Greetings all. I'm an Aussie ex-pat currently living in Japan, considering purchasing a 2009 Nissan GTR there with the intention of bringing it back to Australia as a personal import and then hopefully selling it, after owning it for the required 12 months. They sell for roughly $65K in Japan as opposed to $110K or so, on Car Sales. Does anyone have similar experience, or is in a position to provide advice regarding any possible hurdles in doing so? Any comments most welcome.

Has anyone recently imported a European car from Japan to Australia? I'm an ex-pat hoping to take advantage of the Personal Import Scheme (one vehicle every 5 years which must be owned overseas for a minimum of 12 months), and am considering a late model RHD 6 Series BMW, though am concerned about how possible it will be to sell. I have done considerable research already online about compliance, shipping and costs in general (which seem to suggest a healthy profit), but if anyone has experience importing European vehicles from Japan and has advice also about what vehicle is best to sell at a profit, I'd be grateful to hear from you!

I'm in a similar situation (living in Japan considering a personal import) but am considering a European car, which I've been told is more profitable in selling down the track, though I'd be keen to hear why you've chosen a Skyline. Are you planning on buying at an auction or at a car yard?
