  10. yes.. like joel said its definitely not normal. Especially not in that period of time. R33's (and maybe R32 also?) tend to have the annoying habbit of "everything is fine, everything is fine, everything is fine, oh shit, its overheating like buggery!".. when the gauge suddenly shoots up. When it gets anywhere above halfway there is most likely some problem with your cooling system, as that gauge not very accurate. First of all I'd flush out your radiator and engine, and see whether any crap comes out, then replace it with coolant (bleeding system as per above to prevent air bubbles). Also check radiator cap - stuffed or incorrectly seated can cause heat problems, and its actually quite important to keep the pressure of the whole system constant. Failing that take it to a specialist to get the water pump looked at and/or anything else they might be able to determine is causing the problem.
  11. ahhh.. democracy at its finest! Oh well, its good that the reigns have been passed onto some new folk.. Should see things improve. Right in time for summer festivus skylinius too

  13. new car is black.. yeah, chris didn't sound too well this morning... Didn't think he would make it. I yes and no about shitboxes.. they're never anything classy, but parts are cheap, and my last 4 shitboxes have only broken down on me twice.. once for a dead starter motor, and once for a dead cas.. but I do try to choose my cheap crap carefully And if one can do 15 laps of QR without dying they can't be that unreliable
  14. lol.. well if all goes well I will probably take some pix tomorrow, post them up. It's not going to be complied (going to do that mostly myself I decided) for a while, so not going to go anywhere much further than the driveway unfortunately

  20. Visitors, temporary residents, foreign diplomatic personnel, companies and corporations are not eligible to import a vehicle under the personal import scheme. This scheme allows a vehicle to be imported as a personal import without proof that it meets the ADRs, but the vehicle is expected to provide a level of safety similar to Australian vehicles. To be eligible for a personal import the following criteria must be satisfied: the vehicle has been owned and used by the applicant for a continuous period of at least 12 months (3 months where ownership and use of the vehicle commenced before 8 May 2000); at the time the vehicle is imported, the applicant is: an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident; or a person who has applied to become an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident; the applicant is of an age that entitles him or her to hold a licence or a permit to drive a road vehicle of that type; the applicant undertakes to comply with any requirements as to road safety that are imposed in respect of the vehicle by the Administrator; and the applicant has not imported a road vehicle owned by him/her within the year ending on the day on which the vehicle in respect of which the application is made is landed in Australia. Well I guess if you had a mate who was still an Australian citizen overseas you might be able to ship one over per year. Or I guess you could "apply" to become an australian citizen, and then never go through with it...
  21. well i'm ineligible to vote..if anything gets fixed i'll join.. i wait with baited breath.
  22. weird but. yeah, its no less tragic..
  23. if that woman died in that crash was pregnant.. she was only 15!! makes u wonder..
  24. I already said I'd buy it if the other guys aren't going to put their money where their mouth is.. send me your account details and I'll transfer in straight away
  25. no doubt the reason why they might ban personal imports... idiots abusing the system. Anyhow, even if your little friend comes on a little "holiday" unless they are or becoming a resident I don't see how its possible. Its shifty, even if it can be done, and that all there is to it.
