White Noise replied to White Noise's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I have no idea what spam is, lol.Not really a computer person sorry. If need be this can be deleted. -
I was snooping around the interweb when I stumbled across this site and found out a heap of great information that made a lot of sense to me (a newbie). Im not sure as to wether or not there is one on here already and if not I thought this would be a great topic to start. Please feel free to add your own discoveries from other sites and stuff. This is the best one I found: http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=66975 Enjoy and I hope to hear a lot of discussion pro or con to the information myself put here. Thank you, Aaron. For some reason I cant get the link to paste so I typed it out and still wont work. Any ideas? Essentially type into google: RB25DET Tuning Skyline Owners Its the first one.

My Hondas have been the same. All I ever really needed was a 10mm and 12mm spanner. Hopefully I never have to use them on my skyline. (When I get one anyway) lol.

Thanks man

Thanks man

What do they do exactly? I'm new to all this so unsure. Do they have a performance benefit over stock on a stock motor?

Car looks nice man. Plenty of Info and nice people here on site. Welcome

People Don't Want To Race Our Skylines.......

Some people just never grow up -
Just Cars seems the only place importers can go which really sucks. Its not like we dont have high performance cars in Oz either Plenty of time mate. I might get one in 6 months maybe a year maybe 14 months. But wont be any earlier than 6. Just see what i come across but i am forever on gumtree and car sales looks and reading up. Seems they all have the same mods too. Splitfire coilpacks, FMIC, 3" dump into 4" or something like that. I figued a meet is the best way to get to know the car and hear what the drivers have to say about their model Skyline. Be good just to join a car community again.

Yeah the other two I looked at weren't too keen. Who knows though in a year when I get one may even be cheaper Sent from my iPhone using SAU Community

$970 annual with agreed value of $13,300 and excess of $825. My civic isn't much less than that. That's for full comp through just car.

As long as it is mechanically fine im not too worried about the dents and faded paint. I want a project so would be good for me
-
I am 28 so by the looks of it I will need about $1500 a year which isn't too bad. I seen quite a few for around the 5-7k mark so I was just going off that but by the sounds of it the cheaper would have something wrong with them. I wont buy one unless myself and the person who helps me is confident with the car. Probably best to buy one that's on site here as I can research it then. I only tired to look at Shannons and NRMA. Chances are they could insure me and I would prefer NRMA as I am with them but at the end of the day it depends on what is the best deal that covers what I want.
-
Thank you, im a getting a lot of help and information from this forum and I appreciate it. The majority seem to be around that mark. What is the comprehensive insurance on one of these? Every time I try to get a quote on line they say I need to call

It got moving alright but torque steer made it too hard to control on 7 let alone 12 PSI, lol. The B16A was nice too but I still miss my Type R. Comes with full Recaro interior stock and just superb handling and the noise was insane, lol. redline at 8600 form memory. Torque killed that car though. Took a lot to get to 6k to hit VTEC. But in saying that I would love to own one again someday. Always wanted an NSX-R though Yeah I don't want to buy a lemon. I want something to work on but not spend all my money forever keeping it going, lol. I have a few mates that will help me look at one. Somewhere in the 5-7K I am hoping for. Just depends what is available at the time. I don't want an auto that for sure. Just find them boring to drive.
-
Thanks. Yeah I have learnt my lesson about jumping in on buying a car. I would love to drive an R33 before I buy one though just so I know what the car feels like if that makes sense. Maybe even rock up to a few meets and get to know the people and their cars.

