good point.. maybe you have to state the model/brand of security system on your policy.. or maybe if they recover the car and check it over they seem a non-ADR approved alarm and refuse to pay out.. -
Bodykits And Compliance

ok fair enough then. I wonder why you have to have stock rims for compliance if SEVS is mainly targetted at mechanical modifications... -
Importing R32
foznice replied to jlb's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
yeah, the busniess about having to own the car for 12months means that you are going to import in the peronsal scheme. But you don't nee to do this if you import with SEVS. In terms of getting import 'approval' you need to quilfy for various criteria depending on what scheme you are importing with. So with SEVS the car needs to not have been in any major accident history, you can't have dents in the car with a depth of more than 20mm (or something like that) and there isn't aloud to be any rust or anything. If you are going to import through the personal scheme then I think that the main criteria is that you have to have proof that you have owned the car for 12months. In terms of compliance costs, in SEVS for an r32 it costs around 3-4k. Keeping in mind that at the moment very few workshops are doing r32 SEVS compliance, so you might have to travel pretty far to find one, but I'm sure that the number of workshops will increase in the future. Costs for customs will vary depending on how much you pay for your car as the main charges with customs are import duty and GST, which are calculated partly on how much you paid for your car in the first place. Take a look at the J-spec and Prestige mailing lists to get an idea of the overall costs, as the costs of shipping and customs (and compliance) have been included. There is another way. Prestige and J-spec still have some cars that have import aproval under the 15yr rule, which means that compliance will be a lots cheaper bla bla.. but I'm not sure if there are many left and if they are of reasonable quality. hope this helps -
Bodykits And Compliance
foznice replied to Paradizzle's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I'm not a 100% sure, but I would say that you will need to get the stock kit on the grounds that you have to get stock rims for SEVS compliance also. But from what you said it sounds like you want the stock kit anyway so maybe having to restore the kit to stock won't be such a problem for you. -
Help! Money Might Be Lost
foznice replied to fLipKnot's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hmmm well if you can't find a way to get your money back.. maybe it's worth just buying the s15 going through the importing process (pain in the ass) and then selling it here.. I don't know how much the market value is in aus relative to the Jap s15's so this may or may not be worth doing, but it might be worthwhile thinking about.... -

I'm quite sure this is the case as rs73 said in Victoria anyway. It's the same reason why you aren't supposed to have turbo timers. Mind you, I have never heard of anyone being done for having either a remote starter or turbo timer so you could probably get away with it. But at the end of the day it's probably no huge loss to start your car before you get to it unless you want to impress your mates.. One of my friends has it and I keep starting his car in class, so he has to excuse himself and go to the carpark and turn it off again.. lol -
Help! Money Might Be Lost

holy crap... so all this friends friend stuff means that its not really going through a business or anything? One of the advantages of having a busniess front here doing the work for you is that you at least have someone to point the finger at if something goes to shit. So let me get this straight.. you paid $9000 for them to find you a car (and buy one with that 9k I'm assuming), they find you a car, but you aren't happy with it.. so now they want to charge a 4000 service fee... well that definatly sucks.. do you have any of this deal in writing? You might have a chance to reclaim your money if you threaten or even take legal action... Alternatively, can't you get them to keep looking for another car until you find something that you are happy with? hope this all works out for you. -
I'm not sure about the locking doors thing though.. when I think about it... on one hand its a good prevention for car jacking, but say if you have a serious car accident and you pass out or something and people can't open the car door to save your life... I spose they can always get the jaws of life but these things take time.. tough call.

If someone does a runner with your money in japan then I don't think there is a huge amount of stuff you can do. Unless you want to personally go over there and chase it up yourself. When you say lost money.. I assume you mean to dodgy reasons - eg someone running with it.. The other ways that you can lose your money are things that can be unexpected - such as if you miss your ship you might have to pay storage or if you can't get your car on the boat they might charge you a fee to get a mechanic so that it can be driven onto the boat.. or inreases and decreases in the exchange rate can effect how much you pay too... -
My Beef With You

hmm well I think the old one was way better too.. But maybe there is a good reason why we migrated to different software.. I don't know anything about programming but maybe the old one was too slow or we were getting too many users or something.. I dunno. -
has anybody noticed that it's really really slow as well? Maybe it's because it's still being worked on.. I hope it won't be like this all the time...
-
well I liked it at first because often a change is refreshing.. but now its just bloody annoying me.. this crazy colour scheme and the text size.. my eyes are falling out of their sockets.. and changing the display on IE is a no no because it effects what you look at when your not on SAU as well.. bitch bitch bitch.. still annoyed about the quick reply thing.. and as someone said the thread preview I like that.... But on a good note.. I like the way when you are going through threads you can 'jump to page' so you just chuck in the page number you want and it's there.. no pressing buttons for ages and ages....

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...1&st=&p=entry here's one on the r32 taillights and ebay.. there is a bit about r33's here.. but I odn't know if there are any pics yet because of the new forum software.

I was about to give some more pictures of the front bar for your info but then the forums went down, and the gallery still isn't up yet... but coming soon
-
wow... how hot is that car!!.. that car is an 89' model just for the record. Also, why would you need to cut holes in the GTR front bar for a FMIC? I thought it came stock with a FMIC... or is this for a larger FMIC?
-
what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol.. I think it said.. stage (as in... the man walked on stage).. and then ea..or ia ( as in kia) so stageia.. interesting....
-
from the dealer.. don't they usually come with warranties from dealers? Oh well too late now I guess. Good luck with it all.
-
since i never actually hear people talking about Stageas, and only ever read about it on the forums, how is that pronouced?
-
geez thats pretty scary, I never would have thought kind of thing would happen ...but I guess until this sort of thing happens you don't think about it too much. But its good to hear that you're ok. Do the police have a good chance of tracking these people down??

Regulation
foznice replied to FLYR33's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
If your car puts out over 125kw/tonne (flywheel kilowatts) then your car is illegal. R33gtst is illegal. N/A skyline is legal. -
Rust on your skyline
foznice replied to foznice's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
haha thanks Gordon, I love the stockers, and I'm loving the affordability of 16" tyres too... and the blitz BOV will have to get that one taken off, sitting there sparkling right at the front of the engine bay... easy defect material. I forgot to ask them to hide the turbo timer, will be interesting to see if it turns up... when I looked at it again I noticed it was an HKS one.. doh.
