I personally have not a lot of faith in Turbosmart gates after seeing some shocking results... Bigger gates are generally better no matter what, only issues being cost as well as sound. We used a Tial 60mm on my mates 6boost 3076R set up and it sounds average (like a wheezy emphysema patient)

The rebuild will end up costing about double what you first estimate... Also your mate who builds "race v8s" probably won't build you the best RB as they are not similar in many way and you may end up with just another broken motor.

Don't worry about not running a EBC, just get a gate a few psi less than what you intend to run and then control the rest with a Turbotech $35 job. You will be surprised how well it works, I would run this if I didn't want switchable boost Water cooling for the MVR, not running it... I don't see a need unless it's a full race car maybe. More of a gimmick I use a 1bar spring and Profec B Spec II (only because I got it cheap second hand, I would rather a blitz dual solenoid)

Can't remember, got it second hand... You are actually lucky, the lips are the expensive thing and you already have one. Generally they go really cheap second hand without a lip so get hunting
