  1. No legally in many states.. you'd have to ask your transport department in a "theoretical" phone call. yeah, with the compliance costs of about $4k actually. It was just a rough figure looking at a few jap dealers and auction sites. I was trying to work out what a newer car would cost.. as I imported a car, but it was 1989.. I've just been having a look at some of the newer ones and trying to work out their value under SEVS. My car was $7200 landed (15 year certificate not included in that), and was 250,000yen for a complete stocker.. you can work it from there.. if you're looking at a car 400,000yen , for which you'd get a late model manual for that price, then that is only $1800AUD more for the vehicle itself in japan.. then shipping, etc all that is the same... so the landed price is really just the price difference in japan You just have to allow the extra $3-4k SEVS compliance which is the more expensive part. .. actually that works out at about $13k.. not too bad.. If you get a grade4 and pay top dollar then I guess $15k is still decent if you really love the r32. Its just that the R33 can be found locally for almost the same prices these days, and might get a different set of rims with it, etc. . It doesn't *really* stack up logically unless you really do like the R32 just for emotional reasons
  2. an mainly skyline affair would be great, but I don't think it's meant to be. Both my friend's I asked had a large number of reasons why they couldn't take out perfectly good skylines either
  3. the ignitor is related to the coils you are using and the ECU.. if you have a s2 each coil fires individually from the ecu, rather than the ignitor firing them..
  4. More than likely you have either not plugged it in fully...or you need to run thicker gauge wiring to the battery for the 12v source.. anyhow, i'm just regurgitating.. It's all here in the very excellent PowerFC FAQ by paulr33 http://members.dodo.com.au/paul/skylinesau...erfc-faq.htm#18
  5. yeah, oops  I need a dump pipe off him in a couple of weeks as well
  6. yeah, true - it does need to be checked out. I'll take it to a suspension place in a couple of weeks and get some proper measurements done. I'll post the results when I get them.
  7. just go to BATML.. he is a trusted trader on this forum.. I believe his price is around $200..
  8. rolin imports.. anyhow, there is a search function which is amazing..
  9. Don't go to bunnings, go to a boat supplies shop.. they should be able to advise you on a few things, and will have a large range of fibreglass products that are more suitable for the job.
  10. POSERS!! were you really tough and did laps of the esplenade?
  11. It's quite possible, as I did have to disconnect a tie-rod to put on a new rack boot. I thought I had marked it down properly, but it is quite possible its out. The car does drive straight and true whilst the hands are off the wheel, it just shudders. It just seems a little like camber, as I think I can spot the wheels sitting outwards more at the bottom when I look at the car on level ground. The other item I was thinking about could be castor rods.. as the bushes in there don't look too healthy either. But from what I understand this would have more of an effect on turning rather than straight line?
  12. I am having some problems with the front end in my R32. The first is that its suffering from some major front camber issues, which is fairly visible, and the tyres on the inside are very worn (to the canvas on one side ). As far as I can tell, its still got the stock shocks and springs, wich makes it a little strange, as it should still be stock ride height. It still has the stock 16" rims. The wheel to guard measurement on each side i've measured to be 38mm. Could it be possible that the springs are getting old, starting to sag, and dropping the standard height? The front end does experience some guard scrub on high speed cornering on banked corners (don't ask), which tends to indicate to me floaty/worn springs?? I was leaning towards it's almost time to replace the factory springs for some Whitelines, so if it is most likely to be that, hopefully that fixes the problem. One upper control arm was replaced about a month ago for a brand new one. The other is fairly worn, but bushes aren't completely rotted on that side yet. The second thing I'm noticing (which I think is related?) is that the steering shakes pretty violently at anything above 90km/hr, making for a pretty uncomfortable drive. I'd say its fairly related to the above. I have swapped the rims/tyres with replacement tyres (also nearly bald ammitedly, but more even wear) just recently to eliminate that, and same problem. So it doesn't seeem to be tyre/balance related? The problem seems to have got worse recently, but I am not exactly sure.
  13. myth busters.. lol .. I would have thought even if there was ceramic on the piston crowns, it wouldn't take long before it was blasted into powder anyhow. It's probably correct though, that when you think about it, the turbo is 95% likely to blow the turbo whilst under the foot under full boost.. blowing it out the exhaust, rather than back up the intake.
  14. nah.. they all run 10psi stock.. including mine. I think the ceffys run slightly lower boost stock out of the factory for some reason. I'm about to embark on full exhaust, rb25 turbo, fmic, and probably S-AFC.. Should be interesting to see how it goes, especially with an ...auto  (until that gets munced) 250rwhp is about 185rwkw.. so that seems to be expected. 250rwHP always sounds a bit more impressive - even though its just smoke and mirrors Standard RB20 turbo you can get around 160rwkw.. add in the rb25 turbo and you gain another 20-30 at the wheels. boosted_32: back to your original question.. I reckon around 300rwhp (220-230rwkw).
  15. lol - this is coming from the jew himself..
  16. I will probably be at the May 9th day, seeing as the other one I think is going to struggle to find numbers. And apparently everybody thinks their skyline is the most fragile car ever made. I have been to two days so far, one in my clapped out daily driver R31 (as i was still waiting on the 32 at the time), which did fine in warm heat.. this is a car nearly 20 years old, still pretty much stock as they come and past the 300,000km mark. Sure I was probably the slowest, but I had great fun and learned a heap about the whole day. Nothing broke. The other was in the R32 as stock as they come auto (with only brakes and decent tyres), and again in 37 degree track temperature the car had no dramas, and I had a blast. Nothing broke. I think the main fear seems to be car failure and of the wallet.. but of all the cars the other week.. all left under their own steam. Just get out there. It's $200 at the end of the day, and maybe a day off work, but boy.. is it one awesome day if you love driving hard! I couldn't really think of a better way to spend $200 myself -- there is not much better you can do, and I've done a few of the adventure things over the years. p.s. it impresses the chicks.. lol
  17. interesting.. http://www.accusump.com/acc_products/acc_units.html
  18. on a sidenote, are there any signs other than the darkening of the oil to show that it has been breaking down and becoming less effective?
  19. that's a bit skummy.. trying to take credit for other people's work when they were the route of the problems in the first place!
  20. sigh.. i have the cooler pipes dude.. i will only sell them for a premium of $50, as i was going to use them in my piping setup. either that or do you have anything r32 related worth swapping?
  21. who the fug is fullsic? does he have photos ? has anybody met the guy? or is he full of crap does anybody actually care?
  22. yeah.. $290 is fine.. let me know your details and I'll transfer the deposit.. pickup in a couple of weeks (or whenever you get them in)
  23. bloody precious gtr owners i don't know!
  24. I've just sold my other car.. and now have many $ to spend on the r32.. logan voice: you'z are all ****ed.. lol I can see whether i can pull out two skyline owning mates. I keep mentioning how good it is but they are yellow. Making it a sunday maybe good on the convincing argument..
