Count me in.....

Oh great, just what we need......... There's more than enough morons on the road as it is that clearly cannot "drive" & now they don't even have to have the skill to park either

I'm in, but you already know that

INSURANCE??? I'm guessing not....... As much as I agree that the oxygen-thieves that steal should be removed from the face-of-the-earth, life isn't that simple & unfortunately some soft of cover is essential. Now before some of you whinge that "Insurance is too expensive" etc, is it a cost of owning the car, just like rego, fuel, tyres etc. Until the laws are changed so we can shoot these clowns on sight & feed them to our pets, insurance truly is a necessary evil.

That's not UNLUCKY, that's f#k'n STUPIDITY!!! The sooner we as a collective realise & act upon the fact that stupid acts by an absolute minority of Import owners/drivers are the reason we all get un-fairly targeted for the cars that we choose to drive the sooner we may be able to have that attitude reversed. Comments like "Unlucky buddy" & the mentality that goes with it do NOT help our cause........

Now I'm sure my response is going to anger some people, mainly parents, but before you react I ask you to remove your "parent" hat & put on your 'common-sense" hat (if you still have one- so many people in general-life seem to have misplaced theirs). Around 6yrs ago I was working for a traffic survey company in Brisbane & was involved in collecting data from several school-zone test-sites in the lead up to the 40km/h zones being implemented. Whilst I understand the "all children are precious, we must protect them" etc train-of-thought, rather that trying to save them from themselves, isn't it much better to EDUCATE THEM instead?? Now to everyone that is going to respond with "kids will be kids, you can't blah blah blah" my response is & will always be BULLSH*T!! As GTR32GUS already said earlier, back in the day there weren't special speed-zones around schools & we all survived, because we were taught respect for the road. We KNEW that the road was for vehicles & we're taught to look 3 times (left, right, left) to make sure the way was clear & safe before crossing the road. Sadly, & this is one of my "pet-hates", the onus of self-responsibility has been eroded in the modern-world & I believe this is to the detriment of humanity. Again this is going to sound harsh, but what we now have is "Darwinism in reverse". Instead of teaching our kids the ways of the world, we shirk our responsibilities as adults & instead look for someone, ANYONE to blame as long as it isn't ourselves. The end-result of trying to make the world "idiot-proof" is we are creating generations of "idiots" that cannot or WILL NOT think for themselves & take responsibility for their own actions. This forces us all to exist in a world that is structured to accomodate the "lowest common denominator" & as this also leads to "idiots breeding idiots", thus it becomes a generational thing & instead of evolving, we run the risk of "devolving" as a species. Now next time you get pulled up on an empty road for doing 6km/h over the posted limit or even worse, get a camera-infringement in the mail for similar or less of an infraction, remember my rant & maybe you'll then understand the "lowest-common-denominator" factor that influences how the world currently functions. As sad as it must be, if a child runs out in front of a car & get's injured or killed it's not ultimately the fault of the driver, the school, the teachers, the Gov't or any of their respective dept's, IT IS THE FAULT OF YOU & YOUR CHILD, PERIOD!!! In regards to the comment on Sophie Delezio by Mid-Life-Crisis, speed was NOT a direct cause of either of the unfortunate incidents that befell her. BOTH incidents were caused by elderly drivers that has no right to still be driving anywhere at anytime. Again it is much simpler & almost socially-acceptable to point the finger at something, ANYTHING other than the real cause because the end-result would be much more stringent testing & scrutiny of ALL drivers at ALL suppposed levels of skill & "experience". But hang-on, that would mean the same people that whinge about "hoon" this & "import" that would suddenly find themselves under the same scrutiny that we are unfortunately singled-out for way more than most (but not all) of us deserve. Now for the record, as I'm sure someone is going to fire back at me- I am 35yo, I hold an open car licence, an open m/cycle licence, a heavy vehicle licence, have all my 12 points intact, have never lost any of my licences for any reason & probably average more km's per mth than the average driver does in a yr. That put's me on not one but THREE sub-groups that the average "driver" looks down to as a "menace-to-society" but somehow I survived & yes I do consider myself qualified to state the above comments. So flame away, but please be constructive not just abusive........

