  1. i mean, brakes and things like that - you have to expect those sort of maintenance issues on a fresh import as its been outside and things, and no doubt siting there, with the jap owner knowing they are going to sell it soon.. Therefore all those maintenance things tend to get left. I am more for the "if its modified its cared for" argument, and anything stress tested will likely have gone bang a long time ago. Unless of course the owner has more money than sense (common I guess as well). Its the person that really doesn't give a shit about the car, and/or has no respect for it that you have to look out for. Sure, my cars get a good workout, but they also get washed, checked out, serviced, etc more regularly than any of my mate's cars.
  2. liksang has put up a pretty neat translation guide to help you get through the menus.. http://image.lik-sang.com/content/gt4/translation.htm Hey Rezz: Have you tried saving a high res shot from the game and saving it to a usb memory stick in 1080i res?? Just want to see if its as spectacular as the earlier promo shots that were put out. Apparently the game runs nicely in 1080 during the races?? That would be incredible to watch..
  3. they're not stock R33 mats.. they are speckled and more plush, and have a silver badge on them from what I remember. more like R32 .. or even earlier.
  4. excess heat can sometimes cause misfiring... but its more likely you've disconnected one of the sensors, or damaged a wire or something during fitting it. Where is the termo fan getting its power from? do you have a regulator in there to speed it up or down at different revs? Check your piping, did u disconnect intercooler piping to install the fan? personally I'd stay away from thermo fans, having heard some bad reports- but they do work for some people.
  5. well to be brutally honest - all skylines look dated After all, even the R34 is not really in the "current" style trends compared to what else is out there these days.. So you have to be happy with an older generation, no matter what your preference. I used to really love the R33, but these days, its only a rare few that excite me when I see them around and they have to have a unique or good kit, rims, colour, or something to make them stand out. Even R33 GTR doesn't do as much as it used to, although of course they're fun to be in R34 look the best, R32 after that. R32 GTR is the smallest, probably most nimble handling.. Even the gts-t has the better sporty feel with the way you sit in the car and things. So wouldn't you want that in a "sports" car?? (although we can argue definitions here).. After all, in over 10 years of skyline GTR, it wasn't as if nissan changed the formula a heck of a lot - 2.6L twin turbos and ATTESSA. Most other cars in that time went through a heck of a lot more changes than the GTR's did mechanically. R33 feel too big and bulky now. The extra room is useful, but in coupe form still a bit limiting. If you want more room buy a cheap family car and save the racer for mostly the track I reckon. Once I've finished with the 32, it'll probably only be an R32 gtr that I go for.. if another skyline at all. s2 r33 does nothing for me at all - its like a "halfbreed" between the original r33 shape and trying to look more like the R34, but not enough.
  6. i c.. well if youre desperate, when i come back u can borrow it for a week.. i'm not going to need it for a little bit
  7. i put mine in the car the other week.. wouldn't take long to take out.. i won't be back for a few days though.
  8. lol.. must be madness when everybody comes back as well.. all those days without access to a computer shop! what have all those poor little goldcoast computer guys been doing with this time? nooo! Will they be camped out? Christmas sale style?
  9. well its actually been pretty nice last couple of days.. I can even see pure bluesky outside. I am a little hungover after last night though there is just too many bars in melbourne to crawl through in one night!
  10. melbourne is that exciting that I'm bored enough to internet..
  11. token mexican! please well I'll be back in a few days.. will be good to back in the good state once again..
  12. *drool* Wonder when the aussie release will be out? Will they hold it to the end of this year?
  13. i'd believe it.. some ****er about 2 days ago tried to break into the R31.. and i've only been in the state a week! stuffed the lock and scratched around the door.. asshole ahh..vic - the police state.. just great except they're all in the wrong areas.
  14. r33 brakes will fit fine as long as you get the r33 discs.. dluded: sounds like u don't have mspec.. the single pots don't have a nissan on it like the others.. best way to see is just to pull the wheel off and have a look. first photo shows the rear of the single pot, as you can see its just one big cylinder there. It also has the bracket (2nd photo), and you will be able to see the actual brake pad if you directly face the disc. Mspec will always have the nissan on them (far as i know). You can see in the 3rd photo i posted, the mspec caliper (painted in this case) just in the very corner of the shot.. its much larger, and has 2 pistons front, two pistons back. brake fun resumes when i get back home ...
  15. mine is only a gts-t but.. mine had a what looked like a fresh scratch down the side that was never in the initial inspection - mostly buffed out.. bonnet had a dent which wasn't really indicated other than "blemish" so needs a new one. Brakes need attention - they wouldn't be safe to drive around with (why fix if owner new they were getting rid of the car? think like a seller when u buy the car). Interior requires fix up on a couple of the trimmings. Suspect there is leak in engine main seal.. as its coming out the bellhousing a bit. Reckon that is why the old owner sold it in japan, gearbox out job = costly for a workshop to fix. All of these are a bit minor to me as I can address them mostly myself, but if you took it somewhere to fix even these things could add up... and I'm a bit lucky as i think mine has had a pretty easy life and would still rate as "good" condition. But it still cost ~$5k less than market value, and is going to cost a lot less than that to fix up what I want. I'm still happy.. but i did buy it to fiddle with Just be wary a bit - For those thinking about it, I wouldn't get one if you want that "perfect" car.. or don't want to put a fair amount of time / money into it. That is what these cars are great for, but if not buy something newer.
  16. keep it civil people - start another thread if you want to argue the merits of R31 vs XX
  17. oh no, so I'm going to be hungover all of this year? crap.. actually been there, done that back in my uni days I am not even really sure what this year will hold.. Don't have any firm plans. Maybe start saving for a house or something boring like that. Carwise, something along the lines of convert r32 to manual (the gearbox I bought here is going in the boot for the trip back).. drop in rb25, start building up the power in that - you know, simple stuff Thinking of flogging off the R31 and getting a wagon for the other car.. hopefully another skyline of course, lol.

  19. Happy new years guys! I'm just in melb at the moment (boy this place sucks! ) There has been a bit of negative stuff around lately, so I thought I'd try and spin something positive on here So what are people's plans for this year? Who plans on going overseas? Big plans for any of your cars? Anybody getting married? popping out some kids? Hopefully this year we can put some of the crap with the politics away and start some constructive building of SAU Queensland! I want to see a large calender of events this year guys and gals hmm.. now I have access to a printer down here, I should print out my membership form now shouldn't I...
