  1. Of course crown and pinion are a set. Never had one apart so I'm not sure. If the pinion is part of the input shaft it cant be done.
  2. My r32 gtst has a short r200 4.3:1 vlsd Apparently GTRs have a short 4.11:1 mech.lsd I have a 3.9:1 open wheel long-nose r200 from a dr30. Higher spec dr30s had mech. lsd but I can't comment on what other ratios available. It would be good if the short nose and long nose gears are interchangable. Has anyone tried this?
  3. I've been costing a rb30/25 conversion for my r32 gtst and I reckon I should allow for a taller diff ratio to use the extra lowdown torque. What diff ratios are available that will bolt into the r32 gtst? What ratio are the r32/33gtr diffs? Will they fit? Would I also need to change to gtr half shafts? Would the 3.9:1 crownwheel and pinion from the dr30 long-nose r200 fit into my r32 diff? If it's possible who could I get to do it and what would it cost? What other options are there?
  4. Wouldn't there be enough threads on clutches, gearboxes, driveshafts, diffs and axles for them to have their own forum?
  5. Not pointless In your first post you said a few things are yet to be confirmed. I'm just offering an informed 2nd opinion for what it's worth. It is not an rb25 (45V) compressor housing and it is not rb20 but shares the 16V compressor housing so i suspect it came from another 2L motor like the vg20. Rude pms are not necessary
  6. I'm fitting a power fc to my R32gtst. I bought a 2nd hand solenoid from an apexi avcr because it is the same as the one used in the pfc boost control kit. There are no instructions with it. The solenoid has three tapped ports. Two ports have hosetails screwed in. The other appears to have been left open in it's previous application. The ports with hosetails are marked COM and NC. The open port is marked NO. Where should each port be plumbed to for an internal wastegate application? Thanks in advance.
  7. How do they differ?
  8. Start to pry it off at the top and work your way down. I think it locates with a lug at the bottom that unhooks. Be careful as they are brittle.
  9. No longer required Thanks
  10. Are they the same?
  11. This thread is now nine months old. It's taken some time to get some of the bit's together, mostly finding the money. The budget build idea died some time ago but I still need to ensure I get value for money. So far I've fitted a hybrid fmic and done the piping myself, new plugs and coils, 040 pump, fujitsubo catback and I've got a power fc that is still in it's box until I get a new turbo and split dump to cat. Since fitting the fmic it seems to hit boost a bit later and it feels sort of 'elastic' or not as hard hitting but in the top end the car feels a fair bit quicker. I'm tempted to fit the pfc now and add boost control but a new turbo is not too far away and I don't want to pay to tune it twice. I'm still running the stock boost which has actually lost 2psi (9 down to 7psi) over the past few months for some reason. This was before the fmic but didn't change when it was fitted Why would it be losing boost? I don't think there is a leak.
  12. I've been told the r32 rb25de doesn't have piston oil squirters nor do the rb30 motors. I was only aware that they are used in the rb26. What about the r33 rb25de/det or my rb20det for that matter? How important are they if you use forged pistons?
  13. Is the r32 rb25de crank the same as the r33 rb25det crank?
  14. Mine runs a needle width over half. I've always thought it's a little high but once warmed up it's rock solid 40 deg. C days or cold winter nights it never moves.
  15. R33 rotors are 30mm so min. thickness is 28mm.
  16. Searched 'timing' yielded nothing.
  17. What's the easiest/ best method of checking the base timing on the rb20det engine?
  18. At the mingara s&s GCG had some hiflow examples on their stand. The gentle breeze had some of these spinning fast enough to blur the blades so they spin very freely.
  19. quote Cubes The GCG Highflow using the VG30 exhaust housing hits hard around 3700-3800rpm as stated previously. On the RB20DET slap another 500rpm + a softer hit, in other words it will spool up to what ever by ~4300rpm, it won't simply hit hard but more so be more progressive this is 'gay'. OK so the vg30 housing will make it too laggy on the rb20. GCG seemed to recommend the rb25 turbine as base for highflow over rb20 turbine. What would the GT28 option cost? Who would do it?
  20. The auto makes boost from 1800rpm when I nail it up a hill and a bit later when the load is less. The manual now makes boost a bit later since fitting the fmic but I can feel assistance from the turbo a few hundred rpm before the needle rises above the zero. As others have said boost is just a measure of the restriction to airflow.

  22. Dave, was your hiflow based on the rb20 or rb25 turbo?
  23. Can you supply with a ceramic cushion clutchplate?
  24. I spoke to someone from GCG at the Mingara s&s about a turbo for my rb20 He said they could hiflow my stock rb20 turbo but it would be better to use one from an rb25 preferably with a vg30 turbine housing. I asked him how these would compare to an HKS GT2530. He said they were much bigger more like a GT30. I asked him how these options would affect the boost threshold. He wasn't sure for rb20 but estimates rb20 hiflow = stock + approx. 400rpm rb25 hiflow = stock + approx. 800rpm rb25 hiflow vg30 housing = stock +1100rpm maybe a little less. I drive two r32 gtsts. One is manual with a exhaust and hybrid fmic and boost starts about 2400rpm. The other is auto with just exhaust and pod and boost starts at 1800rpm. Which one should I compare the hiflow to? I'd appreciate feedback from anyone with experience of the GCG hiflows on the rb20. Thanks.