This whole "schoolies/toolies" thing really p*sses me off I spent 9yrs living on the Gold Coast, it was my home & when Schoolies started ramping up we, the locals, were basically stereotyped as "toolies" regardless if we were doing EXACTLY what we would of been doing for the other 50-odd wks of the yr. If you're in Surfers during those wks for ANYTHING, you're a "toolie" etc. What we got to put up with were hordes of pathetic, wannabe 17yo's with no clue & no respect for anything around them. Add to that the potential hassles from the cops etc & it really does become something to avoid. I still can't quite understand how such a minority group can be given such a free reign over a public space, especially considering their behaviour. Maybe they should put them all on an island somewhere & leave the rest of the public in peace. Oh hang on, the island owners DON'T WANT THEM EITHER!! It does bring a heap of $$$ in though, & that is the ONLY reason schoolies still exists. I know this sounds very stereotypical & it's more a case of the few spoiling it for the many maybe but if you ALL understood the meaning of respect you would all be welcome. "til then, take your sh*t elsewhere........ /rant

Pedders Suspension Check
Lunatikk replied to Rekin's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I took my GTR into Pedders up here for the $14 check & dropped a few comments as hooks-in-the-water to see if they'd bite & yep, they sure did!! Firstly they wouldn't let me in the workshop to SHOW me what needed to be replaced, which to be fair is the letter of the law BUT then they came back with a list of needing to completly dis-assemble the rear-cradle & replace all the bushes along with the front steering-rack being shot & needing to be re-built or replaced. Stupid $$$ & 2wks later I could have my car back..... I then took it to a mates workshop & put it on the hoist. The car needs a RH front tie-rod end, a front CV-boot & not a lot else. Whilst the rest isn't brand-new, it doesn't need replacing right now either. Anyway that's my experience, make of it what you will -
R33, R34 CAI box & radiator panel
Lunatikk replied to Maxx's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
^---^---^ As above I'd also be interested for a 32GTR running Z32 AFM's -
Not sure if this helps, but I had a look at a set of these calipers side-by-side with a set of 8-Spot Monobloc Brembo's I've got going (eventually) onto my 32GTR & you'd almost say the G4's were modelled off the Brembo's, although they use a single pad per side vs 2 per side on the Brembo's. I think from memory you'll need a 17"+ rim & they SHOULD be a good thing, especially for the price. They are 100% "bolt-on" so there are no mods required, come with braided-lines etc so if you have to pay to have them installed I can't see it being too pricey

Guys as I said in the e-mail that I sent 4 of you that had requested a copy of what I had, I wasn't sure if this was what you were after & I also asked you to e-mail me back to confirm one way or another. Not one of you bothered to let me know either way.........

Mate post your e-mail addy & I'll forward a copy of the manual (in pdf) Same goes for anyone else that might need a copy......

R32 Gtr Saprk Plug Advise
Lunatikk replied to SysLink67's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
BCPR7ES (0.8mm 7heat range coppers) Just make sure you get the 0.8mm & you won't have to touch the gap etc, just bolt 'em in. -
In all honesty, & I believe this is a trap that so many people fall into, a GTR is as a MINIMUM a $30k investment. Meaning either buy a car that has had a recent VERIFIED engine re-build or if you do take the gamble, make sure to budget for a re-build sooner rather than later. There is NO SUCH THING as a bargain GTR (re: $20k etc) that won't cost you more in the long-run & the more you spend initially, the better off you'll be in the end. Having said all that, there truly is NOTHING that can compare to a well prepped GTR for the price. IF you're in the position to do the above, go the GTR. You'll never regret it!!

I think from memory somehow R32's are legal with a CF bonnet, something to do with ADR's & crash-testing etc not being relevant at time of orig compliance & so on. Shoot MrVspec a PM, he works for CustomCarbon in Bris & as n15m0 said they might be able to give you some more specific info Good Luck

I'll take a guess that it's to help deflect the wind-blast over the top of the ski-bar on the roof. I know that when the Vic police first got the VN-VP era Commonwhore chase-cars in the early 90's they were "un-officially" speed-limited to around 225kph 'cos above that there was no guarantee the gear on the roof would actually stay on the roof. Supposedly they had 1 set come in the rear screen & another spear thru the rear door-skin at stupid speeds which was obviously not a good thing, for them anyway

Warning Light Whilst Cornering -r32 Gtr
Lunatikk replied to Lunatikk's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Doh!! Just had a look & the reservior is 1/2 empty, next thing is to find out where it's all going Guess that will teach me not to look first & ask questions later....... Got a set of 8-spot Brembos to go on so I guess now's as good as any Thanx for that Elk, next time I'm in Melb I'll buy you a beer -
Noticed this for the 1st time Sat night & again this morning- whilst either taking a 270` turn to the right on a normal-sized round-a-bout or a 180` turn to the left (feeder onto M1) at a decent pace, I'm getting the HANDBRAKE warning light coming on (NOT the HICAS light) whilst the car is under g-load. Nothing else is showing abnormal readings at the time (oil pressure fine, no over-boost etc etc) Driving normally thru same intersections this does not happen & conversly, pushing hard thru a larger radius round-a-bout or corner (Centenatry Mwy/Ipswich Mwy round-a-bout for example) again at pace nothing lights up on the dash either. The car seems to be responding normally in all cases, just wanting to know why the light may be coming on & what else, if anything, is wired to the same warning light?? Cheers all John
