  1. I'm not so sure about photopost myself, but I think people are gradually getting used to it. It has ups and downs like the old system... The look and layout previous definitely sucked, and I thought that could be improved. I agree with the trader rating thing.. You will see it next to the person as a star. But as you say skyrine, nobody bothers to update it - so it is a little pointless and frustrating.. as I though that was one of the main reasons for moving towards the new section. Hopefully if people start to use it, just PM them and request the feedback. Eventually it will catch on and like ebay, those that don't have a trader rating you'd give less trust than somebody with a much higher rating. p.s. I have noticed my new theme doesn't work greatly with the other forum themes other than "vivid blue" and you get things like black text on the dark blue which is hard to read . I actually use the XP Luna Silver often as its a little easier on the eyes in the white, but the classifides template needs a few things changed in the style sheets to make it look a bit better under different themes. Will see what I can do.
  2. strutbraces make a big difference to cornering and being able to throw the car around a bit better.. its one of the first things going on my next car when it gets on the road.
  3. depends what u want.. if you are getting a cheap car, you have to expect to have to do some work on it. I don't mind working on a car to fix little problems, I just see it as a challenge and part of the fun If something is perfect it can only go down hill, whereas if something needs a little TLC you can only be happy with every little thing you do to it. My thoughts anyhow!
  4. Its all up and running after a bit of fiddling around.. looking a lot better on the display page. There are a still a few things I want to try and put in there to tidy things up - but for the most its a big step forward I think!
  5. They would be silly to close at that time with the amount of 15 year cars coming in at the moment. They'd only be doing themselves out of heavy business. There would be thousands sitting over there in Japan, and that have recently landed.
  6. Anybody know of anywhere good on the goldcoast to get a car complied? Preferably somewhere where somebody has had their car complied in the last 12 months and has some first hand experience. Mine shall be here in a couple of weeks.. just wondering whether there were any places down here that came recommended at a good price, with as little dodginess as possible. Might be nice to get it done somewhere locally. Then again I might just get it all done up in Brisbane, then I just can go up there and pick it up. p.s. my car is in the yellow dot right now
  7. I am going to the track in a couple of weeks and really need some brake fluid of high quality that can handle the rigours of the track. Unfortunately, my next car will not be ready in time , so its going to have to be the r31 this time. I am going to go to a brakes place and get them to fully flush the system before getting them to put some good fluid in there. Whilst obviously not setup that greatly, I just want to get out there - it gets a big flogging on the street in 30+ days and seems to hold up, so the rest of the car I think should be ok out there for a few laps, stop, few laps, stop, etc. I'm not going to be going all out, and don't think this car quite has the power to hit 180km/hr+ going into tight turns where braking would be crucial I have done a bit of a search for this topic, but not too many specifics of what is some good Brake fluid I can use. My main questions: 1. Is "anything" that has a DOT 4 or 5.1 rating going to be good? or should I get specific on a particular brand or type that will excel above the others? 2. Any recommendations ? 3. Approximate price on this? My fluid at the moment is nearly black, and has got noticeably more spongey and ineffective over the last months. Pads were changed fairly recently, and did give a good amount of bite before the fluid really started losing pressure.
  8. I could buy an italian lounge suite for $3000...
  9. this kid is mines_datsun, serious_seven, redfc, d1_monke and about 10 different alias' .... don't know how many times he has been banned but the little c/nt keeps coming back. although they are sometimes funny to read, and the amount of abuse he causes either to himself or others
  10. nice trim in there.. almost show trim to start with.. just needs a redo and bling! The Laurels looks almost like a JZX90 chaser from some angles I reckon. Not a bad idea importing as many as possible before the end of the 15 year rule... If I only had more capital I'd be doing exactly the same There are a few Cefiro's I see in QLD now.. and a really nice pimped up purple one right near my place..
