  1. perfect for parking up at springwood shops
  2. I hope they have a bus load of scrutineers to check over all the entrants, going to take them a month otherwise.
  3. Have you ever picked up and felt a race suit? Tried 1 on? A friend and myself decided we were both going to buy a good suit because we were on the serious side of private trackdays and just wanted the extra safety that a suit provides. Our plan was to go to a local retailer, work out what we wanted then order it from overseas for about 25-30% discount (same brand, same sizes as Australian retailers). I can tell you now that before buying my Sparco safety gear I went in to the Australian Distributor a dozen times before handing over any cash. I spent probably 2 hours trying on different model Sparco suits and I can tell you that just because they were the same size (number) they certainly weren't the same fit. Some were slightly longer in the legs but tighter around the belly, others were longer between under arm and hips, they all fit different between the various models even though they are made in the same factory and the same brand. Even after all that time spent trying on I got the suit home ($1,000) wore it around the house for a few hours over various nights just to get it to adjust and also to get used to the feeling of being in a suit like that and I still took it back and got a higher model that fit slightly better (Sparco X-Light $1,500). The difference between the $400 "overalls" and a $100 proper suit is massive and then up again to the $1,500 suit was quite astonishing. The weight differences are amazing and the additional fire protection is also considerable. Edit: The same can be said for helmets. Buy the $150 job from a motorbike shop and you will get only $150 worth. The more expensive they get the lighter they are, the better ventilation they have and much better face screens on them. It really comes down to, how much can you spend and the more you spend the safer and more comfortable everything will be.
  4. Heaps of room available along "Peter Brock Drive" which runs down between the M4 McDonalds and the Eastern Creek Go-Karts. It's only about 500m off the M4 and Reservoir Rd Exit.
  5. You won't fit there either because it will be full of trucks. It only takes about 5 b-doubles and that parking lot is full.
  6. Are you guys using standard road tyres, semi slicks or drag radials? Most of those 60' times look terrible! I used to get consistent 1.6's in a 32 gtr with worn out Nankang tyres, your cars should be matching that with ease!
  7. Make sure you give the Tearooms a call a full week before you go with your expected numbers so that they can put on extra staff for the day and order in more food, it's only a tiny kitchen.
  8. You can't book "all the lanes". Competitor gates open at 10am so you want to be there by 9:30 to 9:45am at the latest and line up at the gates with other competitors. The first 220 through the gate get to race, everyone after that is a spectator or goes home. After you have been scrutineered you line up in the lanes behind the start area that the officials appoint you to based on the type of car you have or the expected ET. The only benefit to "booking a lane" is so that if you have a group of a dozen or more mates that you want to race against it makes it much easier to line up against them instead of mixed in with everyone else.
  9. Gotta love the post-quali interviews. BBC interviews Horner and ask him if it was strategy for Vettel not to post a time. He said straight up that it was strategy and starting on new medium tyres compared to everyone in front being on used softs will move them up the field. The very next interview is with Vettel where the same question was asked and he said that he locked a tyre and had a brake issue that prevented him from completing a fast lap.
  10. Both semi and full slick tyres will be better than standard road tyres however only if they are warmed up properly. By properly I mean you will need to do a burnout for a handful of seconds and even then the fronts wont get any warmth. You will need to do this for every run too! Braking will also improve, but once again only if they are sticky and your brakes will need to be up to temp properly anyway which they never will be for this type of event.
  11. You didn't look hard enough Browse the FIA GT section
  12. The race was quite enjoyable to watch. Very wet and they certainly aren't afraid to bash their way past each other! Only 6 rounds and not a huge field but it will be fun to watch over the next 6 months. Those Audi R8 LMS cars are just insane, the best sounding race car I think I've ever heard. I'm more excited about next years Bathurst 12hr than this years v8sc Bathurst round.
  13. I have no issues with what Vettel did. I want to see the worlds best drivers racing the fastest cars for the entire race, not until 20 laps from the end then turn everything down and roll around until the chequered flag. If your car won't last the entire race tough shit, if you don't have enough fuel tough shit, if your tyres are going off tough shit. I want to see hard racing (which lets face it, the best racing of the whole race was Webber vs Vettel during that controversal overtake) Now.... time to watch the GP2 race so I can look for Webbers replacement.
