Brake Pad & Caliper Questions...
sparkmanv11 replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just spoke to Steve Cramp MANTA Racing services who has put 6 pot AP's on 2 Track 32 GTR's. The AP's will fit specific 17" rims, the ones he has done were on the cars had the same set of RAYS on each, maybe that is telling you something, not sure of the style. If you want I can find out may take a day or 2. He tongue in cheek said he would be happy to fit. Clearance was around 4.5mm top of caliper to rim, apparently sufficient. -
Brake Pad & Caliper Questions...
sparkmanv11 replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
djr81, was told by Howard at RaceBrakes to accomodate the 6 pot AP calipers on a standard R33 rotor I would need to go to an 18" rim. I would assume this would also go any other brand 6 pot. I couldnt get my fingers between the wheel and top of the rotor when I had the OEM 17" rims on with the OEM Brembo 4 pots. I would definately get some size specs before you buy a 6pot brake upgrade pack regardless of brand. Having said that I think you can get 18" rims on a R32 GTR without any scraping issues and the guards would be filled up as well and you are guaranteed the caliper will fit. One word of caution I have heard of large caliper upgrades touching steering componets at agressive camber/castor angles, just something else to check. -
Brake Pad & Caliper Questions...
sparkmanv11 replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
djr81 have a look here :http://www.centraxauto.com.au/default2.htm and here http://www.endless-sport.co.jp/eindex.htm, Supposedly the AP's have the best dust seals and overall durability. I have seen since Brembo bought AP, V8 supercars running 6 pot Brembos at last years Bathurst and would consider them as they are in keeping with the OEM, However i suspect they would cost 2 arms and 2 legs. The endless gear has been on Racing Skylines and Porsches in Japan since the R33 with race winning results and constant testing. Plus although its half arsed they are Japanese. I have Recaro's and Takata harnesses I at least should consider Endless as brake upgrade, they should fit nicely behind my TE37's. -
Brake Pad & Caliper Questions...
sparkmanv11 replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Bought from NENGUN at $505.00 and arrived from Japan in less than a week. I brought my last set from RaceBrakes and cost the above just for the fronts a Ferodo compound. The CC-X's are Track orientated but I can still drive home on. Less dust than the Ferodos. After a couple of trips to Mallala i am very happy with them and am now considering upgrading to a 6 pot Endless upgrade kit. Race brakes recommended APs and although I have seen them on skylines the Endless rotors and calipers look appear comparable slightly better priced i.e I could get front and rears for the same AP or Brembo 6 pot front only upgrade. The front/rear balance should be evenly matched. Looking at doing the classic Adelaide this year and should have fitted by then. -
Brake Pad & Caliper Questions...
sparkmanv11 replied to djr81's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
djr81, I just bought and fitted a set of Endless CC-X pads front and rear for my 33GTR. Part number EP290CC-X shown on the box states " will fit (BNR32 V-SPEC), (BCNR33 GTR), (BNR34 V-SPEC) and (BNR34 VSPEC N1). So I can only assume a standard 32GTR has some pad differrence. Backing plate measurent as follows: Width across the backing plate 117mm measured with calipers. Hard to get a vertical measurements as there are no parralel edges. Hope this answers part one of your question. -
I have a set that I have just removed off my car and replaced with RAYS VOLK TE37. They have Bridgestone RE55 semislicks on them. There yours for $1600.00, have pics if required

9krpm, Luv the exhaust, its loud and I hope it dont get soft with age. Saved 17kg over the apexi. I wanted it to sound like the Garage Defend R33 in the HPI DVD8.
-
I will be at the cruise and hillclimb dont know about the show. Just added new wheels, rubber, ditched the apexi exhaust in favour of a stainless/titanium exhaust from turbo's back courtesy of ET's and remapped powerfc + apexara boost control courtsey of Willalls to my R33. Showtime!

If its the middle of the motor you may want to check for weeps around the welsh plugs. I have seen a few reports of R33's with 75000 and more on the motor developing this problem. While its hot its just steam ? doe you get a radiator sorta smell when u lift the bonnet. When u switch the car off the motor and coolant looses temprature the metal contracts and the pressure in the waterjacket drops. The hiss and leak then stops.

From Gary's original post it sounded like the GTR's will be here but he wont. Could be wrong thats just the way it read. Both would be better. He's gunna get sick of answering questions if he is here.

