    Leaving VIC!

Yeah, its shit isn't it. You could always do what I did, I flogged off nearly everything I owned on ebay.. suckers paid 3/4 to 4/5 what I paid for them. Bed, washing machine, fridge, tv, etc.. You lose maybe a $200 on each item... but you can move to QLD and buy it all back again brand new . Cost me about $1k that way What I had left at the time all fit in the R33 I always though the other idea.. was to rent a budget truck.. for like a few days.. Open up the dash, disconnect the odometer - drive it to wherever with all your stuff, and then plug the odometer back in. Of course this may be highly dodgy / illegal / fraudulant, if you crashed you're in BIG trouble..lol
  2. I've got a water temperature gauge I'd like to install on the 32 (rb20det). Where is the best place to install the sender? Mainly it's just to keep an eye on the coolant temps when on the track. There isn't an extra stock position nissan has provided that is bunged off is there? Alternatively, does anybody know where I can get a cheap sandwich plate / tube for like $30 that sits in the radiator hose, like I have seen?? I'd make one myself as it would be pretty easy, but unfortunately I don't know how to weld
  3. how about you just dig up 50 old threads on this topic and read though them eh?
  4. and they'll magically bounce to their feet and they'll be fine anyhow, like I said Can somebody cite an instance where a carbon fibre bonnet has caused a dangerous result, other than the accident itself? - doesn't seem like too many examples forthcoming are there...
  5. in my book the'yre all ****wits.. ****wits getting angry at other ****wits.. isn't life grand..
  6. Ok, well today I replaced the steering rack boots on my R32. My other ones had kind of split in half on both sides. So anyhow, go down to your local Repco store, and you can get them - the Repco part number is RRB033 for each (they are repco branded). They cost me $14.50 each, and are pretty much an exact match. I am pretty certain these would be same as R33 as well (maybe that is why there is an 033 on the end?)
  7. ok.. well there are two methods.. first is adjusting the catch for the door itself: Unscrew the two screws for the shackle, and there will be enough to move it up or down a little. That way you can adjust it up, down, by a few mm.. and this will lift the door, mainly when its closed. This may be enough to fix it, but generally it just adjusts the end point angle... the next is a little more tricky, adjusting the whole door. you'll probably need two to do this.. but open the door fully.. you'll want something to support the door at the end handle (use a rag or something under whatever it is you're using to prop it up) underneath. Again, another person could be nice. Then you'll have to undo the hinge bolts near the front guard.. basically they have a bit of adjustment in there, so you can slide the hinge up and down a few mm.. Whilst your mate holds the door closest to the hinges and pulls it up.. unscrew them, then this should pull the door up slightly. Then adjust the bolts back down. It may take a few times to get it right, and the bottom and top hinges all adjust how it works. It's a bit of a bitch of a job, and can take a few hours of ****ing around, but in the end you should be able to fix it either completely, or a fair bit. p.s. I've noticed a lot of sideskirts really don't have much room under their anyhow, the door isn't really designed to have a sideskirt lip wedged under it Most seem to scrape.
  8. you could always give this a try.... Fit it in between the speedo wire and the ecu.. http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?...peedo+corrector
  9. emissions would also be improved.. in their eyes an upgrade
  10. I think they should do nothing.. why are they always changing the system every 5 minutes in every state? Keep the same rules in place for 10 years.. saves a lot of ****ing around. They can only save so many lives, it's at the minimum - government needs to get over it on focus on other things.
  11. yes, the thread didn't have to mention names.. there was another thread, but that has gone.. about his actions off the forum at an event doing clever stuff..
  12. this knob should not be making a cent off users on this forum .. he's been done as a "bad trader" in the past, and now he is miraculously allowed on here.. Please, please can he rip somebody off so he can be charged with fraud?
  13. yeah, i was watching that.. spins you out doesn't it..
  14. the top ones either look like blood shot eyes.. or afterburners from a plane.. I dunno, they're something different. Could look worse.
