  1. congrats, dsteffe! My car is booked on the Hual Tropicana leaving Osaka on the 4th of July and arriving in Brisbane on the 18th. Did you manage to get onto the first ship you booked?
  2. thanks for that zahos
  3. I watched that once, thought it was great. What time and channel is it on again??
  4. does anyone know if it's possible to adjust an after market BOV to always vent or plumback (no flutter) at all boost levels? I don't like the flutter personally, but because at higher boost levels you need to tighten the BOV so that it dosn't leak, but at the same time I don't want any flutter on the lower boost levels....
  5. yeah, wouldn't mind finding out if this is legal in Victoria also. I have heard it is illegal to have a car running unatennded. Could it have anything to do with the saftey aspect as well? Eg. if you have a accident where its bad, and then turbo timer may keep the engine running and fuel pumping then it might not be too pretty.
  6. thanks linton, it all makes sense now . I can understand how that would be a real pain in the ass.
  7. electric motor assited twin turbos?.... sweet.
  8. I don't know what the deal with this thread was, and maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but NZM.031, that garage debris image that you have in your sig is also at that website listed along with a bunch of others... perhaps this was the basis of the post?
  9. man haven't you seen gone in 60seconds? jeezz... j/k.
  10. I might be thinking of the wrong person, but didn't you just buy it not that long ago?
  11. thats nice, like the r34 ute, it would look more realisitic if that back window frame thing was on more of an angle if you know what I mean?
  12. yes, I think it looks horrible. But I think it looks bad because the rest of the interior is still grey/black.. If the rest of the interior had matching colours.. and some white I think it has the potential to look ok.
  13. thanks for that mark, will do.
  14. yeah thanks for the suggestions.. just checking it was nothing majory bad thats all. Was worried for a sec..
  15. dude, I told you it wasn't stock! don't you remember!?
  16. Hi guys, I recently bought an r32 gtst in japan and am still currently waiting on import approval. I was having a close up look at this photo, and noticed that there is a plug/socket hanging down from the dash. You can see it hanging in front of the foot rest. Does anybody know what this plug is for, and is it a bad thing that it is disconnected?

  18. interesting, thanks for the imformative posts guys.
  19. hmm ok so whats the difference between back pressure and natural harmonics?.. I thought harmonics where always things to do with sound. I guess not. Also why don't turbos need backpressure or natural harmonics?..
  20. Actually I don't think I have any idea about that trucking stuff... I think it has something to do with the Aus - new zealand route.. Who knows how much brisbane/melbourne trucking costs these days?
  21. cheers mark... So according to the Kiwi site the charges are $72US per cubic metre. It also says "Ex Melbourne or Sydney add AUD 18 per cbm to Ocean Freight"... I assume this means interstate trucking??? So far the shipping costs are as follows: $72 US/cbm for the shipping iteself $18 AUD/cbm for trucking (if thats what it is) $0.80 AUD/cbm GST $75 for the Quarantine Inspection that works out to be $1273.86 with the current exchange rate.. interesting, J-spec quote $1800 for shipping.. maybe this includes the price of a customs agent ($150). What else am I missing?
  22. just while we're sort of on this topic... Isn't there a point where too little backpressure is bad as well?...I always think about trying to breathe through a drinking straw (lots of backpressure/stock exhaust)... but then if you stick a really massive pipe into your mouth its actually hard to breathe?.. maybe I'm talking crap but isn't there supposed to be a happy medium someplace, where there is enough backpressure to make it just right?
  23. I just did a chem exam a couple of days ago a part of which was based on catalysts. I thought I might be able to elaborate on SK's post before. For now, without thinking about catalysts: When you have the Nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide turning into carbon dioxide and nitrogen and oxygen. Basically, these reactions can take place without a catalyst such as (platinum, rhodium) if the right temperature (really f&*ckin high) is used. The reason for this, is these reactions have whats called an 'activation energy' where the molecules need x amount of energy before they can break and form new compounds (C02, N2, 02). To reach that activation energy, for these reactions alot of heat is required. A catalyst lowers the activation energy required to break the bonds within the molecules. Eg, less heat is required to form the products (C02, N2, 02). Catalysts lower the activation energy because they are slightly attracted to the C0 and N0/N02 molecues. So this slight attraction causes the C0 and N0/N02 molecules to collide with the catalyst. Upon collision with the catalyst, the bonds between the C0 and N0/N02 molecules are weakened. Because the bonds within molecules are weak, LESS energy is required to break them. So this means that the addition of a catalyst will make the converision of C0/N0/N02 to C02/N2/02 possible. So what SK and lucien said before is right, without the coating (of platinum or rhodium or aluminium oxide (there was another also)) of a catalyst the exhuast gas won't be converted into the less dangerous emmisions. And emmision-wise, your exhaust will probably be as clean as one with a straight through pipe... my 2c
  24. cool thanks anyway.. I was looking at Kiwi's website.. and its pretty hard to understand. It seems like their prices depend on the size of the car in cubic metres... Does anybody how big the r32 is in cubic metres? lol
  25. thanks for that cubes, much appreciated. I will add those things to the "list of things to buy/do for the skyline"
