Hello, first time forum poster. I have a R34 25GT Neo. It's tiptronic.
A few days ago my car wouldn't shift out of third. It would just continue running in it and sound like a dying cow. the A/T light is on and flashes about 13 times. This happened for the last 3 days. Even if i switched it to tip and drove, it would still stick to 3rd. But today I turned it on went to gym, I got back in it in an a hour or so and started driving again. The car drove in all the gears, fine. Then the A/T light came one and it just drove on 3rd. It's weird because everytime i shut it of and then on and drive it works fine on all gears for a little while and then goes and sticks to 3rd .
I switched it to tip and drove, it would work fine.. but after a while just go back to third. and I'd have restart to get it to run on all gears again.
I was able to thrash it as well, and it shifted smoothly..
some advice would be nice because i dont think it is a mechanical problem. can someone also let me know what type of transmission fluid to get.
this is a 1998 model.
