Shoota's R33 GT-R RB30/26
Looney_Head replied to Shoota_77's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Damn, it always feels like one step forward two steps back, it took me 8 years to get mine built to were it is now, and it still feels like it's got a few more years to go (gearbox, fuel pressure issues, random noises to track down etc) but am loving having it going now. Mine doesn't turn any heads which is cool and sad at the same time lol -
So catch can has been made up and it was time for the drags (Dec 7-8). Because the car makes a bunch of hp and to try get it down the track without breakong driveline parts we are running boost by gear (1st 7psi, 2nd 10psi, 3rd 14psi and 4th+5th is 17psi). Due to weather there was only one day of racing, and unfortunately at our local track you don't get many runs in a day. So my first run was full of adrenaline and monkey driving, but did a [email protected]. Second run was once again full of adrenaline and monkey driving, this time did a [email protected]. needless to say I was stoked with that run. For the next run we changed the launch control and turned 4th and 5th up to 20psi. The car launched way better then the first two runs but Unfortunately I got lots of axle tramp and hooked second while axle tramping, apparently my axles didn't like this and snapped both axles at the CV ends. So that was the end of my weekend, but we suspect the car would have done an 11 if it had held. For next time I am going to get a clutch slipper valve, put Bilsteins in the back and not run my 18's... Some videos and pictures attached. received_442954359962069.mp4 VID-20191208-WA0021.mp4 VID-20191207-WA0023.mp4

All good bro, I have had those moments with my build, and take inspiration where I can. Cars looking great, how's it coming together? -
Hopefully I will have some more updates soon, getting a catch can made up, then off to the drags on the 7th of December, see if it can do a 12 second 1/4

Thanks cejay

Rb30 Hybrid Upgrade, All Dyno Results
Looney_Head replied to R31Nismoid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
A small update on mine. I have changed from a borg warner s360sx to a s362sxe using the same exhaust housing and everything else the same. Due to fuel pressure issues we only did one run over 20psi which is below. This is on very soft timing and once fuel issues are sorted it will do over 500kws -
please see Lith's post about how the new turbo got on over here needless to say I am over the moon with the new turbo, it responds identically to the S360sx and flows more

yay awesome progress, hopefully number six is something simple like a wiring issue. -
One of these isn't quite like the other... Changed from the s360sx to a s361sxe. So far road tuning shows it's not a shit swap Hopefully have some dyno results this week.

yes you can, i have a Link G4+ xtreme and am feeding it fuel pressure via a pressure sensor on the regulator. works great.

Thanks RS, yeah it doesn't get many looks from people until I lean on it

Cheers, plans are to enjoy it and get it to the strip and track to see what high gear and high boost feel like

this is a copy and paste from another forum as my build has been going on for many years, but thought i would finally share it on here. I have owned the car for since 2002 and until 2007 it was my daily driver and has 254000kms on the body. during those years the car ended up with: Link GTS plug-in 255L walbro pump VG30 turbo FMIC 3" exhaust K&N filter Exedy 5 puk HD clutch the car was making 180rwkw's, in 2009 after the car sitting round for two years i decided to turn the car into a more track focused car so i went about buying bits. vr4 450cc injectors R33 RB25DET gearbox nismo 1.5way LSD BC red adjustable coilover shocks adjustable front and rear camber arms, whiteline sway bars adjustable front caster arms, rear "traction" rods locked hicas racetech 4009w seat monza harness and stripped interior the car was ready for its track day abuse it survived it's first track day so it got a new set of wheel and went back for more.... i managed to spin every bearing in the bottom end so it was goodbye to the RB20. that was in 2011 this started the long awaited RB30 build that i first started getting bits for in 2004. which has taken 8 years to do (two children, buying a house, getting married all done in that time) so new parts were purchased: all the ARP bits: a new Exedy triple plate clutch a Borg Warner s360sx turbo with a .91 twin scroll housing ethanol sensor Custom CP pistons 8.75:1 and MRP rods with ARP 2000 bolts the block was sent to Colliers in Levin for machining and balancing, then taken into my garage, painted and assembled some Tomei 256 poncams were added along with some Kelford valve springs clutch and gearbox fitted then it went into the car more parts were ordered, fitted and fabricated Greddy intake manifold -10 fuel rail double pass radiator 66mm waste gate Sinco custom RB30 twin scroll manifold custom 4" exhaust fabricated by a mate i then decided that re-wiring the car would be a fun thing, so my mate did all the hard work and i supervised. and so the car was ready for the dyno one run in tune and a full tune later the car is now road legal high boost (17PSI) on BP98 pump gas then we moved to Ethanol and on 60% got the below results and some videos and a video a mate did from a dyno day after the run-in and before the full tune when we made the car run a bar of boost

time for an update, changed those 2200's to Xspurt 1550's which made a world of difference. do not use those 2200's... finally had the car back on the dyno and got some boost and ethanol into it. video of ethanol run here, and dyno plot below. High boost pump gas run