  11. Playing with the sharpness controls can alter when boost comes on. I wouldn't recommend 100% - After countless adjustment on the road I found that around 1/4 produced some of the best results for my old r33. Every car would vary though. Start at 50% and work up or down from there. You really need to see when boost rises nicely and best holds at xx psi when you are on full tap. Alternatively if it comes on too quickly it will simply spike, and drop off at high RPM. I could see it exhibiting this on the boost gauge. Once you find the perfect medium its a great EBC, but I think a lot don't bother playing with this control properly.. which is very important to get the best adjust. Really need to set it on the dyno - as its pretty dangerous to set on the street and you can only really notice these things under flatout acceleration. I would also note that quite a few places I took it to had absolutely no idea what it was even for :-s
  12. I am out.. can't be bottomed.. But its good that thursday nights are being resurrected! anyhow my other car will be here in a few weeks so I am saving a bit for that, then the true fun begins!
  13. beau: you will have best luck on trading post, and carsales for getting people to look at your car. I had luck with both. I don't think i had one genuine enquiry on here when I went to sell the R33. Most here come to simply to look at the pictures in the trading section, and are not genuine buyers.
  14. As i understand it the thrust bearing is responsible for pressing the pressure plate onto the clutch (although i could be wrong - go check www.howthingswork.com), which engages it.. if you have a pissy thrust bearing (not enough spring) which is too small for a heavy clutch I'd say that would cause the clutch to not engage it properly.. resulting in noise. How does it "feel" ? like its just in neutral all the time, like its nearly going in or what? all gears? The thrust bearing in my old car started to go, as whoever did the clutch i think never changed it properly, resulting in a bit of noise (not as bad as that WAV though) and sometimes a bit of "flop" in the clutch. It felt it was grinding when I was letting out the clutch sometimes. Could have been clutch plate worn, but it didn't quite sound like that as it always used to bite fairly well.
  15. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=42209 Mercury motorsports is also a sponsor of this section - www.mercurymotorsport.com.au and also there is another one on the goldcoast - that should be posted up here in "our official sponsors and how to join SAU" thread .. as I have no idea what it is!
  16. pointless though - they must have the brains to realise that anything interesting is not discussed in the public section of a forum such as this? They must get bored of not finding anything of note.. and reading drivel such as this.. lol.
  17. Why was she fined at the scene? On a mobile phone by any chance? If she was doing anything illegal, odds are heavily stacked on your side. Hopefully it works out for you, friggin small cars are all accidents waiting to happen with the way most people drive them if you ask me
  18. points are valid.. newer engine true, differences, true.. how about a NEO engine off forced induction? Then by all rights you'd have to have an RB20DET, then RB26dett forum.. to cover these engines specifically. I can see this being useful, as a number of cars share these engines, therefore much of the info is more relevent by engine, rather than by car. The only problem with this is its furthering the "too many sections" problem... anyhow, something to think about for the powers that be I guess.
  19. I hardly think them reading it in here is going to be any different to them doing a bit of research and simply asking your local transport department - which they do anyhow in case of a claim I am sure anyhow.
  20. The location at the moment (if added) is really hard to find in the "view product" page as well due to the bad layout, its very easy to miss. I am working on a new look for that page, which should make all the important details stand out a lot more prominently.
  21. so then we need an r32, r33, r34, r31 forum, then possibly a "sedan" forum for each of these, and then maybe "skylines with nice rims" and then we need "r33 with RB25de engines" thread, and then an "r33 GTS4" thread?? come on, gets a bit of control doesn't it? I am sure the guys have thought of splitting it into specific models in the past, but I think its fine the way it is..
  22. Maybe they should should mail you the defect with it at the same time ? Wonder how long it will be before it gets to that point - "your car has been witnessed doing illegal activities, here is your $200 fine, and cancellation of your registration. Have a nice day"
  23. would look shit with a white stripe.. but Gold volks would be nice Everybody is an expert
  24. about 20 speeding fines.. nothing else. I think I'll still be getting done for speeding when I'm 60. Oh well... no at fault accidents.. go figure.
  25. damn tumble driers!
