Brake Ducts Revision 3 Finished
predator replied to tacker's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Interesting setup.. I'd be interested in whether channeling the air into such a small defined space is any better than the general flow effect over the wider area.. e.g. just removing the splash guards and allowing the air to pass through. -
What Is The Weight Of Air In A Tyre?
predator replied to predator's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I reckon you could be on the mark, I still haven't got around to working it out properly, but I'm figuring it's not too much.. as air in atmosphere = 14.5psi.. .air in tyre = 28psi = 1.93 ratio x some volume equations of air in a tyre and there you go. Just curious as to what a rim with a tyre and air weighs, compared to a bare rim weight. Silly I know. -
Now you explain it all it actually makes sense! yes, we know we're talking miles.. I think most assumed bonneville salt flats, as in one flat course, but a course with actual corners and I'd say a very less than optimal Cd in an older shape car.. I give credit where credit is due.

This is maybe an interesting one.. :sorcerer: What is the formula for calculating the weight for the volume of air contained in say an 'average' 17"x 8" rim with say an 255/35R17 tyre compressed at 28psi? Anybody? ok, we got pV = nRT where p is the absolute pressure [Pa], V is the volume [m3] of the vessel containing n\, moles of gas, n is the amount of substance of gas [mol], R is the gas constant [8.314 472 m3·Pa·K−1·mol−1], T is the temperature in kelvin [K]. Now to work it out.. sau is my 'paper' 1psi = 6,894.76 pascals p = 193,053.28 Pa @ 28psi T = 298.15K @25degC TBC

and what is this supposed to prove? Any r33 can go well above 200.. that's not 300, true, but with a bit of fiddling I am sure you could get it into the high 200's.. The top speed of my lexus is about 240km/hr. That's stock standard v8 from the early 90's Not that I've tested *that* one..

f**k you're old.. but I'm older so suck my goat.

Starter Motors R32 R33 Same Or Different?
predator replied to BillyMako's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I asked this exact same question about 2 months ago, and yes, they are the same.. use an R33 one, they crank faster. Got 33 one on my 32 -
Why do insure companies only insure a skyline unless it's stored in a locked garage if that is the case? Little more to that to get into the average garage.. and unless the garage was a fair way away from your room, I think you may just hear a large truck pulling up and breaking into your garage, etc. And if you've got a little more than a $2 immoboliser, they have a tilt feature built in as well. Basically the only insurer that will insure your car unless it's in a locked garage is Just Car. My other car which is worth market value a lot more than the skyline is parked outside and could get stolen much easier. Insurance is about half the skyline. I just think it's b.s. that they use 'no garage' as an excuse to not insure you.. The ones that do will take almost the same money, but the odds of it getting stolen from a locked garage, with an alarm, are probably tiny. pros.. pros don't steal skylines... they're not worth enough, and neither are the parts anymore.

I'd like to see how a car gets stolen from a locked garage with immoboliser no wonder the premiums are low

Wiring Rb25 Into R32....help Needed For 2-3 Wires
predator replied to Simon-S14's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah, you can unplug the box - I wasn't sure whether you needed it, but it seems it doesn't do much. r32 seems to have a similar arrangement on the other side of the engine bay instead. Black will probably be the ground, so maybe it's slightly different in yours. I'd go out and check and take some photos, but its raining and my car is covered, etc. -
Wiring Rb25 Into R32....help Needed For 2-3 Wires
predator replied to Simon-S14's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's exactly what you need to do. Find the orange wire in the r32 body loom near the ecu. It's a big fatty one. That goes to your wiper stalk in the car. Now in the engine bay, you've got the R33 engine loom's "plug that fits" plugged direct into the wiper motor right? Now if you trace it, you'll notice those wires don't go anywhere to the SMJ connector - where do they go? To this second plug on the rb25 loom right nearby. Do a continuity test and you'll see what I mean, and also look at the colour of wires. In the r33 obviously it connects to some other connector that comes out near the engine bay, but in R32 you want to instead run it back down again to the r32 body loom. Therefore, chop the following 3 wires at this second plug, and connect them to the following. There is a ground (white/black), Red/blue which is 12v IGN source to the wiper motor (any IGN wire to hook that one up), and finally orange.. Orange is the the one that you have to feed back to near the ecu area. ORANGE = wiper control Red/blue = 12V ignition White/black splotchy = ground -

predator replied to Simon-S14's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Look into my thread on rb25 conversion in FAQ section.. down the bottom is what you need to do with the wiper wiring.. orange wire basically has to go back into engine bay and to r32 body loom, where there is also an orange wire. -

My brother has a degree, in fact a fancy science degree and he is unemployed at the moment too. Slap him around? turn him into mad scientist? Even non-mad he got to kill chickens 'n shit.. I have other science friends, they kill mice..

It can be done apparently but a few changes are required. Your major difference is that the RB20det loom doesn't have VVT (or the) wiring. RB20 to RB25 - CAS is different (but fits same plug), ignitor needs to be rewired as pins are different but plug fits. You'd need to swap over the CAS, and rewire the ignitor. From memory I think wiring of two of the injectors is also swapped around. If you are using RB25 ECU with RB20 loom, other changes would be required as the pinouts vary in a couple of points.

well when all else fails.. a cash payment for somebody obviously who probably hasn't got $10 to their name might be a suitable enhancement to get her out ASAP -- allowing you to get paying tenants. It also allows her to go find another property as it's probably a small fortune to her, and in her mind think she can make a fresh start. If your insurance is covering it anyhow, why so worried?
