  1. lol - any skyline 10 years old is just as likely to be experiencing the same problems.
  2. :werd: to being a tightass!! So is most of australia, and that is why we have some of the oldest vehicles in the Western world.. Thing is we could follow the NZ model, but there would be too much outcry over loss of jobs, and many manufacturers would be the first ones to "blame" the import of cheap overseas vechicles for their downfall. However, in about 10 years the local industry will be dead anyhow, so it won't really matter too much will it? We *will* be following the NZ model, and allowing cheaper imports Because of the strong housing market, propped up by interest rates (which should be a lot higher than they are) and an uncertain overseas situation.. our dollar is some of the highest it's been for nearly 20 years... making the export on items such as vehicles, very poor right now - and that is the only hope the local manufacturers really have of staying in the local market long-term. Mitsu is practically gone.. Ford is probably next..and somewhere after that Holden and Toyota might have to cave. We're talking 10-20 years, but the likelihood is quite high. The economics is very interesting (even though my knowledge is vague these days)
  3. hmm.. my bet it won't be - but you would think with the amount of people around the world with skylines, and other vehicles running the PFC they would. And the US market, which is big for Apexi now there would be a need. It's not as if you're translating massive lines and lines of text into english either - just damn labels! Quite interesting. Probably bit expensive for the amateur, but if more workshops can get hold if it at a relatively cheap price it's a great thing. Guess they realised everybody was pirating it all anyhow, and this way you can get the proper cable easily.
  4. Take off steering wheel.. Now, undo center bolt, or as suggested undo it until its nearly at the end of its thread so it prevents you knocking yourself out (unless that sounds fun to you). Now put the steering wheel *back* onto the boss, putting back the screws that attach it so its as it was (just with the center nut loose) Now using the wheel as a kind of puller itself just keep yanking it forward, jiggling it, etc - and eventually it should pop off.. once you've got it loose, take off the steering wheel again, remove center nut, remove boss, and away you go.
  5. yes, actually that is probably a better approach, using it as a sort of slide hammer, which I think I also used at one point.. although it still did hit me in the face.. lol..
  6. it may be stuck on a fair bit unfortunately.. try and lube it with WD40 in there.. and try jiggling back and forth with small motions. Otherwise what I would be doing (and I often take the dodgy brutal approach) is to drop the steering column as far as possible, get a bar behind it to sit facing the front (this is for my last one, it had a sort of frame structure).. and bash behind using a hammer.. small taps might be enough. Yes, there is a sticker in there usually that says "do not use force", it may damage your steering, etc. But it never has on the last car.
  7. ..or what about the 4 manifold bolts for the turbo and then just removing the whole turbo, dump and all
  8. well the thing is it just makes anything from about 89 till about 94 a waste of time.. $14k onroad for a stock S13.. I know everybody would be itching to go import one of them under SEVS.. $15k onroad for a stock R32 GTS-T.. you have to be pretty keen! It'll do what they want it to do and stop the importation of older vehicles.. they know that, they have thought about that, and they are happy about that.
  9. good stuff.. shows how clueless the workshops can often be.. they'll always blame the coilpacks before anything else.. There should be a problem shoot flow diagram on here .. could save a lot of people headaches.
  10. actually.. what am I thinking.. I have a free gearbox for you squizz! an rb20 auto box! yours for absolutely free.. but get in quick, these things sell like hotcakes.. Actually here is one.. see what i mean: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=66175
  11. why does each model get heavier though? soon the aussie cars will be up over 2tonnes.. for a passenger / performance vehicle. It's a bit extreme.
  12. thanks for those 8 seconds of pleasure ... better luck next time..
  13. nice stuff.. hope you enjoy the stagea! there aren't too many around the coast. so when are the little ones coming along?
  14. they are "free", as in for a free exchange of money you can purchase one.. you could always be tight and get a GTS4 gearbox from somewhere, or just scavenge the parts from one.
  15. didn't anybody tell you triple's destroy gearboxes ? Anyhow, just get a gearbox out of a 33 GTR, they are stronger anyhow.. and cheap - cheaper than the GTS-T boxes often. OS giken gearset.. you know you are rich..
  16. you would last probably less than a week on the goldcoast with one of them..
  17. yes... You have to question the handling of anything 1700kg or more.. even if it does have a billion kw.
  18. drift is the synchronised swimming of the motorsport world...
  19. the search function has never not worked on this forum!! Sure, the rest of the site may be slow as hell sometimes, but the search has *always* worked.. You have to wait until the whole page has loaded, then it brings down the box..
  20. Your main problem is having 18's in the first place.. the tyres are just damn expensive even for the cheapest..
  21. ...I'd be wary.. sat there for 2 years? that can't be too good..
  22. I was mainly getting at how they are to drive, the handling, the "feel" of driving and sitting in one, not necessairly the straight line performance. Through the mountains the other night, the R32 was much better totally stock, and crappy auto as well.. than the handling of my old R33 ever was. anyhow, the r32 will be manual soon enough.. I'm going to stick the RB25 turbo on the r32 in a month or so.. that will be interesting.. as the stock 32 turbo is a bit too undersized for the engine.
  23. have a look on the LHS strut tower.. you should see a little cylinder bolted there with two small tubes going to it, and an electronic plug.. that is your boost solenoid. Just see whether that is hooked up.. and whether the hoses are actually going anywhere. I assume you are talking R33 ??
  24. ouch.. yeah, my first pick was japan arrival
  25. I thought the GTS (non turbos) in R33, all came with LSD as well.. unless on purchase in japan it was optioned out of the spec list to save a whole $500 or something ?? It's possible the GTS had non-viscous type however (similar to R32 gts-t)..