I have been waiting for a TAKATA racing harness from him since 01 November. Think he has been heaps busy but got a delivery update today of 12 November so he must be back on deck. Have never had any trouble with him not delivering always but sometimes a bit slow. The RAYS caps he has on his site look like they are made for your wheels but I dont think they would match my white TE37s. I also had to buy the RAYS wheel nuts (no warranty otherwise) in black, however the wheel arrived with RAYS made blue anodised aluminium valves which match the LOGO but not the nuts. I dont know why I should care as I have just got them shod with Bridgestone RE55 SR semi slicks all looks good on a white R33 GTR but some people like me are fussy about everything matching , like having end caps!!!. Your ride deserves it. My 5 cents worth

Gary, these shocks look like the Bilstien PSS9 shocks fitted to my R33 GTR. I can remember you saying at the time that u thought the spring rates were a bit high for the car. Acting on your advice I spoke to Heasmens about changing the springs. I was told that the the spring was specifically designed for the shock "some special taper winding" and that there were no bilstien alternate rate springs for it. I would be interested in knowing the rates for your set Consequently I am left with a. Putting up with to harsher springs particarly in the rear I only run R spec rubber and is not a daily driver b. Buying an aftermarket spring for the shock with possible reduced quality and warranty issues c. Almost buying your first road package for a R33 d. Selling the ones I was talked into buying and purchasing your track R33 track package. Help

Ap Fitting Help Needed Quickly!
sparkmanv11 replied to kronic's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Talk to RaceBrakes in Victoria (03) 9326-6088 . Ask to talk to Howard -
Thanks, for the replies, I will try to get to Abahn to find the miracle loctite blue/white stuff that will stop the 98 octane rooster tail behind my car and get my psssshhhh back. However if I cant get it before the track day this weekend can the compliancing fuel filler restrictor be taken out and the standard fuel cap screwed in temporarily. I cant let the EVO club thats running the track day not have competition.
-
Thought I was the only one in the world that has this problem. Only occurs on track days at Mallala S.A. Thought it was the cap so got a new genuine cap at Nissan. Next track day leaked like a !@#$%. Car is a series II R33 GTR. In desperation did a search of forum " should have done it months ago" and found this thread. I checked the nozzle insert tonite and could not find the movement you all speak about. There is a rubber boot liner that goes around the filler out to the edge of the cover opening. Does it leak from behind this cover where it joins the filler. If so how does this boot come off for repair. No matter what level the tank is at I never get a ssssssh on opening HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Cant keep on affording to pump fuel out almost didnt make it back to Adelaide last track day.

Put whitleline adjustable castor rod bushes on my 33gtr cost $268.00 including fitting. Increased castor angle from ~3.0 degrees to ~ 5.5 degrees. Anymore than that will require adjustable castor rods, these can rattle a bit after a while but !!!!! YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH CASTOR and theres nothing bad too much castor will cause.

Will try to organise for this weekend sometime. Will post in this thread Fri/Sat

Nozilla, what r u changing suspension for drift, drag, track????. I have setup a r33 for track but still driveable just on S.A roads. The car has PSS9 bilstiens bump/rebound and height adjustable lowered the 25mm now sits 115mm too much lower screws with camber/castor too much. Full whiteline bush kit adjustable castor and rear camber. Rear blade adjustable 24mm solid sway bar 124% increase soft setting rear is 16mm hollow standard. Front blade adjustable 24mm solid sway bar 44% increase hard setting front is 22mm hollow standard. Tyres r Bridgestone RE55 semislick DOT rated (road legal) in WT soft compound. If u have a standard R33 to compare I would be glad to take u for a ride.

Whiteline rear swaybar install
sparkmanv11 replied to Reedy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If you bought the standard 22mm bar then the bushes will fit perfectly. However if you bought the oversize 24mm bar "non stock" then the bushes they supply present a problem as the largest bush the have and supply with the bar is 22mm. They dont tell you this when u buy it. You have three choices, least desirable is: 1. You hand grind it out, this will never be right as you want max surface area in contact with bush to cover in grease to stop the squeaks. 2. you heat it or as Whiteline term it "blow it out" they dont reccomend it anymore as the smoke that comes of it is seriously bad shit. 3. Most desirable is you ring Peter at Fulcrum suspension in Qld 07 3892 9000 and ask him for a set of SPF1647-22K. He will then take these to the factory next door, lathe them to 24mm, freight them to u for the massive sum of $25.00 inc freight and get them to you within a couple of days and I live in Adelaide and their purple that at least matches a skyline colour. It may sound like a bit of rooting around but its safer and provinding you put the white goo supplied in the bush bag on them NO SQUEAKS. -
Bridgestone Potenza's RE-01's
sparkmanv11 replied to choyda's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
U need to speak to a bridgestone motorsport outlet. Apparently they are the only ones authorised by bridgestone to sell the imported jap stuff. I bought RE55s in WT "soft" compound semislick DOT rated road legal for my 33gtr. Got them from Magill Bridgestone motorsport outlet in Adelaide. Much cheaper than eastern states. They had truckloads of semi slick and slick tyres. Mind you you I only get about 5000k out a set of the above. They shave seconds of lap times at the track "but". -
