Other states in Australia have a much more relaxed policy and people aren't dying all over the place on the roads. There are cameras, cops and everything else but its not so Nazi as I found in VIC. And the thing is no more lives really are lost in % of population as a result of a 10% tollerance. Its all about money, thats all it is. And the Victorian government would basically unable to support its funding for hospitals, schools, etc without this revenue so it stays.

I wouldn't have too much qualms about changing oils.. because its already happened probably about 50 times before over in Japan and maybe here. Changing brand/types every change probably isn't a good idea, but just switching now and then is gonna be fine. I don't think its one of those "nooo, don't EVER do it" because you can't really avoid it occasionally. I'm not even sure what the reason would be either? Its always best to send off in printed form anyhow to any beaurocratic department. Emails to them are often just "fluff" and not for any official function. Many beaurocrats aren't the smartest bunch. Writing an email would be pointless for something like this to get your opinion heard.. thats why i sent a letter.

...you snooze you loose Defect is generally 1 point I believe if they choose to put "x points" on the defect statement you have lost points. Usually they just write out the defect and no points are awarded to you, the luuuuuuuuky driver. VIC has gone to a lovely 6 point system for p-plates, and basically if you breach that now you could almost be on your p's forever. In fact i probably already would be myself if that rule existed when i was a young lad. move interstate.. they don't even have to display p plates as such up here - truly!

Depending on who you speak to, one intake modification is fine. That may either be pod or intercooler, or I guess whatever else is classified as an "intake modification" It will not have to be boxed but does have to be secured. When i lived there my car passed a few police inspections and also a full EPA test. But that doesn't necessarily mean you won't get picked up for it. Lovely system isn't it?
