um, in the process of leaving Japan the car has to be deregistered... which means the plates have to be removed. Ever thought of that brainiac ?

thats no good man don't get too down.. least you're all ok. I never let my mates drive my car unless they own an equal or better car than me for obvious reasons.

trust intercooler - update

well this is one reason why allowing further posts in threads *is* sometimes warranted, so that things like this can be prevented. But I agree 95% of the time they are to shit stir or pointless (guilty!) You always get what you pay for. Funny how many things are meant to come from the "same factory" when they are a copy As long as you didn't pay too much (i hope!) you should be able to get reasonable money for it. May even work ok as a cooler you never know. -
ha.. you got sucked in by the "other airport black hole for tourists" - just because its in Victoria doesn't mean its anywhere near the city or civilization as we know it. Its like boganville except a bit worse.. its so funny because its true.. haha You are better off walking too, as you'll get a speeding fine soon as you even get into a car - its a new "Get in your car Tax" Bracks is introducing, in conjunction with the "new -20km/hr speeding tollerance" for any given speed sign.. Its great stuff - but can be tricky to work out

Thinking of buyin a r32 gtst or r33 gtst
predator replied to Darren83's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
er nice try.. but i think after about 6 months he may have just found something by now (if he was even serious in the first place) -
r32.. interested if its around $100.. too much more and I could get a custom one made at any exhaust shop probably.

Well the sponge on it (s1 gts-t) was paper thin, but seemed to stick pretty much to the door card itself rather than the material. Putting it back, I would be getting some new foam, and cut it to the same shape, and wrap the material over it - that nice inset around the outside helps.. but I didn't get that far. Was just curious how it all was put together. I'm going to give retrimming parts of my next car a try when it gets here though.

hey mate, i heard what happened to your old car Yeah, i'm importing another myself. 1) the aircon thing has to be in japan - but if you are importing just 1 car for personal use its fine now with changed rules. 2) see above 3) I put mine in September 1st for september car, and still waiting. My credit card has been charged the $50 for the approval on Friday or so. Apparently this is a sign it has been processed and will be on its way very shortly. Each day i keep checking the letter box all bright eyed, but it hasn't came It should be on a boat in a week or two - the idea is that the paperwork and the car cross over.. so hopefully this works out. good luck with it hope it works out well for you. Seems to be going ok for me at the moment.

Which Motor Upgrade/Transplant in an R32??
predator replied to silva33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
...or for maybe $500 more a highflow rb25 turbo and get much closer to 250rwkw but then you'd need other upgrades I guess. silva33: really it depends what he / you / imaginary friend wants out of the car.. Is the car going to be daily driven? does he want insurance? Is fuel economy a concern? does he want to go to track, drift or drag days? would the car sit there for 6 months if the engine blew up? does he want to be a dyno queen or drive the power? does he want to handle nicely and stop? if he swapped the engine would he have any money left to upgrade or fix that if that went wrong? does he want it to look pretty? can he drive? what colour are his eyes? etc, etc! -
Which Motor Upgrade/Transplant in an R32??

BATML dump pipe: $250.. Toshi ECU remap: $200 (or $300 2nd hand SAFC).. Hybrid copy Intercooler: $400.. "wados" piping setup: $300..Walbro or bosch 910 fuel pump: $200.. Whiteline springs: $300, 2nd hand EBC: $300, some dyno time: $300, rb25 turbo: $400, rb74 pads front: $200, RE55 semi-slicks rear: $800.. 2nd hand catback: $500.. 2nd hand front strut bar: $150.. fitting: free. Well it won't get you 250rwkw but hey... thrashing an rb20det till she blows = priceless. -
good stuff.. congratulations guy, girl, and baby Now you're going to have to drive safely and things wazz

or Krzysiu I'm banning my kids from having anything faster than 50kw until they're off their p's..

Hard? I found it extremely easily.. you just do it gradually, start with a screwdriver in there. and just slowly peel. You can't tear anything as the felt is quite strong. Comes off in one piece - I did it on a 'spare' r33 trim - got it off and its all rolled up and its perfet. As for refitting new trim.. I'll have to leave part for my next car . Can't be that hard. You can buy some new thin sponge padding and cut to shape - then apply the new trim over the top. Contact glue generally allows some freedom to move things around till it goes tacky - I carpetted my old sub quite easily.

If it was a GTS-T i would say impossible .. and i've never heard of it happening to anybody who has destroyed their turbo on an rb25 or rb20 engine . GTR is different kettle of fish, but again I am a little unsure of exactly how its possible in practice..

guys - look into the full costs, and use the cost calculator, work out what a new set of tyres, rego, and stamp duty will cost ($1000-$2000). Compliance on R33's has become quite cheap because they are common us muck... but is still around the $3000 mark. Their fee isn't listed on there in there "landed" price either, so you gotta whack $1200 ontop. So realistically, add about $5-6k on whatever price they have on there for any vehicle. And no you can't just "avoid" any of these extra charges in any way to get your car on the road. I'm not saying they are not reasonable prices, but never go thinking you can get an R33 turbo for like $12k - you're only going to be disappointed. This is nothing against this company's service, just that research everything fully before getting too excited.

there used to be various regs about hills and things but i believe Bracks changed them a while ago (surprise surprise) to make more money. Don't think you have much chance.

plastic fantastic.. woo
-
The light won't come on while in use - its just a warning light if its *not* working (although the bulb can be removed).. I think its above 70km/hr anyhow. Locked diff and HICAS ? lol - interesting concept..
-
very nice there.. should definitely get some great times with that.. I hear Ben is one of the best in VIC..

s13 is another good option like ptr is saying.. have seen a few damaged ones for around $3000.. or a non-turbo non-bent one for around $5000 could be a base to work from?

Part Availability R32 4 Door?? Opinions please
predator replied to benl1981's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yup.. this is the correct area.. people just don't seem to take the time to bother posting anymore to try and help some people out That and not many have R32 4 doors :-s -
most of those cars you listed i don't think it will fit(??), hence why its not done.. most would use an SR20 or CA18 in those sorts of conversions as they're smaller and lighter engines that can give similar power levels. So if you really want to do those cars i'd probably be ditching the rb25 idea. seriously though r31.. $500 u can get a shell, its RWD.. taking everything out you can probably get it down to 1200kg (base model GX only weighed 1300kg or so). Panels and things probably cheaper and easier to come by than any of those you list. U can adapt the front hubs to run r32/r33/GTR brakes/etc.. LSD's and minispools are available. Latter model gearboxes and engines fit with a few modifications.. do it...

some of those may be related to cold start cycle though, which may harm fuel economy. one of the main causes of bad fuel economy is generally a ****ed O2 sensor, but it wouldn't suprise me if 56, 57, and 104 also are used by the ECU to regulate things.
