100% noob and dont know where to start.

By the victoria power to weight ratio law, an r32 gtr (all gtr's actually) are over the power to weight ratio... Therefore no matter what your doing, if your driving, then your illegal. There is a shitload of people on here that have r33gtst's on their P's (also illegal) many of them get away with it, many of them don't.. It usually comes down to the area that you are driving in at the time. If you end up buying a GTR and driving it on your P's and you dicked for power/weight then don't whinge. Also don't forget that there will ALWAYS be someone who has a faster/better car than yours. To me, buying a GTR so that you can having something cooler and faster than your friends is silly. whatever you do, good luck (especially with importing) -
how do workshops remapp ecu's? sounds pretty complex.

I'm assuming that keeping the stock BOV is so that when the cops look under your bonnet you tell them that you can show them that the BOV is stock? Is the stock BOV venting or plumback? If you come across a cop who knows what he is talking about and hears a venting BOV then you show him a plumback BOV then you will most likely be caught. Also if a cop knows his stuff then there is a chance that he will se the aftermarket BOV also, just thought you should keep that in mind. Also, correct me if I'm wrong but don't most people change the BOV in their cars because when there is increased boost pressure the stock BOV opens before the throttle plate closes, so having a stock one still connected (unless its glued/welded shut) will defeat the point of purchasing an aftermarket BOV.... Also I think that the only legal aftermarket BOV's are the plumback ones also.

From Canada

if you did, you would be going through a 'personal importing scheme'. Don't know too much about this, but you need to have proof that you've owned the car for at least 12months in the country that you live in. But the imression that I've got is that compliance through this scheme isn't all that strict (correct me if I'm wrong). Theres quite a few american muscle cars here that have LHD but they are old and might not have to be RHD.. but my Dad was saying that he saw a Pontiac GTO here with LHD and all... he's might just be pulling my leg.... -
Is that with the extra 2k compliance costs?? pred... hopeing to get something for about 300,000-350,000.... (not 100% if this is realistic...correct me if im wrong) i was thinking that maybe i could import a 32gtst later this year.. probably a 92/93 model (which is apparently the same price of the 89/90models) and import under sevs.. i was thinking that because the side intrusion bars come standard that should lower the compliancing costs siginifcantly.. everything is a few years newer as well which means that i can sell it for a little bit more later on when the time comes.... just my random thoughts/dribble.

the magazine with the 32/34 on it is the febuary edition of HPI.. and if memory serves me correctly, it cost the guy in jp 10,000 aussie dollars to have the conversion.. in japan so yeah BIG DOLLARS.

thanks saff.... so how do police defect you for tinted windows? surely wouldn't have a light metre or anything.. or is it just one of those "judgement" things? Does that mean that you can have tinting that is like a mirror to people looking inside the car? I just hate being stared at, and like the feeling of being able to see people that can't see me...
-
I know nothing about tinting, so here's a couple of questions: What is the % of tinting of exactly? Is it what you can see from the inside of the car (when standing outside)... Does this mean that the lower the % the darker the tint? I assume that there is a 'darkest legal tint' because people (police) might like to see inside the car... or is it that the darker the tint (from the outside) the harder it is to see out of the car from the inside? cheers guys

the specs vary from where you read them, can someone get the official ones eg weight and power? i was looking at some for a r32gtst and a r32gtst mspec... the 2 door versions are 4kg's too light (do the laws take into account the weight of the driver??)

yeah i have the latest hpi, it looks very very nice and clean with the deepdishes. I think by memory it was putting out 190's at the treads with a few minor mods... -
hahah ya finally got it daniel! Glad your enjoying it and having fun, i'll probably end up in the same boat as you were (buying a skyline before even driving one). Congrats.

just a couple of questions... Whats the map sensor, and engine mapping eg how does it work... etc etc (i know it's a noob question but I haven't read about it anywhere): what do you mean by batch fired? I guess it dosn't have anything to do with the individual cylinders firing because if cylinders fire twice per engine cycle that would make them 2stroke engines right?
-
it is rather stupid, considering the speedo can be greatly effected by the condition of your tyres... thats why most other states have the 10% rule, eg if your doing 70k's you will only get fined if your doing over 77.... but oh no not in dicktoria....

i have a feeling that you should be concerened. there was a thread released not long ago about a bosch fuel pump that DoriDori32 sent to someone with the incorrect serial number. He claimed that, because it was made in another country to what it was originally bought in (I can't remember) that the serial numbers where diff, i will try to find this thread. DoriDori32 is also known as mines_datsun, REDFC, and about a billion other usernames (he's been banned many times).
