I wouldn't say that having to shift down each gear is a problem, well except for additional wear to the gearbox. I'd take a sequential over the H in half a heart beat!
1989 R32 GTR - 101,000km, PowerFC, Mines Cat-back, Twin Pods, 2-stage bleed valve @ 12psi = 212awkw
Had a full exhaust at home, and adjustable cam gears fitted that are yet to be tuned in, so next time hoping for around 240awkw.
You know im in bitch! (spectation only).
Just didn't want to say anything because i'd jinx the weather! Just got back from WSID, a top night of "off-street" racing (yeah right!).
I've been following skaife since the Amaroo Park days many moons ago (remember when he was in the Sega car when Winfield went down). I also think Tander is a great driver with a long career ahead of him and have met him at trackdays a couple of times, it's awesome to finally have them in the best Holden team in the field.
What the hell was Lowndes thinking in race 2, bumping his way through the field just like Ingall would a few years ago. He lost more positions than he gained in turn 9 cutting over the curb and pushing both cars wide.
Then he took it 1 too far and tried it on Courtney only to get what he deserved. He thought he had the corner but forgot that Courtney had the inside line and was still up in the inside before Lowndes just plain turns across infront of him.
Lowndes boss in the pits (the pommie bloke) just expects that everyone step aside for his 888 driver which won't happen.
Well done to BOC and also Cameron with good results (would have been normal results had the 3 fords not crashed out) so they were lucky with that 1.
Bad luck to HRT in this round with that front suspension problem. Tander definitely had the pace to be in the top 3, Skaifey just couldn't find the right setup.
Well Tander was right up there until something went wrong (anybody know what went wrong, I havent looked yet) and Skaife was sitting solid in 10th race so the cars are capable of winning. Just comes down to luck and track position now.
I wouldn't say that the R35 "launched hard" (have no idea what the 60ft time is) it just did what the ECU makes it do. If you want to see a GTR launch hard watch DirtGarage do a 10sec flat in his R32 GTR and you will see a front wheel lift off the ground, the back end squat and it just zooms off like nothing else.
The 180SX cooked the launch resulting in wheel spin followed by a bounce on the limiter, by then it was off boost and game over whilst grabbing 2nd gear, hardly a fair run.