  15. foznice: yeah, that is what I would say will happen... as now 1989/early 90 models, can even fetch more than 91/92 models, over in Japan which doesn't make sense. So maybe for the same price, or even less you get a clean 91 or 92 model, SEVS that, and maybe pay $2k more on road. But you get a car which is worth at least $2k more than an earlier car over here, so it would probably even out. Also as more people (hopefully) import SEVS R32, the compliance costs on them will come down a bit. Not a heap, but a little. R33 SEVS compliance costs have come down from $4500 at the start.
  16. yup.. even gives me some time to do a few things before March 15th and it's first track day Thinking might get and install 3" dump to cat..
  17. yup, all is done.. just need the safety cert.. and should be on road monday or tues. Was a bit nervous as I wasn't sure whether everything had been done to spec, but apparently all was fine, he signed off, and all was done. So was pretty happy when I got that call..
  18. bahahasha.. that video captured the essence of the whole night. .. good shit matt.. Well the Slayer thing came from Charly looking like typical metal guy .. it was really just random metal band
  19. hey
  20. but nex: it says "do not remove" .. How could i go against the plate's wishes..
  21. Ok..Well my 32 is *finally* blue plated.. Here is what was required. Note this may not be a definitive list, as each engineer may have their own minor variations unfortunately. But anyhow, this is what I personally needed to do on my 1989 R32 GTS-T (2 door).... Intrusion Bars:: Required in both doors. In mine, one door had already been done (must have been replaced with later model door). Cost: $320. If both had been done I believe the cost was $520. For 4 door budget $300-$400 more, and each door has to be done. Fuel Fille restrictor:: This is required in QLD. This was charged as part of the above, but think they're only about $40-$50. Not so available from your standard parts place however. I also stuck a "unleaded fuel sticker" I made up (don't think this is required) Seatbelts:: These must ALL be replaced for QLD, no matter what the condition of the factory belts. The only brand AFIAK is "Klippan" that do these. These are quite expensive if purchased new. Cost: $400ish NEW for a set of 4x. Repco, or Supercheap can get the correct ones in for you. R32 requires the non-stem one buckles at the end - I think it's called a "stan buckle" Childrestraints: Required for each backseat that has seatbelts. Cost was $15 each one (Supercheap). If you want it complied as a 5 seater, you'll have to do a 3rd one. Otherwise it is 2x required - and you're only legally allowed 4 passengers. These must be installed center of seating position - mine were done about 3/4 way back towards window. Personally I'd rivet, as well as use the center bolt (this may be required). Driver Mirror: Must be replaced with flat glass, not concave. $15 or so to get the glass cut and installed from a glass cutter. I've got a tutorial in the DIY section on how to remove the glass. Tyres: Not sure exactly: I put new tyres on the rear as they were shagged. Think they may just have to legal tread - although even that is probably more a Safety Certificate item. High level stop light: Required. If you have an R32 GTS-T and stock wing, this has LED stop light in it, and will pass. If you have a 4 door, GTR, or your std. spoiler has been removed.. You'll need to install one. VIN Plate: You'll have to get your new VIN number off the bottom of your import approval, and get it engraved onto a bit of metal. Stick or rivet on. Cost $20. Mod Plate Certification itself: $250.. My car was totally stock (oh a strut brace), so if you have modifications things could get tricky. Thanks to everybody who helped with bits and pieces of info over the last couple of months to get me to this stage. Just passing it back to help some others out there. This guy sounds like a sensible bloke
  22. Isn't she beawtiful??
  23. AFIAK only one manufacturer does the belts anyhow in Oz, so that is a moot point. Go to Repco, they should be able to provide you what you need, or get one in stock for you. You might need a model code, as they often give blank stares when mentioning "import skyline". There are two types for the different buckles.. one has a stalk, one attaches to the seat direct.. R32 is the shorter version.. From what I remember R33 had them on a stalk.
  24. Can somebody cite an instance where a carbon fibre bonnet has caused a dangerous result, other than the accident itself?
  25. lol.. you're as bad as me duncan.. one day I would like to cause an accident braking ridiculously for a speed camera.. this is my goal. if more people did that they'd be banned. Either that and "braking too excessively for speed camera" would be made an offence. Actually it can tend to happen anyhow.. a whole line of traffic drives ridiculously slow because of a camera everybody can see - what is that doing for the "flow of traffic"
