  1. No worries, go and buy $1300 worth of stuff and haggle a 10% discount as I did, then claim it as a business expense (which it is for me) and the $300 shelf price suddenly drops to a more attractive price.
  2. Until you get to the last turn at Wakefield Park Raceway
  3. Yes it is 1200kg (since when do you lift an entire car from a jack, usually its front or back only then place stands under it immediately). 90mm lowered 450mm raised. On my standard wheel/suspension r32 gtr it wont fit under the front lip because the base of the handle wont slide under but if I roll the car up onto a 25mm block of timber its totally fine. As I said their is certainly better out there (maybe more than $299 though) however in the end it only cost me about $150 so im very happy.
  4. What surge tank are you using?
  5. The R32 GTR has front brake ducts from factory, if you don't have any just buy them.
  6. I believe the perspex is about $400/sheet (place on Newbridge Rd in Moorebank does it) and you will need 2 sheets if you leave the standard front window.
  7. The finger out the window was to check on the wind direction to line up that reverse into the bay wasnt it Pete!
  8. What is the best engine run in procedure for track cars (ie not road registered so cant be driven to Bathurst and back) ?
  9. Bad launches all day not to mention the track was extremely cold so the conditions were ideal anyway.
  10. Many people spend thousands on a complete brake overhaul but never do something that is cheap and simple - COOLING. Spend a weekend and make up some cooling ducts for your front brakes, it will make a nice difference and cost you hardly anything. I agree with djr81 in that the skyline brembo's aren't like the racing brembo performance they are the povo pack street car standard and aren't worth what people constantly ask for them (not to mention they are a good 10-15yrs old).
  11. Yup im up for prices on the premade windows also Mr Baron.
  12. I finally bought myself a new jack on the weekend, way too many years using a K-Mart $10 special. It cost me $260 (normally $299 but I bought $1300 worth of stuff) from GasWeld and is 16.1kg. It is not super low and doesnt have 1 of those little quck pump levers but it does fit everywhere I need it to and is a million times better than what I had before.
  13. 1. Any idea on how many metres of cage was used? 2. Normal full exhaust or side exhaust? 3. Keeping ABS + wipers or removing? 4. Complete dash or just gauges/cluster?
  14. A great thread - been looking forward to his as im doing an almost identical setup and im at a very similar stage. Jaon - The 18" tyres are the best value for money (along with 16") the slicks are only slightly more expensive too.
  15. It's not a real car unless you have to cut a hole in the bonnet to make the motor fit!
  16. What is a decent yet cheap piece of data logging hardware? (ie for the ~5 trackday a year hack more into fun than setting records) ? Oh any by cheap I mean under $1k.
  17. The distance I drive to work each day would be enough in Europe to get me from 1 side of a country to the other.
  18. YouTube pfft, got every qual/race on xvid
  19. Are you saying that $3k for an 8pt molly cage is expensive?
  20. Offer him $100, he has 2 hoists and 2 other jacks what does he need that 1 for? I'll offer him $150 and see what he says!
  21. This is the first GP in a loooooong time that i've actually felt like watching again...
  22. I was at Jamie's workshop today and asked about the Snap-on low-profile jack, $450.
  23. I assumed it was to seal off the rear end, just had never seen it done that way is all.
  24. Excuse my ignorance but what is the idea of the rear firewall, apart from making it look cleaner?
