Thermalflex Are you prepared to supply cut lengths as I doubt many people need 1m? If not, maybe someone could organise a group buy eg. $3 per inch. Would there be any chance of a better price on the reducers if they where part of a group buy?

Custom intercooler piping is usually made up using preformed mandrel bends tig welded together. Normal press bends vary in diameter through the bend and aren't usually bent as tightly as mandrel and doughnut bends. I've been looking into making up my own aluminium piping for my R32 and after pricing the 90 deg. bends(7for$180), pipe(1.5m $30),tig welding(maybe <$100) and silicone joiners(4x$20ea)/reducers(2x$40ea) so now I'm thinking of going in on one of the group buys for $500. You maybe able to do it cheaply in mild steel exhaust tube but I don't know if the pipe bender you have can give you the type of results you would be happy with. Do a search in the tutorials as I saw a 'how to' thread there for a 32 using the behind the intercooler return pipe which is easier than the conventional piping route.

Are you sure the piping is stainless steel or could it be aluminium? Do you have a date when the piping kits will be available?

I'm interested in the adapter. Can anyone post pics of them? Any idea how much it would cost to have them made either as a one off or part of a group buy? Most windscreen places will replace the glass cheaply.

How would these compare to the xforce ones?

This seems like a good idea to me. I'd like to know why none of the aftermarket kits I've seen are done this way.

Mate, I'd love to put a bodykit on my 4door but I'm sure I've seen a better looking kit than that somewhere on the sedan forum. Did you find any other 4door kits?

Is there a stainless version for the R32?

Is it possible to get 60mm hose as my piping is 60mm or will 2.5" (63mm) be close enough when the clamp is done up?

GCG aren't the cheapest out there for silicon stuff. 3"-2.5" reducers were over $80 each.

I've found these 2.5" ones on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...ssPageName=WDVW The only thing is 2.5" is 63mm, so will it clamp up ok on 60mm piping? Is this a good price or should I look elsewhere?

I need to buy 60mm joiner hoses and 75-60mm reducers for my intercooler project. Which ones are the best value for money and where can I get them from?

There has been a few questions in the intercooler group buys about the need to cut down the radiator fan to clear the intercooler return pipe. My question is, if some additional clearance is needed why not use longer studs and use a 10-15mm spacer behind the fan to move it a bit closer to the radiator? It would still clear the radiator by 35-40mm which i don't think should be a problem. At least these are my measurements on my R32. Wouldn't this be better than taking a hacksaw to the fan?

I guess all I need to know is will 60mm piping flow enough not to cause a restriction at 200rwkw?

I've noticed most stainless exhausts use 304 and good quality manifolds are often made from 321. How does 316 compare for use on exhausts?

BTW Quote awurth 50mm still has more surface area than two 38mm pipes The cross-sectional area of 2x38mm is actually greater than 1x50mm

I've recently bought a Hybrid cooler in a group buy and I've been looking at piping options. As I live in the country there is noone who specialises in performance fabrication. The local exhaust shops dont even do TIG welding and one wanted $120 for a single 180 degree bend in 304 SS I've found some aluminium tubing and mandrel bends for a very reasonable price at a place that manufactures aluminium gates and handrails etc and they can also TIG weld it for me. The diameter is the same as the stock R32 gts-t piping (60mm OD- 57mm ID) I know this is a bit smaller than most aftermarket kits use but I'd prefer to keep the piping as small as possible without it being too restrictive to keep it responsive and because it will fit better. My power target for this car when mods are finished is about 160rwkws for everyday use and 200 rwkws for some occassional fun. The next size up is 80mm OD- 76mm ID but it's a special order and can only be bought by the 6m length and the bends use a larger radius. I've seen 80mm piping used on cars making 400+kw so is the 60mm piping going to be big enough for my modest needs?

I've been told they're different. I have an old VL one and it looks different.

The front wheels hit the caliper so the wheels need a 3mm spacer behind them. This shouldn't be necessary if you're using larger rotors like R33 ones as the calipers are further out and clear the wheel.
