  1. I'm modifying the factory setup (won't have the plastic handle) but not using the internal lock.
  2. Nearly finished the door trims, they are cut to size and fit perfectly but I just need to tidy up underneath so they sit flush at the corners (the whole thing will drop lower about 5mm in the pictures). I cut everything out with the jigsaw, touched afew bits up with the grinder then paid ($5) to have the 90deg bend done across the top because I wanted that to look neat. Then I need to mould the corners better so their are no sharp bits and make sure the door shuts properly without rubbing on anything. The hardest bit now will be trying to pop rivet it down to something behind because their isn't much left I also bought a 6m length of 8mm round bar for $12 which I will bend up to make the support frame for the perspex windows, need about 2.5m for each window. I'll leave the window in until i've moulded this round bar so looks like its another trip to Bunnings to buy a bending device Edit: They'll be painted to match the exterior colour.
  3. I got quoted $3k to make a custom loom from scratch with the factory loom and wiring diagram available as a guide and this is with my car 100% stripped so they wouldn't even have to remove any interior or anything.
  4. These events rely on a high number of spectators to keep the sport going. On saturday I did a rough count of 350 people watching the event the entire day. Of these 300 my guess would be that 50-60% own an import so already know about the sponsors that are being advertised on the cars so those sponsorship dollars are a waste of money because they are only advertising to people that already know of them. The other 40-50% of spectators were older people (mums n dads) and they have no need for a HKS Exhaust on their Camry. Their was 1 display at the back and this was Toyo the main sponsor so they don't even count, how many import shops are based in Sydney and yet none had anything on display? Hell these days even Autobarn and SuperCheap sell import parts yet they weren't even on display. The sponsors wouldn't be making a cent out of their drivers because the drivers would get parts either free or at a discount. They did however have a high amount of radio advertising for this event and with the weather being perfect for racing I was quite surprised to see such a low attendence.
  5. I watched rnd8 of the british gt last night and it was actually quite an interesting mix of cars.
  6. If you change turbo's without changing the dump pipes you may as well go headbutt a wall.
  7. GTS-t with GTR front guards.
  8. GM will never go out of business and close shop and this car will never fix their financial issues. The easiest way for GM to revive themselves as the leader in car producing is to flood the market with electric cars.
  9. I think if Toyo pulled out of this sport it would crumble within months.
  10. To be honest I didn't rate the day very highly at all. The sun was hot and constantly had to look into it, no shade at all, only 1 display and the crowd was about 1/3rd of last year. The best thing about the day was watching cars smack side on into the tyre bundles.
  11. lol 2 gtr's worth of spares wont be enuff parts for all the expiring gtr's
  12. rofl thats abit further south than me (about 25mins) however the weather is very similar (if anything it rains harder in that area than Penrith as it moves over Liverpool). On another note I have a big 4 bedroom house with 3 bedrooms spare
  13. What page number in the online catalogue are you looking at for these harness?
  14. Well i've had no issues with the jigsaw so far. I've cut out a rough template on the alloy and just need to tidy up the edges to make it a snug fit. I clamped the alloy down onto a pair of outdoor wooden seats and whilst spraying some WD40 along the cut line the jigsaw blasted through it and left quite a neat finish. If I need to do long straight cuts i'll clamp down a straight bit of timber beside the cut and allow the jigsaw to glide along beside that. It does have that laser beam which is extremely handy, glad I spent the extra $20 to get that feature. Realising that some of the inner door bracing sticks out I went and bought a little Bosch grinder and i've started to cut away the bracing so it's all flat. Once it's flat and the alloy fits right i'll then cut out select pieces of the bracing to reduce weight whilst trying to keep the door rigit. I'm going to bend it over at the top and meet it up within a few mm of the window, not sure how i'll bend it yet but that's the last area i'll work on. I might be able to find a nice rounded bit of scrap metal and whack it around that. It'll be getting sprayed white so that should hide any minor mistakes.

  16. Why don't you make those air deflectors? Grab a scrap bit of alloy from your local fabricator - rubber mallet, drill, snips and an hours fun. I picked up some big sheets of alloy today, might make some with the left over bits i'll have.
  17. Any updates to the alloy door trims + replacement windows? I bought a couple of sheets of 2400x1200x1.6mm alloy today and a new bosch jigsaw and plan to figure this out over the next few days. I want to retain the factory handle locking mechanism, remove excess bracing then mold it at the top so it sits flush with the replacement windows.
  18. Headlining, whats that? The only original interior that will remain in my car is the dash - everything else is already getting dusty in the garden shed
  19. I was planning on getting my mechanic to custom make welded side mounts so that it will sit practically on the floor because I will need all the headroom I can get with a cage + helmet in there.
  20. It had a miss between 2-3000rpm so trying to get it to move when releasing the clutch was an issue as duncan found out a couple of times. So apart from John in the boat who had the quickest time?
  21. It was way laggy compared to my 2530's however yes driving style could be changed slightly to allow for the T88.
  22. BBL - Steven I managed to get about 35 laps as passenger in it giving some directions. His first time on the track, 383awkw on 17psi with a T88 with a very expensive bottom end. Was quite laggy but hammered down the front and back straights once over 5000rpm especially with that screamer pipe.

  24. Remove the factory fuel tank, cut the spare tyre area out and mount a round tank in there.
  25. So whats the damage Steveo, anything major?
