  18. if you're going overseas.. why are you bothering ? Sell whats left of the old RB25DET, whack another standard RB25DET and be done with it. RB30 bottom end is only if you're going to get serious about a big HP motor, and you're not keeping it anyhow. Yes, it will be harder to get an engineers for an RB30 bottom end, and also EPA testing and the rest. You'll need the engineers to be able to change ownership of the car.
  19. cya.. how much boost were you running to pop the turbo? or did it just poo itself by being old?
  20. What he said pretty much I installed mine just the other weekend. You will need to drill some extra holes in the metal bracket to bring it forward to fit flush with the front of the surround. Can take a bit of careful drilling to work out the exact distance it needs to come forward. For the speaker wiring use proper speaker wire (or the ones included with the aftermarket speakers, depending on how fussy you are)..punch through the rubber with the rest of the door loom, again, punch through the rubber grommet in the body, feed the wires through.. Remove the kick panel, and feed the wire down until you can pull it through. Run under the carpet to behind the stereo. On the LHS i had to unbolt the ECU to feed the wire through. Might take a photo and post it up to show you how mine turned out.
  21. I'd probably get your old crappy piece of thin board out that passes as the floor (which warps when wet), buy a bit of good MDF, trace it out cut it with the jigsaw and get yourself a nice solid floor - $15 maybe. Then can just bolt it there now worries. The other option is to build the same for the vertical battery partition thingo - that is another common mount point. Again, get some nice MDF, cut to shape, and maybe carpet it(bunnings has cheap and reasonable carpet by the metre, grey or black). Then mount your amp vertically. Otherwise if you want to get fancy with perspex, etc you can probably either DIY with a bit of work and knowhow, otherwise call in an expert.
  22. man..whip out the ps2 or something, grab a beer or two (even if it is only 10:30am!) crank the stereo.. i'd be in heaven. dont rub it into poor james.
  23. Well they been doing that since 1979 or whenever the VB (how appropriate) commodore was hatched. Each year they change a little, but not in leaps. They're never going to go the radical approach in case they stuff it up. Just look at what happened to Ford for a while with the AU, etc -- nearly sunk them. I reckon they new Ford's look a stack more tougher than the current commodore. Probably better car too.
  24. jason: yup, maybe.. i'm at a computer.. wow how strange
