  1. the r33? sold that about 4 months ago...the suspension setup was never really that great and a few others things on it needed changing, and was getting bored with it anyhow. Want a cheaper chasis to setup everything exactly how I want it - fresh start!
  2. Well good news for me I guess is that I just found out that my car is currently on a Kiwicar ship over here.. Its been a wait of about 2 months since it was eligible to when it was shipped, but should be here in about 2-3 weeks I guess. On road 2-3 weeks after that hopefully. I like the little dot on the map they have to show where the ship is exactly
  3. great car.. beau has had a lot of work put into that car in such a short time from basically stock, with great results! makes some nice noise too I think the yellow draws attention - and works with the blue. ITs definitely an original theme. Pity you want to sell it mate
  4. weren't you banned mr datsun? if you crash it into a wall PLEASE PLEASE can i have the video somebody? that is all
  5. i got coils.. (a different set this time . Will have to take them off the motor though, but that is ok.. if you need to test.
  6. I'm in.. roads are for cars.. not pedestrians.. if pedestrians walk on the road, then what do they think is going to happen? Its just evolution! the stupid animals that walk onto roads, or walk into big fally holes, or walk into a big lions den get eaten first and don't live to produce stupid offspring. Happened for millions of years. Its only natural We're denying the future intelligence of our race I tells'ya!
  7. yeah, this is basically the procedure I went through, and what the customs agent told me a few weeks ago. I drafted the letter, and send it to the customs agent, who were then going to forward it onto the DEH to get exemption. Haven't heard anything back regarding this, but will see at the time of picking up the car whether it has saved me any money or not. May as well post it here, I think this all you really need: To Whom it may concern, I, xxx , certify that the vehicle I am importing, chassis number: HCR32-xxxx is purely for private use, and is a one off personal import. Therefore I wish to apply for an exemption to the air conditioning re-gassing requirements if available
  8. you're over estimating the stock ECU.. those things you are noticing are probably more likely to be results of temperature changes, air humidity, and whatever else in the outside air. And also after driving the car for a while it will idle much more smoothly, etc simply because it has warmed up properly. Doing short start-stop trips doesn't allow the car to do that.
  9. hey beau - you could buy this one and then we could have twins! http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/?/au/...sp?StockID=2694
  10. this car isn't getting built for drift - its getting built for track baby!!
  11. hey mate.. good news for me.. my car is *finally* getting loaded onto a ship, and should be here in about 3 weeks, and on the road about 2 weeks after that
  12. Nominates self for testing
  13. From today's courier mail.. great stuff isn't it?? Apparently the Ford is now close to a "supercar" http://www.couriermail.news.com.au/common/...255E952,00.html Speedo that only displays up to 130km/hr ? now that would be funny!
  14. Whilst pack n' send is indeed a rip, there isn't too many other options.. dnb organised to get my head delivered using Toll Ipsec, however they didn't secure it too well (and there wasn't too many options in terms of packing something like that ) and it was damaged slightly. They must have been flying around corners or something the whole way.. The price was about 1/2 of Pack 'n Rip however...
  15. rb25det loom, and stock ecu... got it with the engine. Just to get it working and for the first month or so.. then powerFC when I wind up the power... For the dash use the standard speedo sender mod (electronic bottom, mechanical top). Auto-electrician can sort out the rest or will see how I can go. I know a bit about wiring and electronics which might be enough - there are fragments of this and that around on here and elsewhere. For anciliaries such as aircon, power steering, and starter going to be trying to use these items off the rb20det. Aircon could prove problematic but we'll see.
  16. Thats because all the old forsale forums are now locked.. The people involved will have to post them in the new "sau classifides" section. It was talked about for ages, now when it happens everybody is confused. Funny.
  17. Really depends how you want to go.. to save hassles I think you're best off using the rb25 loom and say a PowerFC or stock r33 ecu. Otherwise all I can see is unforseen extras and work arounds by trying to use the rb20det ecu/loom. Seeing as you're getting a half-cut, you're already going to get those bits you need, why stuff around with it? As I picked up an RB25det complete for $1600, my original plan for RB30DET went out, even though I had most things ready. ~$5k+ vs $1600... hmm.. and later on I have the rb30 bottom end ready to be rebuilt when the time is right. It made no financial sense to go straight to rb30det. What do you want? a true monster in a fully rebuilt rb30det (don't forget you're going to need the matching $ turbo to do that).. or an rb25det that still has torque advantages, still is a great motor, and probably still good for 250rwkw. You will probably have the cash left over for a nice turbo / injectors / PFC on that as well, whereas after the rb30 build, you still have to factor in all the extra things. I had an R33 for nearly 2 years, the engine was great - unbeatable.. it was just the rest of the car I was bored and a little frustrated with. Engineering an RB25DET shouldn't be so difficult, as long as you maintain exactly the same engine, and this will mean the same stock ECU and most other things. As there is no such thing from factory as "RB30DET" its going to be much harder. With the tailshaft, really what you're going to have to do is take your existing rb20 one, and from what I read an RB25 one (different input splines?), work out how long it has to be once its in the car, and go from there. That's what I'll be doing. When I do the conversion into mine I will post full pics and step by step instructions as I learn along the way. Guess I will be testing this then
  18. I'm using the Firebird.. its working fine for me??
  19. "free drag race with every McHappy meal" If that is the case, unfortunately the two go hand in hand, soon as u build a strip remotely near anywhere, in 10 years all the houses close in, people bitch and whinge who are now "locals" and that simply becomes "prime land" for some developer worth millions and millions. Anybody who has half a brain is going to sell up at some point.. just look at what happened to Waverley Park... So you either have strips miles from anywhere (heathcote) or you have them somewhere near the city and they get closed.
  20. people are lazy, people are tightasses, and the majority of import car owners these days can barely afford $50 petrol a week because they are still living at home.. and can barely afford the car working at whatever shit-kicker job they are doing - so their only excitment in life comes from doing things illegal to get away from mum and dad. Things will never change
  21. get on the group buy for a cheap walbro.. $170 shipped.. BATML should be able to sort a front pipe for you and highflow cat.. thats a couple of things sorted.. probably EBC may be overkill if on tight budget, but might result in nicer boost delivery. Hybrid copy cooler, or GTR cooler should do the trick there. rb20det injectors start maxing out top of 200rwkw (remember they are not same rate as R33) I don't think you'll get 200rwkw with an rb25 turbo, no matter what the other mods.. then again you could shop for a dyno that reads high Don't forget the clutch.. also remember a small thing called braking and handling.. just as important as the power unless all you want to do is drag race..
  22. I got a decent digital camera too beau.. as many as you want. Let me know a day and can make it so
  23. Australia has very poor driver training, and I think that is one of reasons for some of this heavyhandedness by the law. The government simply believes in punishing people for doing wrong, rather than better driver training and the like. They have also realised that there is a massive amount of money to be made from fining people for breaking the laws, which in many people's eyes is not improving the driving skills. Lots of terrible drivers!
  24. lot of people get desperate to sell a car.. because they lose their job, go into massive debt, through modifications they can't afford, they have to move out of home, or whatever else.. so they are the ones you can sometimes find at $15k, but that isn't really a realistic price going in hoping to find too many good examples for around that price, or get fussy about colours, rims, etc. My R33 I sold for $20k clear and that had the bees-knees done to it in terms of most things you can think of except upgrading to the full "stage2" mod level (engine, turbo upgrades).. so you can probably find something for a bit less with a few less mods..
  25. great day, and nice well planned route. Much thanks to Marc for a great cruise! buffy good.. cars pretty!
