predator replied to MFC05's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Is this car even in the country?? This is remarkably one similar to one posted on the auction lists late last year... -
Melbourne? Whats with the EPA and the Police - discuss here
predator replied to Starionturbo's topic in Victoria
just get rid of Bracks.. who cares whether things change.. if the issue is found to be a vote winner to lighten up on the police state. I mean its ridiculous. Like I have been saying, I saw about 20 cops pull people over in the space of 2 weeks, which I would see in about 2 months in QLD. And yet my car is outside my old man's place (in Bayswater.. knox area) for literally 2 hours during broad daylight, and some **** has the gaul to try and break in. I come out onto Mountain Hwy a day or so later (about 200m away from where all this happened) and there is a cop sitting with the radar. If he had been patrolling the streets, rather than sitting on his fat ass with a radar gun for probably hours - trying to show a police presence and reduce crime, this punk probably wouldn't have even got away with it. The priority is too much on revenue - it went way past "safety" many years ago, and yet I would say the place is worse off than even 12 months ago when I left. Why would I ever want to go back to that? Victoria doesn't feel any more "safe" than any of the other states. I just remember all these lines of cars riding their brakes down hills so as to not creep that 3km/hr over.. it was a laugh, and actually quite pathetic from my perspective. -
well he is in QLD, I'm in QLD.. you're in QLD. You'll have to look into that electrical problem, as the wipers, indicators, etc are roadworthy items and will need to be fixed anyhow. child restraints.. just drill them just behind the speaker holes.. They have to be in the center of the seating positions. You will need to rivet them in as well as I believe the standard bolt is not enough for strength. In QLD I believe changing the seat belts in mandatory as one compliancer I spoke to said this is necessary (whether this was to pretend it was hard work to compliance the car i don't know - suspect) .. I am installing ADR ones anyhow. Anyhow, I am on getting mine on the road and registered by the end of this month. As I find out various info, I'll post it in the DIY compliance thread.

geoff: yup, its good to be home! Thats probably what i'm going to do in a few months to be able to carry my bike, car parts, etc properly, etc.. unfortunately R31 wagons are a bit harder to find. Can't even remember where I took the photo! was somewhere between the middle of nowhere and the middle of nowhere else along the newell in country NSW. There was a neato looking plane there... let's play "spot the location" !!

R33 vs R32 caliper difference
predator replied to ni*cK*'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Going price for rb20 calipers is around $250 a pair. R33 maybe $50-100 more. I'd be wary of machining down a disc made for one diameter to another - due to the lattice construction - its not simply just one solid chunk of metal. Wouldn't want them shattering at 150km/hr braking. But it may be possible I guess. -
as far as i know.. all the JDM ones that I have seen that have the pillar, have been non-turbos or the povo-packs. HICAS that slides the whole crossmember?! - that I would like to see. um, frigjam - why do you have 3 import HR31 ???

rb20 manual gearbox part number?
predator replied to predator's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hmm.. thats mostly the internals though - but thanks. Here is a shot, if this helps. It does have a fair bit of ribbing though, like I was saying. As you can tell, its been labelled RB20 box. The guy I bought it off bought it himself as an "rb20 box" off a parts place, so i don't think he was trying to rip me off, he just didn't know himself. Either way I guess $400 for either box is a decent price, so I'm not too peeved. I have read that the proper rb20 has different synchros, and that is the main difference? Its only fairly temporary until i have the funds for an rb25 box, so as long as it doesn't self destruct I'm hoping it should be ok for 6-12months. From another forum - not sure whether its correct.. this is why its confusing.. lots of conflicting info out there. RP17C is the code for the smaller 5speed gearbox from the rb20, and rb30 skylines and im pretty sure vl too its followed by a revision number #1 or #2 the RP17C nor the revision number identify the internals of the gearbox (r32 rb20 box with twin synchro 2nds and slightly different ratios, or r31 rb30 box are all RP17C) -
yeah.. i have an early r31 gx.. and it feels and handles a fair bit lighter than 1380kg. I've driven a few cars, you can feel the difference usually. One day if i can find a weighbridge I'd give a try. Even my spare bloody weighs 20kg! Working on the handling for an r31 would be one I'd love to do as I really think their handling is a little underrated. With a few upgrades I'm sure they would not be far behind many of the imports. Unfortunately just don't have the money to throw at it When the springs go (I think they may have already!) I might go for some whiteline springs. They're cheap, should make a difference. Got a nice shot of my car on the trip back from melb.. looked great that low at the back, wish it was that low all the time.. pity it was only coz of a gearbox in the back and said stuffed springs

oh god.. all you guys are screwed now I can't understand why do you put up with this shit? you should all be riotting in the streets with the treatment Bracks inflicts on you on the roads. Rest of victoria can be ok, but the roads ? **** off! its a joke,..

I'd just like to make an ode to my faithful old r31! which got me down to melb and back without skipping a beat. It's travelled over 4000km in the last 2 weeks, did about 30,000km last year and its got about 335,000km on the clock, and still going strong. Did two 1400km days in its stride no worries in 30+ degree days. It may be a box on wheels, it may not have a whole heap of punch these days, but damn they're reliable thrash boxes! Boy driving around the Police State (Victoria) is painful though!! Driving around there is like getting your scrotem shaved with tweezers! Every second you feel like you're about to get a speeding fine, everybody drives so slow. I think down there I saw in about 2 weeks down there more cops than I've seen in 2 months up here pulling people over. And yet my car still ****ing got broken into for the first time ever after being parked in the street for literally 1 hour! For godsakes, if they ever try to bring in fixed cameras, stealth cameras and whatever else up here fight every tooth and nail, as it will destroy driving up here forever. It's like you may as well fall asleep at the wheel - driving for enjoyment is dead, and driving just becomes a painful chore. And yet Victorian's still manage to kill themselves very nicely (road toll was up down there about 20 on the year before). It doesn't at all do anything to save lives, so why inflict the pain?

r31 - champion car! -
would be nice to race, but guess there is no point at the moment.. I'll probably just spectate. It was worth going to though.. esp. the model show  should make it an SAU event.. with a joint cruise down there and maybe a club area.. idea anyhow.

R33 vs R32 caliper difference
predator replied to ni*cK*'s topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thats because they are R32 calipers with R33 discs... You are right. The R32 ones have those mounts which lock through the pads to the caliper and keep them in place - R33 doesn't have those. Match whatever calipers to whatever discs you are using and you should be right, and I think that applies to R32, R33, even GTR gear. I wouldn't stress, get R32 discs.. there will be not much between them - unless its for the track. The main difference is the larger surface area of a larger disc = better heat dissipation and a bit better stopping power. They are still both 4 pot -
probably because your odometer has been wound back at some point - usually a common sign. I wouldn't worry, most have anyhow. What you'll probably have to do is take the cluster out, open it up, and replace or fix the odometer part which controls both the odometer and trip. Often it can just be a stripped gear.

ouch @ price.. yeah.. 400r bar is nice for intercooler.. not much room back there.. just watch out for high flying ground - it can be painful!

rb20 manual gearbox part number?
predator replied to predator's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
damn.. definitely RP71C .. although it seems to have a fair bit of ribbing along the bellhousing. It also seems to have a GTS-T shifter on it, unless that has been swapped over to make it look authentic? Which ones are the earlier red top ones? Is it possible its off an early RB20? Can somebody post a picture of one outside the car? -
i'll stick my filter in her box, thats forsure.. thats not rude btw
