  1. This is like doing donuts in a parking lot, lots of going around in circles but not going anywhere. Someone email this thread to NHTSA so we can move on.
  2. Also the early nismo speedo will have 582 in the part number, the later speedo will have 583.
  3. If you have a legal car in the U.S. Then it's an early model. The clusters didn't change until the 91 model year.
  4. If you don't believe matvei27 then just call ICE and ask them to review your paperwork, if it's 100% legal then you have nothing to worry about. However I think you know what he is saying makes sense, in which case listen to what he is telling you so you can work this out.
  5. I am hoping the same thing. Like I said I'll let everyone know when mine goes through. I thought a car imported illegally but with shady registration was grey market?
  6. It's all about the correct paper trail. You need the forms mentioned above to satisfy the requirements, otherwise it remains a grey market car. I'm still preparing my car for export in July and I can tell you if you are missing anything your cat isn't making it through importation. The stock car question reads "unmodified" on my paperwork. I believe this is referring to parts that are legal, mostly exhaust and engine upgrades are what I was asked about. I'll let you know how my inspection goes when it ships. I have aftermarket exhaust and I have deleted the hicas.
  7. So I remember looking into this. If it's under 20 years (epa exemption) then you can be fined 10000$ per day the car was in operation illegally. I think highway safety administration will only seize and destroy the vehicle. You really need to go to the websites and look up the guidelines to be 100%. As far as if anything can come back on you legally... Technically yes, it's everyone's responsibility to know the law. However in a case were you didn't knowingly violate a law intentionally most of the blame I imagine would fall to the party who purchased the car and failed to comply with the original exportation guidelines, I doubt they would hammer you for any of this. The car would probably get seized if the Feds found out and cared enough to do so, and then you would have to take legal action against the dealer that purchased it then sold it to you.
  8. Yeah. Too bad they were all blanks, if they had been ground and polished cams there would have been some empty spots on the wall.
  9. If you look in the vending machine the water bottles are labeled with nissan heritage, I think there is a blue bird on it.
  10. I soldered mine and refreshed the grounds. I still ended up replacing them to fix my issues.
  11. Got mine from yahoo auction Japan since I live here.
  12. Just some input, high rate coilovers springs are usually a cheap alternative to setting up a total suspension (not all coilovers but most low level units). You want the wheels to move with the road surface so usually a lower spring rate with good damper adjustability, then tune the body roll with the sway bars. For settings I usually try to get as much caster as I can, higher caster negates the need for high camber angles. Too much camber and you can actually loose grip because you have less tire to road surface contact. Most coilovers here in Japan are made to drop in quickly and cover all the jobs of the suspension components because the labor costs to install and tune suspensions is astronomical. Additionally run the smallest rims you can with a high quality tire, super low profile tires make you give up a lot of dampening area (side wall) for no performance gain.
  13. I find it odd that the Japanese gtr police cars aren't mentioned on a skyline forum. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/71/Japanese_NISSAN_SkylineR34_GTR_police_car.jpg&imgrefurl=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Skyline_GT-R&h=2304&w=3456&tbnid=I_f4-p3niwTM7M:&zoom=1&docid=tSptH7SLM4xeMM&hl=en&ei=RoIrVffIH6OnmAWLxoDwAw&tbm=isch&client=safari&ved=0CCQQMygHMAc http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y261/Heeroh/Japanese%252520Police%252520Vehicles/NissanSkylineR32.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.drifting.com/forums/pictures-and-video-clips/17149-japanese-police-patrol-cars.html&h=300&w=400&tbnid=9nXlqYilRdLfqM:&zoom=1&docid=pa7Qj1WBBs8nbM&hl=en&ei=RoIrVffIH6OnmAWLxoDwAw&tbm=isch&client=safari&ved=0CCoQMygNMA0
  14. Total was about 7500 yen. The black pieces are for under the middle section, the white sections clip into the keyholes in the first picture, then press into the body.
  15. Just got my nismo side skirts in and I picked up new mounting hardware from nissan. I was hoping someone can give me some details about the mounting process, I assume all my lower mounting holes are present but what about the upper portion of the rear pieces? Cheers
  16. I wonder what the restrictions are for Canada. If you could take a grey market car up and have it registered, then turn around and de register, complete the import forms that way? Might be something to think about.
  17. The retain a little more heat due to the poly "leather" but it grips better than stock. It you can get over a few imperfections in the fitment such as the middle not sitting flush with the actual seats then they are nice. Everyone that's looked at them loved them.
  18. Seats came out pretty nice. Pita to get the finishing rings fitted properly, honestly I wish nismo had just used the original fabric as a template to make a new upholstery set instead of just a cover.
  19. I only have experience shipping through government contracts.
  20. Everything except the gtr is actually in Ohio. The gtr ships out in July.
  21. Currently in Japan. I leave next week to move to Chicago.
  22. Aaron. 04 STi, 93 rx7 r1, and 90 gtr. Is this what your looking for?
  23. Semantics. I didn't say they were all mine.
  24. So I just got back from nismo factory today, prepare your wallets... Two up coming parts to be released soon. R32/34 full carbon fiber air box R32/33/34 carbon fiber turbo pipes They wouldn't tell us how much no matter how many first born sons I offered them. Also I'm finishing up my interior, when the rain lets up here I'll get some pictures of the nismo seat covers for the r32.
