  1. I think its still a bit of EOI If I am guessing correctly? So we will need at least 15 cars or it is not worth going ahead with the day. p.s. you guys who don't have one will also have to factor in $50 for a QR racing licence I believe.. this requires a valid drivers licence i think as well.. i.e. if you have lost your licence currently you might have to sit out.
  2. in.. I was up for the May track day anyhow.. dress code is yes.. plus you need a giant pea on your head josh.. to match your brain hmm.. hopefully I can get an upgrade done in time or I'll be last .. that can't be good..
  3. yeah.. it's not actually that dangerous. The chances of the petrol station going up are next to none. Has anybody ever heard of it *actually* happening in Australia? My old man said back 20 years or so it was pretty common to see somebody having a smoke at the petrol station. I remember as a kid he used to do similar in his old EH. If a hot car with a turbo glowing comes down from a hard run in the mountains doesn't blow up a petrol station, or red hot brakes, a hot engine, etc - the chances of a relatively small amount of heat/fire on a cigarette doing it are slim. It's a paranoid world these days we live in, with urban myths, the mass media, this and that spreading stories. I am sure there is a chance it could happen, and I guess its not a great idea. But the odds are fairly low.
  4. or a pulsar.. or a corolla.. or an old ford. not a calibra..
  5. There is a cap over the nut at the back. Remove the cap, remove the nut (which is not easy, as the hub will spin). You may need the wheel on the ground to hold it down, and chock it. I think it will be 30mm thread - big sucker.
  6. differences between 89 and 1993 are mainly just visual. If you can get a later model it will probably better worth your while in the long-run, as there are quite a few 1989 ones around now. Some don't want much to do with a 89 model just because. Some of the later models had ABS as an option, but it was pretty rare.
  7. he's also banneed.. hehe
  8. drilled.. only need 3 if you want it complied as a 5 seater.. otherwise 2 points will make it a 4 seater. Anybody ever tried to fit 5 people in an R32? I know I wouldn't be itching too. I did it right first time by asking questions.. saved $600..
  9. why does it have to be non-turbo ? I have one for RB20DET.. was working fine when I pulled it out.. $30 see no reason why it won't work in a non-turbo.
  10. erm, am I missing something or...
  11. times like that the hand controller would be useful eh?
  12. rocker covers can be exchanged very easily..and the center cover, that's no guarantee.. Saw a bloke with an RB30DET worked to the nines with a simple red-top cover the other day. nice look
  13. for godsakes.. put some clothes on boy.. you're glowing in the dark..
  14. well their name is already mud.. they won't stay in business for long.. Happens to most of the dodgy shops sooner or later.
  15. MJKAPC.. I've measured it, and the 450x300x75 cooler is that much better for fitting under an R32 gts-t with stock front bar.. compared to the extra 20cm of the larger one that many people have (and cut to crap front bars) You will still have to cut the bottom of the bar a little.. but you shouldn't have to cut the main bumper support due to the width, which you would for the larger one. So I believe anyhow, that is should be a much better fit, and that's why I'm getting one so buy one, and I can save $20
  16. draw the h pattern in the hugest bit of paper you can find and write it on with a texta.. just to take the piss and make a point.
  17. It can be imported sure, but it has to be returned to totally stock form to get complied and on the road.. more expense than it is worth.
  18. hey ben - how could you get for 118km/hr ? Don't they have to give you 10% ? Harsh break, everybody does those speeds during peakhour.
  19. well there may have been problems the inspection didn't pickup, the car could have had a problem that could have been exasperated by giving it a good workout.. Any skyline should be able to be driven on redline for a couple of hundred km without a problem, if there was no problem. To be honest I doubt it wouldn't have been anything you wouldn't have done sometime in the first 6 months of ownership to cause the same end-result. Its just one of those grey areas, and shit happens. The way I figure with these things, if it was going to happen it was going to happen. It just happened to happen before you got hold of it really, which was a pity. Getting angry at anybody doesn't solve anything, fixing the engine will solve the problem.
  20. 1) If you mean "engineers plate", yes you need that. This is different to an official compliance plate as on the SEVS or older system for cars newer than 15 years. It basically says "this vehicle meets ADR's for 1989" 2) yes, you will need the aussie VIN attached to the firewall, which is at the bottom of your import approval. 3) See point 1).. no. I registered mine after compliance.. there were a few confusing stories I got, but in the end I spoke to the manager at QLD transport, and what i thought was correct. You basically just need the above, a valid safety cert, the CTP papers, and your import approval (they check this). That is all you will need. You will have to also pay stamp duty, and a little bit extra for the issue of new plates.
  21. cops.. driveability, expensive extras required.. there are many reasons not to go right for the huge turbo.. except for bragging rights.
  22. I think if you're going that far, you might want to consider importing a later model GTR and not getting it complied.. Why wouldn't you want a WRX? For $20k you could get a hot stinker of a done up WRX from japan.. even if you wrote it into a wall, you'd be able to sell most of the parts and stay clear. or an early EVO I or II like Roy is suggesting. As for GTS4 personally I think you are better with the R32 GTS-T as there are more options, less stuffing without the 4wd, less complex system to break.. and the 100kg or so weight difference, which you will feel.
  23. don't think anybody was taking pics actually.. see one bunch of skylines, you've seen them all
  24. think that dog might be a little worried next time it gets into that car, even if its just on a drive down to the local shops
  25. 2) is side feed.. more fiddling around..
