  1. next round of tweak is going on as we speak new ignition is already on, but still the miss fuel pump died on friday so hopefully replacing it with bosch 040 will maybe fix the miss as it may have been the rail running low pressure top end also tossing up the idea of welding a external gate onto the standard manifold for better boost response and control as well as to lower the backpressure in the exhaust manifold top end
  2. im unaware of how the scale of the apexi to convetional garret a/r works but just looking at the housing it is at least as big as a 0.8a/r my turbo came only in a p25 or p22 housing so im unsure if you would be able to connect a p20 housing as the actuator mounts may be not suitable ?!? i do agree with you tho, the p22 housing would probably be much more suitable to the 2l and i doubt i would loose much top end if any only problem is finding a housing to borrow or buy for the test, apexi turbos dont seem to grow on trees
  3. much better looking at carl h graph makes me get bad ideas about upgrading to gt30r love and some cams its really not that laggy for the extra power
  4. gtr fuel pump shat itself on friday so maybe it was that slowly dying getting a bosch 040 tommorrow, might fix the problem maybe
  5. i actually was going to give it a go as well but for some reason this laptop does not have excel on it... random um, my tyres were 255/40/17's and was about 36.6, but i just worked out my mate with 235/45/17's was around 37.6 somewhere around there so make it around 37 and u will get if fairly accurate
  6. oh yeah and to convert to road speed to rpm in 4th gear to ratio is 36.6rpm:1km/hr assuming both gearbox and diff are standard ratios
  7. roy u have done something funky with the bottom end of the graph for instance at 95km/hr im making 75rwkw and your making about 80rwkw but on the comparo graph ur making 160rwkw and im making 120rwkw i think ur giving the rb20 bottom end a bit too much credit
  8. went for a spin today and hit a total ignition cut as soon as i hit 16.5psi gaps are still 0.56, going to gap them till 0.40 tonight to see if that works and then rewire the coils to a new power source
  9. both stock coils and the falcon coils have exactly the same problem... and its not a single cyl that is having a problem, it is all of them with the same problem
  10. 11.8 afrs top end going to have a play today with loom and check everything... then will try and change charge and discharge times of the coils as grim32 suggested
  11. ok to answer some questions... i run bcp6es and bcp6e and they both are the same, might get my hand on a set of bcp7es and try them?!? base timing is around 15 deg and the timing is a few degrees off pinging top end like a good proper tuner should do (around 13-15) we did put more timing in on dyno but it just caused pinging and knock count was getting on the high side of just under 60 the power running to the ignitor was checked at idle but not under load... may have a check of this again under load the rings/pistons and valves are assumed to be fine as there is virtually 0 blowbye from the engine plus the fact that the miss goes away if the plugs are gapped low enough... plugs come out with all normal markings of a good working engine, maybe a tad rich but thats for saftey grim32, i may give this a try. i shall talk to my tuner, datalogit is used to adjust correct?!?
  12. Ok so i have a RB20 and wanting to run over 300rwhp with 20psi I was stuffing around with coilpacks for ages trying to fix a miss but eventually gave up and have upgraded to a falcon coil pack. But the miss is still there, even with a 0.55mm gap it still misses a fair bit under boost. When the boost is turned up to 18/20psi it misses of virtually all cylnders. I have a Power FC and my tuner played around with the coils settings with datalogit but to no avail. I have changed coils/plugs/ignitors etc etc many times and none make a difference I got my hands on a hand controller a few weeks ago and as the revs got towards the top end (when it starts to miss) the volts dropped on the hand controller read out (14.4 down to 13.2). My friend has a very similar setup to mine so i did the same on his and it stayed a constant 14.4v through the rev range. So i changed the alternator to see if it was the problem, once again with no luck. Now im going to change the alternator belt as i have been advised that it may be slipping with revs but if this does not work im as a loss of what to do. does anyone have any ideas about what could be my problem?!? any help would be appriciated thanks simon

  17. i have a internal gate i was more talking about the external gate flowing more air and freeing up backpressure to create more power not exhaust flow
  18. plugs are gapped to big, try working down from .8mm to around .6mm in 0.05 incriments
  19. you made 77rwhp from a tune and changing from blocking the actuator and controlling boost via a bigger external wastegate, at the same boost? if so, im going to get gate...

  21. 380hp and its making 306rwhp on 18psi with a lack of timing tuner said it will easily make 320+ on only 18psi, just need to fix the miss
  22. nice power fatgts-r until 4500 it is very similar to my graph but then opens can of woop arse on mine top end... so there goes roys theory of the manifold being needed hopefully with a bit more boost (aka 20psi) i should be seeing a similar curve to yours just a little less top end more like 250rwkw. but then again i might get all happy and try and run 22psi as well as see how well she goes im about to do a au falcon coil pack conversion to see if it fixes my miss, ill let u guys know how it goes

  25. ive driven a 400rwhp rb26, been in 380rwhp rb25 and a 600rwhp gtr the only think that come close to the feel of my rb20 with 300rwhp rb20 is the 600rwhp gtr i love the excitment of the top end power of the rb20 the other cars may have been a bit faster, but mine is more fun
