  1. Jvc.. alpine used to be a long way ahead of the pack, now a lof of the others have caught up.
  2. I still don't know what the big deal with the crack down on engineering at the moment.. how many accidents have taken place where the cause of the car has been anything other than driver error in a modified car? oh hum
  3. The turbo does not come with bend pipe, water lines, oil lines and is missing the actuator. can you read??? or is fidel too busy smoking too many wacky cigars??!
  4. the thing with the list is you can't get too excited by any on there, because most of them have already been sold by the time you enquire, its mainly just a marketing ploy to suck you in and get them to look for another similar car for you..
  5. foznice.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=72511 there was another black one i saw recently, and i've seen a couple of 4doors also at those sort of prices.
  6. Pretty much finished the DFA.. What is the spare POT for though ??? ignore the circle there

  8. did they check the bushes on the car? did they check the steering rack?
  9. if they don't have rego either, you also have to ask a) what problem made it too costly, or too difficult to get the shaken (or whatever it is) when rego renewal came up. B) how long has it been sitting there unrego'ed in some field somewhere? waiting for some guy to hear about overseas wanting old cars, quickly scrubbing it up and flogging it off.
  10. lol.. Anybody find it co-incidental that big story was run on ACA at about the same time (even though it was NSW).. somebody suggested that the police don't provide information to these shows to help encourage these stories old granny/family drive past "oh good, they're getting those damn hoons off the roads like I saw on TV the other night".. younger driver: "oh ****, I really need this just going about my everyday business".. Propoganda is an evil machine. There was another similar operation down near the NSW/QLD border recently.. similar sort of stuff, mainly warrants, but they used the opportunity to defect and pay for the event. Maybe its all just co-incidental, but who knows. I'm surprised you've avoided things inasnt.. you must be driving miss daisy these days
  11. yeah, thats what i used to build my 12" box a while back.. it was a great tool. unfortunately at the time I built it so the height was as high as possible to save on the other dimensions.. unfortunately for me I sold my R33, and now have an R32, and it doesn't fit! Anybody want to buy a nice 12" box to suit an R33 ?
  12. yeah, lots of people with GTR's also have big problems as they get older.. wouldn't say that its just 1989 ones to be fair. Hence why I'm not really going to buy a GTR anytime soon.. unless I have a *lot* to throw at it and/or buy a primo one..
  13. 15 year rule is about to finish anyday.. its tough looking locally, especially for an R32 (thats why I imported).. but already i've spotted a few decent 89 skylines for $12k or so, as there are more and more on the roads everyday. Prices will come down with the extra supply I think, and a few good ones at good prices will come up.
  14. I would have thought it would have been done for a reason.. and obviously a split pipe would involve more labour than one straight pipe.. so why not stick to it? 2x 2.5" = 5" total flow?? somebody may be able to enlighten us...
  15. them grey things are capacitors.. the small ones don't matter orientation.. but the larger can sized ones (black) will go pop if installed incorrectly as they have polarity (negative is the smaller lead, with the white arrow) Anybody about to commence doing the kit.. I reckon start with the hand controller as its nice and simple - and good practice or dust off of the soldering skills. Mine is together, took about 60mins I guess. After that move onto the other stuff.. I'm doing the DFA and its about 3 times the complexity of the hand controller, but its coming together. Doing the links is so tedious! You'll need some wire cutters and some small pliers to bend em. I found staples to be nice pre-bent ones
  16. well the problem with rust is that if there is some rust, that is visible, there is quite likely to be other little bits of rust elsewhere, like under the panels and things which is the major concern. Usually if there is rust, its not just in that one spot, its starting to come through in a few spots for whatever reason. If there is rust in the rear 1/4 panel, then thats (more) difficult to fix up, as a section has to be cut out, new section welded in.. smoothed, painted, etc - its not a cheap process to fix a bit of rust in the actual bodywork rather than external panel (where u can just take it off and replace the whole thing). You could just ring up a panel shop and "theroetically" say your car has a fist sized bit of rust "how much to fix" and you'll get an idea of how much it might cost you to get fixed That is why its a good turn off sign to go look at something else. Its not like you can take a drive and look at it locally, so I wouldn't be taking the risk personally. I do know that at the moment a lot of the "left" 1989/early 90 models are looking a bit more tired than 6-12 months ago... as there is less supply. If you are happy with a stock car (and that one is quite stock anyhow), you can just wait a bit and save a bit more money - and you'll get a cleaner car than most of the 89 ones and probably higher resale. Under SEVS, any rust is basically disallowed i think. So no importer will take the risk of getting one with major rust.
  17. don't buy a car with rust.. don't rush into anything.. what froggy said... and that car will cost you $9-10k on road, if you are lucky there.

good stuff.. If u want, when i come to pick up those tyres this weekend, I can bring on the Blitz I have, and you can stick that on for a quick try if it has the same flange - just to try a different one (oh, and I want to hear how it sounds myself before i do my cooler ) I've got a spare R33 crossover and BOV too.. are you using that stock boost solenoid still (or do you have an EBC) ? Maybe we can do a swap??
  19. this is why i love the internet.. let those who aren't familiar with its wonders pay the expensive prices.
  20. Well I have to put a couple of thousand dollars into a fairly clean R32 GTS-T so far.. just to fix all the minor things like worn bushes, installing decent stereo, replacement brakes, new tyres, etc.. But that was expected. Least the cost of most replacement parts is pretty cheap, and I am upgrading to performance items anyhow. For a GTR just multiply the cost a little, and pray to the engine, clutch, and gearbox gods for good fortune. But if you're just doing it for a quick buck, you can bet those minor things that will bother you aren't going to get fixed by the seller.
  21. I know, silly isn't it.. Majority are doing it for profit.. I think a few of the younger guys just didn't know how much they were really in for when they bought a GTR.. Don't seem to be many takers though.
  22. Well we have plenty of good freeways, most of 'em aren't toll (or if they are they are simply pay as you go, not stupid etag bullshit).. and the police aren't obsessed with speeding. No many more lives are saved. Now your petrol is about 10c/L more expensive than up here most of the time (due to state taxes), stamp duty on things such as property, etc is much higher, and if anything there is a larger population in VIC, so there should be a lot more people spending money available. I don't understand the massive reliance on camera revenue, nor how it should even be relied upon as a quantifiable part of a state budget. True, registration is $200 more expensive a year up here.. and you pay more acccording to whether you have an 8, 6cylinder, or 4 cylinder. But I would rather pay $200 more a year, than get fined at least $200 a year (or the stress of thinking about it), and/or pay easily that in extra petrol taxes. How about some better financial planning in government eh?
  23. The current ones on there look ok if you ask me.. a bit bland, but they could be worse. Personally I wouldn't be running anythting larger than 17's on an R32 as you may well have guard rubbing problems. Tyres are much cheaper in 17" if you drive hard also. Depends whether you drive your car for show or go I guess. Wheels are an expensive thing to spend money on a car though... $2000 odd dollars can buy a heck of a lot of other mods.
  24. My stuff arrived today.. thanks shan for organising it all! Now lets see how good my soldering skills are, it's been a while...
