  1. well i recently got back from driving to melb to qld, through inland country NSW (newell hwy) and all of that. i was driving the old box which runs regular, so can't say I was checking every stop, but most of the larger ones along the way had Premium of some type (maybe not optimax, but premium 96RON). You may find it hard to find Shell servo's the whole way, but if you pace it properly you could probably get away with just Shell. Through NSW at least, it may be 100km between fuel stops. If you go along the Hume, or more towards the coast, you should have even less problems. Most of the big roadhouse stops have had Optimax for many years now.
  2. More specifically for a HR31 (import) - but will the R200 center, or in fact whole diff assembly be swapped off a latter skyline (R32, r33) ? Do you have to change just the internals, or can you straight swap the whole housing with everything? Basically, what I am asking is there any difference in the housings of any of the R200 diffs? I am pretty sure they do, just want to make sure.
  3. I reckon if you're going to have a nice car, you need a garage. Depends on where you live, but expect multiple breakins and even just shitty little kids keying it, etc. For about 6 months I had my R33 outside in the QLD sun and the signs were starting to become obvious, although nothing happened to it like the above. 2-3 years like that and I know the paint may have needed attention. Rain isn't a problem as long as the car doesn't have any leaks.. It's that tiny leak where the water always runs down and always sits somewhere hidden away that causes the probs.. That is where your rust will develop. I bought a cover from kmart for $70 (just a standard "large" one).. it didn't scratch the paint or anything like that. I would be using that if its going to be outside for weeks at a time. If somebody starts ferretting around the car cover it might be a bit more obvious, its also a tiny extra security precaution.
  4. I would have thought it would cost you maybe $10k more to have one imported, than buy locally - unless it was some special edition or something like this that was hard/impossible to get in australia. They command a relatively high price in japan just like Australia for their cult status.. by the time you add the $10k for shipping, and duty.. I'd say it would be much cheaper to buy one locally??
  5. lol - some well known ceffy lover was looking at that one as well
  6. cya bennie boy.. have a good one.. hope it goes well
  7. buying cars kind of makes you too poor to afford to buy companies though Mind you even a mindless african donkey could do a better job than the current people running Nissan.. this is possibly where I could come in.
  8. can i huh? though.. were you being a naughtly little whore again Ben ?? you know if its not on, its not on, right?...
  9. ... hmm..
  10. as long as it's got Pentae's seal of approval then.. I'm buying one!! i was a bit apprehensive at first, but now Pentae has ok'ed it then my mind is at ease.. j/k
  11. would i have a problem if i bought another skyline?? :-s
  12. excitement!
  13. how much does that thing weigh? that will dictate how much power you'll need to get a 10second pass.
  14. ich bin bored
  15. ich bin bored
  16. just block the wastegate.. that is uber efficient
  17. sounds like the typical old-school mechanic who has no idea about newer electronic ignition cars $800 for injectors? cripes.. i got a set you could have had for $50.. so did you replace all the sensors? a proper autoelec should have been able to track down the wiring problem in a day at worst. Sounds like incompetance or "can't be bothered" at best on behalf of these mechanics!
  18. yeah, sounds like they're out of content again.. how about an article on how to drift a Nissan Patrol??
  19. update: just got the glass replaced today.. Only cost $15 from a glass place up here. As the stock stuff is thinner that what you'll usually find around, they may have to use the thicker 3mm stuff - but that will fit. Yes, as Just says, you will probably need to take the backing plate so they can fit it in properly. For the $15 and they bonded it in there and everything.
  20. I've got an early 90's Marantz PM42 amp.. The quality on this is awesome. Can drive 2 pairs of speakers at around 80wrms. Has multiple inputs. Its strictly a stereo amplifier (no decoders or receiver), so mainly good for music and the like in conjunction with some high quality speakers (B&W or the like) Still has a fairly modern look, and casing in black. If you know your hifi, marantz makes some of the best gear. That step above your Pioneers, Sony, JVC, etc without getting too silly on price. Can post photos if anybody is interested. Asking $180..
  21. i liked it on my old car during summer sometimes.. although often then it was too damn hot and u needed to close it anyhow.
  22. its the cheap ass retail customers that are the nasties.. expect everything and don't want to pay for it :s Will be interesting to see how umart goes in the next 6-12 months though..
  23. great stuff on the job.. ..no more dealing with customers!!!! (now that was a good feeling)
