  1. Well I don't know.. some seem to think an R32 should only be worth is $10k.. thing is they're not.. or they would be $10k.. And if they're above $10k, and you don't want to pay that much.. Don't buy one. Compare it to what else you get from 89-93, that has climate control, elec windows, elec mirrors, bucket seats, 4 pot brakes that stop on a dime, very nimble handling, about 160kw and to some looks nice and sporty. Oh, and I'd say they are very reliable cars, as long as you know what you are doing. Previously I had a 180rwkw R33 which I had for nearly 2 years, bought with roughly the same power figures (i.e. well above stock), not one problem, and as far as I know, when I sold it equally without problems. I wasn't that gentle, and I know the stories of quite a few others on this forum which have equally few problems. Try buying a 15 year old SS, Magna, Porsche, Lancer, etc and see how that treats you in terms of dramas I have no problems buying modified cars, but I would prefer to do it locally, where I can inspect the car myself.

    Muffler Query

depends on the muffler design.. not the end tip size..
  3. All you'd have to do is check the signup IP address.. and if it was the same for a number of accounts simply block or ban that IP. Makes it difficult, as they'd have do to it over a number of days, etc. You can also ban "free" email addresses for signup, such as hotmail, etc. Then they'd have to obtain 20 different alternative email addresses to create 20 different accounts. Again, that makes it quite painful. Most of the time it's just lazy shits anyhow or people trying to do a quick spam and never come back here anyhow. In a month's time they would have forgotten about it. Won't stop the serial offenders, no, but it will piss them off and make life difficult for them to do it, which is what it's about.
  4. yeah, i got a manual box sitting around, lightened flywheel, clutch requiring new plate.. pedals.. just need a few other bits and can get on it in a couple of months
  5. If you actually read the document Nexus posted, you would see that it clearly says the 535 has a lower flow rate.. and the damn document is WRITTEN in German, which would tend to indicate it IS talking about the German pump. So you are saying that there are two pumps that are exactly the same, one has a part number of 535, and the other has 044 - but the 044 is the same as the 535? But there is a 535 which is *also* a different part manufactured in a different country with a lower rate? And these are sold by a large multinational company with conflicting part numbers?
  6. just looking at the moment.. in QLD there is only 4x R32 GTS-T's advertised in the trading post. .. there are 18x R33 GTS-T None of the R32 are under $13k..
  7. Well obviously, but good on him. His aim is to make a profit. What choice do you have? Don't buy the car at all, or try and cut into his profit.. which he should know he will get compared to all others available in the market when the correct seller comes along (which isn't the guy trying to beat him down a heap of money). Who else can import a 'super cheap 89 model' in another weeks time? I know it seems "unfair" but that's business, that's life. Anyhow, it's perfectly possible it's nearly cost him $12k to get it to that point.. 350,000 yen car.. over here, $10k, $2k for compliance and onroad costs. Usually profit makers aren't in it for the short haul, they can wait 2-3 months to sell the car, as a few thousand dollars is worth taking longer to sell.
  8. I should be there.. one stock R32 with stuffed auto.. stand back boys.. I'm going to blast a 16..
  9. Well I finally got the 32 registered.. nice drive (seems to handle better stock than my old modded R33). Could do with some more power, but plenty of time for that soon  My main problem at the moment is that the auto trannie is pretty buggered. Seems to slip out at the 'fun revs'. There appears to be enough fluid in there, and it's fairly clear, so that is out the window. I might change it so I at least know what is in it I guess at some point. . I know on some of the earlier boxes (i.e. aussie R31) you can actually tighten up the belts by tightening a few external bolts on the box. Is this possible on the later skyline boxes? Any other solutions? Just want to tighten things up a bit if it's at all possible, before tossing the slushy in a couple of months..
  10. He'll probably tell you to **** off.. I would.. If you are asking a price, you obviously are doing it for a reason, and because you know you can get it. That is a very fair price for that sort of car in today's market, even if it is 89. With the 2nd one, that is pretty high, unless you really, really must have an R32. You could get the same, if not further modified R33 for that price, and the R33 has many advantages and would hold the resale better/easier to sell probably.
  11. no I don't.. because some came with tape players, and some came with CD players So just the standard radio / cassette ?
  12. I think that is a very good idea.. At least must be registered for 1 month to be able to sell any items. Stops the idiot opportunist.. save the mods work, saves many problems. The only problem with a "xx posts" is that it just encourages idiot one line posts, and things like that - which becomes irritating. Should just be one month registered. That should fix a large number of the problems. It would also stop the mines_datsuns/dori_doris of this world coming back and trying to continue their somewhat dubious trading practices each time they are banned. Won't eliminate it totally, just make it frustrating for them. Also would save the "post once, don't come back here for 3-4 weeks and answer any questions or respond to any PM" problem.
  13. don't worry, i've calmed down
  14. put it this way though.. you spend $7k and get some lucky breaks and get it fixed.. assuming you paid $16k you have theoretically bought a $23k car .. now only worth maybe $16k on sale time in the next 12 months (assuming you find a buyer). So that $7k is a worthless sunk cost.. Now if you can sell the car for about $9k for parts, that is your "break even" point... where you may as well screw the time / effort getting it fixed.. and just flog the parts. Anything above $9k for all the parts makes sense.. anything under $9k doesn't. Do the maths.. think the costs.. and it should all make logical sense
  15. you can bend the end lips though enough not to obscure things.. just get it on a flat edge and start bashing with a hammer until 90deg
  16. tell them to **** off.. there is nothing you can do about it to change it as that is the way the car is desgined.. short of QLD transport changing the plate design. moving the plate will also make it defectable, as you won't have any number plate lights on it. why the **** should you have to pay big $$$ to get slimline plates and support the rort that is the ppq scheme if you don't want to ? its bullshit, it's all bullshit.. cops are shitheads.. go speak to one of the senior people the police station where you were booked and ask them how there is meant to be a solution. It's like saying "oh we've decided having 4 wheels is defectable.. but go fix it eh"
  17. rb's sound better andrew :kick:
  18. Purple 33 sedan along near the Sharks club in Labrador.. no idea who's it was but awesome colour..
  19. It's an interesting one...Seems quite possible actually. Lots of people try the "usual" stuff of AFM, coils, plugs, etc and still have some problems. Let us know the results.
  20. Most DOT 4 or 5 fluids are for high temperature use so would do, but obviously some are better than others. I usually always hear Motul recommended as well.
  21. $600 is pretty good...but you're spending $600 just so you can put some ricey rims on? They must be really worth it! So this is all 4 corners? Shouldn't be hard to do yourself.. couple of days work.. You'll need some decent quality sockets, few big spanners, breaker bar.. 19mm, 17mm, 14mm and 12mm bolts are most of the ones around that area. If you need any tips, let me know.. I just did a brake conversion myself. I pretty much know how the whole thing fits together.
  22. eye for an eye.. you scar my car.. I scar your face
  23. who is going to know though? hundreds of skylines get sold like that right around australia each year, that have been in that or worse.. most before it even gets to our country.
  24. not another wreck.. too many r33 out there already.. they're all in melb and sydney too Well.. Looks like about at least 2000-3000 worth of parts, depending on where you get them from.. radiator, bonnet, lhs guard, grill, intercooler, headlights, aircon piping, etc. Then there is fixing up the chasis, then there is whatever other work that needs to be done of that nature.. maybe a couple of grand there. Then you need a full front respray.. another $1-2000 there.. It's not a complete write-off I wouldn't say, but quite close to it. I've seen skylines like that get fixed. Often it looks worse than it is. . but yeah, not cheap.. you snooze.. you lose..
