  1. yeah.. I'm going to buy a v8 soarer in a few months and keep the R32 for the fun stuff.. so would be interested to see how it goes
  2. why no forced induction over its life?
  3. I'd say the price of V35 coupes would have to drop in Japan quite nicely in the next 1-2 years.. as the V36 coupe will be a much more attractive option, and Japanese do like their new things. So I'd say there must be a lot over there looking to 'trade up' to the V36, just as we here trade up the latest model commodore, falcon, etc. R34 gtr's have held their value as there isn't anything that has replaced it at that top level (yet). Soon as the new GTR comes out, you'd imagine many well-to-japanese would be looking to sell their old R34 and buy one.
  4. u can get cheap hoists and shit on ebay.. might kill you though.. everybody buy cheap ebay hoists!!
  5. remove the cluster.. remove the 2x bolts down near the steering shaft.. pull spring mechanism forward, slide it out of the plastic behind the dash.. pull the cable through the hole and out.. replace in reverse. I'd superglue the plastic tip back onto the end of the cable just for security. Seems to have worked in my case.
  6. looks like some people still using this.. reuploaded the pix into first post- later on I might re-arrange them into order..
  7. would be interested in one for r32 gtst
  8. beryl - www.beryl-project.org It's a bit of a muckaround, but once you've got it working it's pretty cool. I'm running Kubuntu at the moment rather than ubuntu - as I like KDE a bit better.
  9. seriously.. you must be getting old yourself.. "explain that to the families who fall off a ladder each year"..lets ban ladders eh?, or "explain that to somebody who chokes on a plastic bag"... lets ban plastic bags? Actually, electricity is pretty dangerous.. better restrict the shit out of that as well You sound as bad as a damn politician and their "every life can be saved" rubbish propaganda. Yes, ideally nobody would ever die in an accident.. but it will always happen. People have to be accountable FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS AND DECISIONS, not dictated endlessly by the government restricting their actions in the small hope that it *might* make a difference. Enough has been done, time to focus on other more important issues in the community that effect a lot more people than road accidents. It is a fact of life that accidents happen - and now there is no use punishing every single person because of this fact. May as well ban cars altogether and make everybody walk. Safest option yet! hundreds of lives saved! what a crock..
  10. what 1-2 people = 12% ? last I read (about 3 days ago) it was neck and neck in VIC.. prolly that 2 extra people that died pushed it back up a whole "12%" the stats can say anything they need to. It's all a farce
  11. I tried it for a little bit.. now I'm back on a small XP partition and Ubuntu on the rest.. I didn't like the speed. You can always run Beryl on X.. it even gives more 3D eye-candy than vista, with half the system requirements.
  12. www.infochoice.com.au has a great range of calculators too I have thought of this myself.. but just my thoughts (which could be well wrong).. a) melbourne as an example of this gone wrong - there is a massive oversupply of apartments in the Docklands precinct..all fueled by a little too much eagerness maybe over the property boom.. Many bought off the plan, and by the time the place was built it was worth 30% less than they'd bought in at. I can see the Goldcoast becoming quite similar to that, but it is obviously has different variables due to being a holiday destination. They keep building 'em - but who wants to live in them? Do you? no b) Will they really be occupied 'all year'? you'll have a flux of people coming and going.. and also somebody has to manage that and the costs of managing that. No locals on the goldcoast (i.e. resident) would live dead in surfers unless they were insane or had a lot of money to afford something well in access of 200k. So you've only got temporaries and holiday makers. Maybe that is enough, who knows. c) Houses always will return better than units.. but obviously are a lot more expensive to get into. Units are also more susceptible to market fluctuations than houses (note guy above selling units first) d) With a massive aging population, and many moving up here to retire - can you imagine an oldie living in Surfers highrise apartment? not on your life.. so think further out, where I'd imagine retirement living could prove profitable as an investment. You have to remember if it's a shoe-box, would you want to live in there? Now you have to ask whether anybody else would either.
  13. That's one of the things.. people look at the last 5 years, see people that got rich quickly and think and think the property market is always 'guaranteed winner' for quick money. It's not always, and goes in cycles. And like somebody said, you've still got to have quality of life, even if you do decide to buy. If you buy a place, can't afford furniture, can't afford nice furniture, can't afford a reasonable car (if that's your thing), can't afford holidays, etc - then you really have to ask whether it's all worth it. You definitely don't want to go in a spiraling debt cycle (e.g. having to borrow for other things because you don't have enough spare cash) into the hope that "one day" you'll be rich out of the whole thing. You might not even have that much time in life left.. my mum died recently at age 62, several years before the "retirement" age.
  14. sender has no penis? ...I'm calling ACA
  15. good guide .. Question: Will the aircon also blow fuses when there is no gas in there?
  16. I told you I'm not going to smuggle no "units" into indonesia again in my bodyboard bag you fewl
  17. Well its 'around 12v' when it's started.. it was probably 14v off the alternator, can't exactly remember. I put new terminals on it a few months back, so the terminals should be in good nick. I actually took it to battery world a couple of months ago (which is where I got it from).. their response was "it's not the battery, it must be something else". I think they were just trying to dodge their you-beut 3 year warranty I think because it just has an alarm and a few things, if I leave it for a week or so it goes dead, and it was just a cheapy Century one for around $100. Only 12 months old Thanks for your help guys.. Think.. none of this cheap ass stuff this time. Think it's time to lash out $300 for a proper Optima or the like. It doesn't get driven that often so needs something that is up to the task. If there still is troubles I'll investigate a few other things.
  18. I can bend steel bars with my bare hands?
  19. does this mean the battery is dead? only thing that has been a bit confused is it jumps back to 12v when its sitting idle (not started) when it's running via a push start, i get about 12v across the alt, and 12v at the battery.. so I'm thinking the alternator is still ok? I'd check the Current but I blew the fuse on my multimeter a while back
  20. no.. I've owned a few of each of the engines at least, and there is very little difference.
  21. happens.. when I first got my license (10+ years ago).. I always used to see how fast my piece of crap car would go... I don't think it's that unusual as a part of growing up. these guys just did it while drunk, which simply lowers your inhibitions to do these stupid things, and possibly show off to your mates. There is a lot of attention on it these days, but it has always happened since cars, licenses, and booze were invented. lol.. but many of us *do* have a bit of intelligence - that doesn't necessarily mean we haven't done stupid shit in a car either..
  22. You got a point.. but even if you are in a de-facto (e.g. just a g/f) in 2 years they are in many cases entitled to 1/2 of everything you own anyhow.. how screwed is that? With 1/3 marriages or whatever ending, you've got a 1 in 3 chance of losing 50% of your home anyhow ..
  23. invest for 2 years, then buy.. housing not worth it in present climate
