kit form then I just have to bolt it altogether myself and fit my hayabusa. 10 to do by Xmas eh, I asked him if I could do some work experience at the workshop afew arvo's a week just to learn basic mechanic stuff and he said he'd organise the insurance policy. I'll have to ring up and remind him again. Fatz: 13x6 with a 150cm draw bar although for the same price you could also get 12x6'6 or 13x6'6. I don't work for Unique, I just bought a trailer from him, best to call Peter at Unique and get the details of the QLD shop he builds these trailers for.
  3. Whats the schedule for tomorrow?
  4. Yup it's been a wild weekend of racing so far. Another dud for HRT so far though....
  5. It's called age, 15-20yrs worth of it.
  6. Every time my mechanic took my gtr for a drive around the block to check things after servicing it he would always try to convince me to convert it into a rally car (he works on 1600's & 1200's rally cars all day long).
  7. Picked up my trailer today, $3000 on road, the guys at Unique did a pretty good job. First time i've ever driven with a trailer, not difficult just more concentration like when driving a small truck (except it's twice as long). My van could definitely do with another 50hp and double the torque though Damn bastard to move around with the tandem axel, easy to roll with the jockey though which was worth every penny. Now I just need to buy a little electric winch! It fits in the garage which is perfect, not much room at the front but I need to throw that fridge out anyway and I can easily push it out whenever I need the floor space.
  8. Give peter a call at the Sydney shop and find out. I ordered my trailer from him yesterday so should get it in the next day or 3.
  9. He sent a truck full of freshly built trailers up on Saturday morning....
  10. meh i'll add my little bit in.... Second run of the night at WSID, 8000rpm clutch dump and well the clutch dumped and the flywheel shot off into the crowd in a thousand million pieces with a $20k repair bill.
  11. Well this will be easy fixed, i'll just get it 6' wide instead 6'6 then it will fit permanently in my double garage beside the race car.
  12. Ouch $1000-1500 to get a car trailer galvanized
  13. Marlin that actually looks like a trailer from 'Unique Trailers' (re: bobby) as its exactly the same design even down to where the plate is fitted also the sealed off inner guards which I havent seen on any other trailer except 'Unique Trailers'. They have recently opened a shop in QLD too and send them up from Sydney. I spent about 4hrs trailer shopping on Saturday. That exact design in 12x6 tandem with used rubber from 'Unique Trailers' is $2950 on road with flat or beaver tail. The build quality is very good and Peter was great to deal with. 'Austrailers' want $2800 on road for the same design in 12x6 but flat tail with side rails. They had 1 in the yard which looked like it had been there atleast a month as the brakes were rusted over and a couple of other little joins had started to rust (possibly just due to lack of paint prep in these areas rather than poor workmanship). I could have taken that 1 for $2600 cash on road but kept looking. The guy there was extremely helpful and they obviously know what they are doing due to the amount of stock they were pumping out. 'Elf Trailers' wanted $2250 for 12x6 + blueslip + rego + GST but to me it would be too much mucking around getting it blue slipped and rego'd when the other 2 shops offer the same design for basically the same price on road. The interesting think I found was that due to the jigs they have setup for the standard car trailer sizes (12, 14, 15 x 6) that to get a custom made 10x6 single axel would cost me the same because it takes longer for them to measure and cut etc so i'll just get a 12x6 tandem and be done with it. The biggest problem now is that I keep being told by neighbours and friends whom have owned many trailers to make sure it is galvanized if im not prepared to strip/paint it yearly if it sits out in the weather (which is something I definitely don't want to do). My trailer will only be used about 15x a year so their is no reason why it shouldn't ever look anything but brand new. I'll have to ring Unique + Austrailers on Monday to find out pricing on galvanized to see what the price difference is. If it's only a couple of hundred i'll get it done but any more and i'll just get regular paint I guess.
  14. /waits for 1 of Duncan's brilliant MS Paint drawings....
  15. dog balls
  16. Make sure the bbq is undercover johnny!!!
  17. I'm sure it wasn't that price last year though, maybe Skaifey is getting a cut of the ticket price for his going away present...
  18. Think about your mountain bike when you were a kid, big rear spocket for steep hills and small sprocket for going down hills
  19. Racing friday night?
  20. Can anyone recommend any other trailer companies (Sydney only) apart from; Austrailers, Unique Trailers, BM Trailers, Mario Trailers. Based on my car specs (600kg, 2500mm wheelbase, 1500mm width, 3900mm length) i've had everything recommended from 10x6 to 12x6, single and twin axle and priced from $1800-$3000.
  21. Just noticed the ticket prices for general admission at Oran Park, Saturday = $54 and Sunday = $64. And they wonder why spectator numbers are down compared to years ago...
  22. For the price you couldn't get a better circuit wheel for an r32 gtr than stock r33 gtr wheels.
  23. That looks like an interesting idea, can't quite work out how they bolt up though. What are they called and where can they be purchased from?
  24. That's true. At the beginning of the year at 5am in my work van I was travelling along the M4 to discover a car sitting stationary in the middle lane that had been in an accident and as I hit the brakes (locked up the tyres) a 10kg box of books the size of a VCR box flew from the very back of my van, bent/broke my trolley and bent the cargo barrier and that was braking from 100->50km/h with my dodgy brakes. Good times
  25. I agree with what you say, it was all abit crazy but seriously how difficult is it to deploy a safety car and get it right. It's not as if the whole safety car concept was created a month ago it's been happening since day dot.
