Jay, That's where the rig was. It was a speed edit! trying to see how quick I could get it to how I wanted it. I had a look at what you found and found a couple other little things too So lazy. I'd fix them but it will kill the link. Actually, I might fix anyway. it's worth a fixing. Nice and sharp shots man I know how it feels to have dream boats look down at you for gear. They're the people who struggle to put half an idea together though. A couple of the more seasoned dudes who were at wtac had a couple digs at my thrashed, baby d90 and 1990 lenses. Funnily enough 2 of them added me on FB once I started uploading pics after the event. As said above, it's not the tools. You got the skillz to use a shitty old go-pro and turn out some magic. anyway... a quick shot of Dave's car from the other afternoon

Opening up with my quick selfie from friday

Keep it set on auto - wide. that 3d tracking thing is f**king shit. so are all the other options for AF. when i say focus on te contrast, i dont mean centre it on the centre of the red shirt your friend is wearing. if you want fast focus centre it on the edge of the shirt and the black background. find clear/sharp edges to lock on. then reframe. if it's a normal shot you won't have to, but if youre trying to get super quick focus on the fly, this is how you do it. It's a pain in the arse and tricky to start with, but if it can be done with enough time to reframe shot on a car travelling 200kmh i'm sure it can be done under normal circumstances pretty easily.

This shot is about 6 months old. Was shot as part of a set for a mag in singapore This one is from this weekend just gone, went up to cover Central Coast Showdown. f**k man, some of the engineering and fabrication in those trucks and cars was amazing! Glad I went up! If you like this shot it's in wallpaper size HERE, sharing is caring right? Back to WTAC shit. Team Orange! also, wallpaper of this is HERE. and a couple others (facebook compression)

in camera select, there's heaps of 'canon's... then there is only OTHER
-
There's little focus points across the camera. like in the centre and a ring about half way around. in the menu you can turn on a display for these focus points if it's not up already. ifyou want to focus fast put a high contrast area inside these little squares and it will lock on (Focus works on contrast for both light/dark and (nikon only colour contrasts too)) then hold the AE lock button and reframe shot if needed.

Eric, come find me next time you've got your camera and there's moving targets around. I was getting some sharp shots at 1/5th during the drifting! Still, looked like balls on my crappy sensor though. Oh well, almost upgrade time! So I entered the Photo5 comp with this. The theme was Wind. (FACEBOOK COMPRESSION)

Yo. Time to begin operation: catch up on a month! WTAC snaps and I've started working on sets again. Spent a while on this one last night cleaning up the car, had a stack of reflections and shit going on. not to mention some horrible colour balance thanks to car park tungstens.

Heya Pez, Those shots have just been added on different layers in photoshop and then masked in/out where needed. it's a pretty simple process, just time consuming until you get the hang of it Fire shot = 3 exposures. Longer shot for background. Fire shot. Painted car carefully to match fire. Merged layers in photoshop. Done. I'm happy to share the basics of what gets done on most shots, some shots I'd rather keep the finer details to myself. It's not about me trying to hold out on technique though, it's more about me trying to keep my style unique. I've spent ages working around problems that everyone has but doing it in a different way to how the rest of the photo community does it in an attempt to give my work a unique style. Hell some of the stuff I do is down right retarded when compared to the easy/normal way to do stuff kory, prob your best interior shots yet. well, night time ones! could use a bit more light inside though. So i finished my first feature car set for street machine last night. I couldn't post up any shots from that so I went back to summernats shots to post a celebratory one I found these. Found this too, on the way down we drove through a massive hail storm! THis is the storm front approaching.

So I was thinking about this the last few days. Thinking of a way to add more value to these monthly threads and a way to help all of us continue to improve. Just an idea, so tell me if you agree/disagree. Over the last few months (across a few boards) the photo threads have just turned into LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!!! Which isn't what they should be about. They should be about sharing not just dumping. So my brilliant idea. Every time you drop some images in the thread it will cost you. You need to pay at least one comment to a picture already posted. You don't need to do comment on each shot, just if you see something awesome or something that you think you could help someone improve on. Saying an image is 'good/bad' doesn't count. You need say WHAT you like/dislike. If you have an idea that would improve the image or reduce what you don't like... throw it in. VIce versa, if there's an image you really like... think about it... what is it you like? This will help your own photography more than you'd first think too. because your forcing yourself to THINK about what you're seeing. Any thoughts? Is it a waste of time or dumb idea? A few details from the latest silvia set:
-
2nd paint on the silvia. WTAC IS NEXT WEEK! WTF!>?
-
Nice work Sidd, so are you back? I'm sure if you went around to a few parties and stuff you'd find more dj's would be similar to over here than that. Were they fully commercial dudes or what? Anyway, I'm starting on the painted shots from the red silvia set. here's the first.

You can't stand where you suggest because there's a big arse ravine thing there.
Putting him right between pylons would have been rad for sure!

He's close to the pylons to really emphasis how big they are. Those sandstone bricks are about 20cm high and 60cm long each. Needed the person to give it the sense of scale. The bridge is about 15 metres high i reckon, maybe even 20.

changed shutter speeds, changing ap will change sharpness. Only use Ap if shutter speed is paramount to what your capturing.

What did u end up booming with?

shot some water n stuff...

I do have a set of small gel's for flash, but they're so damn hard to get off the sample holder thing that i gave up haha. i need to buy some larger ones for the Bee's. I think i had a different brand, so maybe i'll try to get a set of these to play with too playing with colour is the best!
