  1. sometimes buying a manual works out cheaper in the first place, sometimes it doesn't, you have to work it out on the specific car.... but buying manual in the first place saves hassel, unless the gearbox is already on it's way out, don't forget that the clutch might need replacing in the near future also. Hope this helps. Now i must take posters off my walls because it has to be painted... bayside blue... or gunmetal grey?? haha...
  2. theres a cruise being organised as we speak starionturbo....http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=60036
  3. thanks john I can't say that i fully understand the 15yr rule changes that have been announced, i thought that only pre 89 cars would be allowed in? I want to import an r32gtst..... from what i can gather, i won't be able to imprort a car through j-spec or prestige anymore, because it has to go through raws or somehting?? so confused lol *scratches head*
  4. i saw a 355 being thrased in melbourne last week heheheheh.... well i pulled up behind him and he must have seen the L plates and thought he would put on a bit of a show... the lights went green and i heard the engine wail (most awsome sound in the world) then the bloke dumps the clutch and does a massive burnout right across the intersection. He then continues to cane his car and cut an chop traffic. Incredibly stupid, driving like that an all, but it made me happy to see a ferrari revving high and being caned all the same
  5. got any big plans troy? rb26 maybe?
  6. what's the tare weight?
  7. Power Restiction For P-Platers In Vicroia: 125kw/tonne From May 1989 to 1991... R32 Gtst Type - M Sedan (Manual) Power:158Kw Weight: 1290kg Power/Weight Ratio: 122.48062015503875968992248062016kw/t Under Power Restictions R32 Gtst Type - M Sedan (Automaic) Power:158Kw Weight: 1310kg Power/Weight Ratio: 120.6106870229007633587786259542kw/t Under Power Restictions R32 Gtst Type - M Coupe (Manual) Power:158kw Weight:1260kg Power/Weight Ratio: 125.39682539682539682539682539683 Over Power Restrictions R32 Gtst Type - M Coupe (Automatic) Power:158kw Weight:1280kg Power/Weight Ratio: 123.4375 Under Restictions I worked out that from an RB20DET which produces 158kw that to be spot on the p/w ratio the weight of the skyline would have to be 1264kg's... so: If the skyline is under 1264kg's then it is OVER (Illegal) the p/w ratio, but if the skyline is heavier than 1264 it is UNDER (legal) the p/w ratio. I used to think if the skyline is an r32, and its a gtst then its legal but the one exception is for the 2 door 1989-1991 gtst wich weighs 1260kg. But, from 1991-1992 the weight increased to 1320kg making it legal. BUT, does the restriction include the weight of the driver, because the 89-91 2 door gtst is 4kg's under...
  8. oh yeah and as kamikaziR33 said, how stuff works gives a good explanation of the turbocharger
  9. Turbocharger, the exhaust gases blow the turbine wheel in the hot end of the turbocharger. The wheel on the hot end of the turbocharger is conected to the compressor wheel on the cool end of the turbocharger. Therefore when the hotwheel spins so does the coldwheel. The coldwheel spins which compresses the air coming from the air filter, and goes into the intercooler then the engine. In this case the thing to know about a turbocharger is that the thing that makes the compresor spin is the exhaust gases. A supercharger is connected to the fanbelt and is therefore powered by the engine crankshaft. The crankshaft spins making the wheel inside of the supercharger spin compressing air. The air comes through the air filter, into the supercharger and is then fed into the engine. I'm not sure if there is any cooling involved in some cars - in my dads commodore there isn't, and i wouldn't think that cooling is neccasary as it only deals with the intake (cold air) and not the exhaust (hot air) as a turbocharger does. So the main difference between supercharging and turbocharging is that the supercharger is powered by the engine crankshaft, and the turbocharger is powered by the engine exhaust. Correct me if im wrong, i don't actually know that much about supercharging.../
  10. hey guys, have DOTARS realeased the finer details of the 15yr rule yet? I'm beggining to think that it might be easier to import through SEVS, hopefully the demand for imports will drop (from japan) and i might get myself a car cheaper.... but who knows...
  11. how do you listen in DRIFTT? do you somehow tune your radio, or use some sort of hi-tech portable internet streamer majig.....
  12. okay, so if the BOV is blocked up you get a whole lot of copressor surge, but what actually causes the 'fluttering' sound and why do you need an after market POD filter?
  13. MIC33R gave us the site:http://imports.motortraders.net/imp...n&model=Skyline the figures are as follows Power Restiction For P-Platers In Vicroia: 125kw/tonne From May 1989 to 1991... 14. www.meggala.com is great, for information on the RB engines.
  15. if it came with the cam cover, it will say RB25 or RB20 but i assume its not otherwise you would have seen it already but take a look here: http://users.esc.net.au/~cobra30/twincam.htm the bloke who did this rb30/25 conversion said that he knows the head to be rb25 because he injected oil into the combustion chamber using a syringe wich has cc measurments on it. So he just kepts track of how much he has injected and when its full you have the capacity, but that might not help either, because you won't be able to inject oil until you buy it.
  16. skylinedrifter, where'd you get that from?
  17. ok its wednesday the 19th....
  18. nark, fulllock says that the wednesday night drifting at calder is fortnightly. Does anybody know when the next one is, and how much it costs to get?
  19. as the topic states, i am trying to find out what regular events happen at sandown and calder and how much it costs as a spectator. eg. i heard that calder is open the public on friday nights (how much does it cost to get in?) and that there are CAMS events at sandown on the weekends usually and for those of you who have been there before, is it worth going? anyway thanks for the help guys.
  20. I like the bayside blue, in terms of resale.... it's hard to say what will make you more money unless you mean which colour will show up scrathes then probably all three of them won't be very good for that purpose, but yeah the bayside blue is a nice! btw, on the SS green car, are they IS200 rims??
  21. is it just skylines? i know the p platers in general are gaining bad publicity, and i hear about rex's do but i never hear about supras or soarers or 180's an 200's for that matter... maybe supras aren't as common as the rest but the others.....
  22. i didn't i haven't watched the news... has there been any import 'death machine' accidents??
  23. by the way, do they ever publish the transcripts?
