  1. its only a stupid dyno comp.. make another attempt at 9's -> will make you feel better
  2. There are a lot of import parts specialists out there that are obviously making a good amount off some of the parts, buy a container of stuff for a few $k, sell them for many times more.. but they have to make money after all. Sometimes its a joke what they ask , sometimes you have to shop around and can get it for 1/2 the price. In my old R33 I was fairly lucky most of the time - got a front guard for like $125.. door trim $75, door for $300 when i needed them. That is as cheap as you'd get them for a VR commodore probably. Of course the R33 is the most popular import you see on the road (soarer maybe 2nd??) so parts for them can be a little easier. Just speaking from R33 perspective, you can get headlights for like $300 or so each (probably what it would cost for any 1994 part for like a Honda, etc), and most things are a couple of hundred at most. Nissan can get most parts and have the parts number database to tell you various useful things , but they tend to get most of their stuff from overseas at big $$ and large waits from whenever i have tried. They do stock some parts on shelf, but really depends whether they are the same parts as some of the locally sold models (some stuff is shared). Engine parts are easy as their is a lot of RB engines out there (especially RB20det) in a number of different imports, and also a fair bit of knowledge these days. Well that is probably all I know There are plenty of R32 owners out there that can probably be more useful, as i am just speaking in general terms here.
  3. They are just standard prices.. you can get cheap R33 GTR for around $30k.. have been for 12 months. Quality debateable.. but my mates R33 has had no problems and is very clean and purchased for $32k.
  4. If I have my new car correctly setup by then.. will be interested. But will have to let you know, as its too early at this stage. Will you need to be a CAMS licence holder?
  5. Until the flood of 15 year vehicles, these were actually fairly rare. Might be hard to find replacement doors and the like compared to the coupes which are maybe 90-95% of the R32 out there. Front end is basically going to be the same, but the rear could prove more difficult - but then again, there are a heap of import specialist wreckers out there who could probably source them for you. Just would take time.
  6. hello days of our lives...

hey tharaka.. good to see - keep up the interest in cars, and whatever else you are keen on, will help to take your mind off the bad. Takes a man to be up front up about things like that too. Good stuff!
  8. Just noticed in my bank account 16/09/2004 DEPT OF TRANSPORT CANBERRA $50.00 DR Guess this means the approval should arrive next couple of days.. car should be going on the boat right about now - all good!
  9. I think he was just trying to sell you a PowerFC - unless of course there is a specifcally reprogrammed "auto" version around?
  10. about 1/2 who have run into me (i think about 5 over the years) have had the same excuse, no insurance, and "can't afford it". Generally though you can get the money off them - even if they have to pay it off over the next 50 years of their life. Don't feel sorry for a dickhead who doesn't know how to use a handbrake..
  11. if its s14 you want, you should just be able to get them direct from nissan.. although the price may hurt.
  12. tyres can make the largest difference.. should be able to get a decent 12 I'd say, with good semi-slicks. car looks great btw..
  13. pentae has a point.. to be honest, just flog the bits that can be removed, and off to the squish place for the shell.
  14. um, but thats a lancer and a BMW as well? anyhow - aren't skylines used as taxi's anyhow in japan (or were) ?
  15. trucks are dip shits.. a few years back one basically decides he was going to use 2 lanes to turn right when i was next to him Hope it works out ok for you. Usually they try and deny everything - they're assholes.
  16. Haven't quite got to the front yet, but converted the ass of my car to S3 today.. turned out pretty well. Not bad for about $200.. Here are the b4 and after shots.
  17. Call me cynical, but in many cases I don't think they even check too closely.. when i bought a car recently I wrote down the engine number on the reg papers - response: "this is not the engine number on file" .. me: "guess it must have had the engine changed then", them: "err, ok, probably, what is the new engine number?", me gives new engine number (not checked.. might have even got away with rb26xxxxxxxxx), and away we go... good 'ol QLD..
  18. haha, just think they can easily be confused with the aussie cars even though they are quite different throughout.. the "non-educated" motoring population wouldn't know the difference between an imported HR31, and local R31 to be honest. Anyhow, just stirring really
  19. are there any really hyper WRX in japan? with the big HP you are talking about evo_lee ? I don't see any "show" cars from any of the big workshops like you are saying. Are there many 10second WRX or things like that?
  20. looks like its never been driven.. just the lack of paint flaking off the usual bits in the engine bay is very rare. If you were a GTR purist, I am sure that amount wouldn't be too much.
  21. Yeah, they can look really nice done up and a certain toughness that is lacking in the latter models - and the coupe is a different beast to the aussie sedan that is for sure. Love to have one, one day as maybe a 2nd car.. but at the moment I'll have to settle for a black r32 and my rather worn aussie R31..
  22. I don't think its just as easy as swapping it over.. a'la Silvia stylez. Anything can be made to fit anything if you have enough money to throw at it. I think such a job would involve some modifications of all panels, etc and maybe even some chasis modifications.
  23. All interesting comments. So its just my perception that is a little whack then I do notice there are quite a few less specific aftermarket parts available in some of the magazines, websites, etc I see here in Australia compared with the nissan and toyotas - but they are available. With respect to the "feel like they are gods" - guess that can be true from what I sometimes see, and driving a rex does feel like a bit of a no brainer as it is pretty much point and shoot. For the short drive I had in one I felt like I could really hammer it into the corners, brake late, and shoot out. Could imagine it would be easy to get carried away Here in QLD WRX aren't actually too common, but where I came from (melbourne) they were dime a dozen. Could be something due to the crappier wheather in VIC and people think they need a WRX to get by - but no idea.
  24. Its more like just a family car personally though i don't see the fuss about the HR30 and prefer the HR31.. just for looks. But this is just my opinion. Everybody's varies.
  25. Yeah, I imagine by now they have a batch processing method going .. so guess the 20th or so of each month is kind of busy for them. From what I hear they are fairly understaffed thanks to our wonderful government. So its not always their fault.
