  1. i noticed the grunt increased mid-range and it seemed to have a lot more go.. its worthwhile doing.. and for the price especially. Seemed to idle a bit rougher after that, but that may have been the new tune. Unfortunately I didn't get a dyno read out to quantify anything in any proper terms. hahaa.. its a bit like that.. i got over the whole car, sold it, and now to build a fast one
  2. ok *cough* i get the hint *cough* lol.. more than happy to..
  3. I mean 12 months interest free on a $8k plasma would only be what.. $800 a month? and you don't have to worry about paying for it for another 12 months! plenty of time to leave the country.. rob a bank, etc
  4. waiting game sucks.. now i am probably going to have to go through it all for another car.. I just can't wait for the endless delays, the endless excuses and everything else. oh hum.
  5. I was talking in no speak english good if he didn't want to turbo the existing engine.. a straight swap with one of the RB2x's was the other option
  6. ahhh ... kids well its nice that EVO's VII's are available to many I guess.. Pretty good price too I guess, around mid-40's landed compared to mid-60's + onroad costs for an VIII (although the later is brand new).
  7. matt dropped by earlier.. its like the SAU "drop by" support centre
  8. yup.. still at work.. sitting here.. waiting for customers.. dum de dum
  9. yeah, they should be able to sort it out.. they can just go a bit out of tune after a while.
  10. yeah.. i am sure many are honest.. i'm not saying they all do it..
  11. yeah.. mine was like that for a while.. then autotek tuned it up pretty nicely.. then got to drive it for about 2 weeks like that.. then sold always the way.
  12. i drive 2 hours a day 5 days a week... i need my day of rest gotta come back down here sunday too ..
  13. 2.6L twin turbo first month of production import from August this year * has problems, should go cheap * .. start price 50,000 yen .. SOLD for 719,000 yen (car cost only) and still sold for $9k.. lol
  14. yeah.. i think most ppl go through that phase at first "oh my car does xxx", but get over it a bit over time. so yours is still having some probs?
  15. wish i could go watch.. but going to do absolutely sweet FA tomorrow.. on my day of rest.. once i get some small stuff fixed on my old car i'll take it out on the track i reckon.. why not its not like I would be devestated if i wrote it off
  16. no shit.. its just the young'uns who take it to "kens dyno tuning" and they tweak the graphs to make it look like they're just tuned it up to give big figures.. shootout mode - add another 10% or so.. .. whatever other tricks they use like temp correction, etc (?) 10%.. etc. Or they just tune for peak power somewhere around 150km/hr which isn't really of much use to anybody. 1995 and later ECU can go a bit better before requiring aftermarket management.. but still.. Mine got anywhere from 165rwkw to 190rwkw the few times it was stuck on different dynos. Pretty much exactly the same setup...
  17. lol//
  18. RB30DET doesn't exist as an actual production motor... But what you *can* do is swap some parts off an rb30ET (the VL turbo engine) to give you a hybrid of sorts. You don't even have to swap the pistons with good tuning and sticking with low boost. Its worthwhile on a budget if you know your engine is still in good condition. Otherwise things like the RB20DET, RB25DE or RB25DET bolt fit in fine, however using the gearbox off one the latter two requires some slight mods (tailshaft and mounting)
  19. :werd: I agree there... But those that say "the car is faster therefore its better able to "power out" of accidents" I think is a bit naiive.. if you're in a situation where you are relying on the "power" of a car to be safely overtaking, stopping, or anything else I think you shouldn't be in the situation in the first place! There are speed restrictions here? so those 18 year olds flying down the M1 each day to/from work in their 1.5L hatches coffins are only going 90 ? hmm -- if you went 90 down the m1 you'd get rammed off i think. Speed restrictions I think are pretty silly as to me it just makes other motorists angry and the chance of doing something stupid (even if its the other drivers impatience) are increased.
  20. But do any of us really? whether we're a p-plater on not.. so a bit of a dead argument there. Anyhow, didn't this chick get caught *again* driving a 300zx this time?? I can't believe how stupid or pig-headed (and full of herself) this chick must be!!
  21. R32 should bolt straight up .. pretty much the same as the r31 ones.. r33 box is larger and will require different tailshaft and bracket made up. Then again, good for a lot more power.
  22. lack of power? 165rwkw is a pretty good figure running just S-AFC and stock RB20DET turbo (I assume?) on rb20det.
  23. you ROCK!!!
  24. Whatever happened clear case of mechanical screw up on their behalf. I don't quite know how they'd try and wrangle out of it. but if they do try, get an independent inspection ASAP (like today) by another party or two, get it in writing. And if you need to take legal action against the mechanic involved, this will help.
  25. I have got around 135-140psi across the range on an rb25det engine.. which was otherwise fine.. factory is meant to be 172psi or thereabouts. I think it can just be the guage - mine was like $70 i think its always shown pretty low on the few engines I've tested it on.