People Don't Want To Race Our Skylines.......
White Noise replied to Goombeh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I agree that there has been a decline in racing around our area but you still get a few commodores and the odd XR6's still wanting a go at anything that makes a loud exhaust note. I don't see these people as enthusiasts just a bunch of hoons. I will admit however when I was younger I was the same but I never once put people in danger but in saying that you never know who is around the corner. I have matured a lot in the last few years and now consider myself an enthusiast. The police around here are fairly strict but are dumb as dog shit when it comes to cars. I had a cop pull me over once cause of my turbo CRX (not turbo at the time due to me being a dick and having to remove it, long story but totally my fault). With boost guage still attached he asked me to put it neutral, pull the hand brake up and give it a few revs. The boost gauge moved but didn't come on boost (no turbo) but he still insisted that even after going over the car top to bottom and every nook and cranny that there was a turbo on it. After all this arguing and trying to explain it wasn't turbo anymore the other officer came over and took a quick look. Checked my ID and then sent me on my way. I fully support the police and them trying to get the hoons off the road but no need to be dicks about it. Anyway I got a lot off topic, lol. Extremely long story short, yes a decrease in not just skyline but everyone wanting to race (I think our local cops are cracking down and people are just listening for once). A lot of people in our area are into slow n show but there isn't much to show out there, lol. -
Nissan Skyline R33 Gtst Series 2 Auto
White Noise replied to antsr33's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Goodluck with the sale mate. Looks nice. -
My name is Aaron. New to the whole skyline scene. I don't own one as yet and wont for about a year. I am saving for a house so budget wont allow me the pleasure. I am just going to get an R33 GTST by what I have been reading up on. I would prefer the R32 but I like the interior better on the R33 and the R34 is out of my price range and GTR's (as much as I want one) are too expensive. Basically I just want a reliable car (stock if possible) to do a few mods to here and there. Basically I need a hobby and I have always loved my cars albeit I don't know much but that is what I am here to learn. my previous cars were: 1988 CRX D16 Turbo@ 7 &12 PSI 1988 CRX B16A 2001 Honda Integra Type R AUDM Current car: 1997 EK1 Honda Civic. Gets me the where I need to go and is cheap on fuel. and a bunch of shitty Fords and Holdens. But as mentioned I need a project to do and the Skyline is the car I have chosen. Have not always been a fan as most the bogans around here are just that and give them a bad name but started hanging around the right people who are true enthusiasts and now cars are my passion. Looking forward to talking with all of you and in the next year owning and starting my project. Cheers, Aaron.

Thanks, That rebirthing thing seems so bloody dodgy, lol. I know a little about cars, like enough to go out and buy one but I like to know specific things to that model to look for. That read was a great help. No sure if I mentioned, I don't mind buying one where its body isn't perfect my concern is any mechanical faults as I probably couldn't fix them
-
Thanks for the info. Are these expensive things to get fixed on a R33 GTS25T?
-
Haha, and what should be the first? Are there any particular things I should look for when I look for one?
-
That the one I have ben leaning on. I don't mind the shape but I would prefer the series 2 model. R32 is a bit dated for me but I still like it. Seen quite a few around the 5-6k mark but like I said wont get one for about a year or so. I don't even mind buying one with a crap body as long as the engine is good. I hear these motor seems to blow a lot of head gaskets and seals? is there a way to replace these with something with a long life. Like a steel head gasket and stuff? Sorry still learning

Hello everyone on SAU. I am obviously a newbie here but I look forward to improving my knowledge about these cars and starting my own project in about 8 months or so depending on funds. After many years of to be honest, not liking skylines for the simple reason almost everyone I know praises them hard and hates everything else on the road. I respect all cars as at the end of the day its the owners choice to do what they want to their car and as long as they are happy then who cares what anyone else says. It was a hard choice in deciding which turbo car I wanted to but and do as a project over the next few years. The only problem I am having now is which Skyline to choose. I cant afford a GTR in any model so that's out right away. I want a model that is known to be reliable, that's the main thing. I realise that all cars are different depending on who has owned them and the life they have had but which one would be my best choice. I honestly think the R33 is nice (not many people seem to like them but I do). I also like the R32 but seems a little more out dated. The R34 seems out of my price range though but is also nice. I would like to know what other people think is the better model choice for me. Future Plans (may help you guys help me in choosing the model I am after): Nice paint jobs and rims. Reliable (legal mods) power. I don't plan on any track days or drag races. Just something comfortable to cruise around in basically that looks nice. Looking forward to the many years ahead on this forum. I am in need of a project and this seems to be it. I have always been into my cars and at the moment haven't got something to work on and its driving me insane.
