  2. dum de dum..

    Victoria.

lol.. whatever you do ..DON'T SPEED! its just not worth it, and unless you know the locations of all the fixed cameras getting a speeding fine on a holiday suxors. Even on the highway or whatever, its police city. i got plenty of photos of melbourne its not so great.. lol.
  4. go look in the QLD area and do a search.. Gavin Wood is the best in SE QLD apparently, and will do that.. cheers
  5. tell him he's dreamin!
  6. around $13-$15k should be fine.. Quite a few people such as new p-platers etc go for the n/a due to it being slightly cheaper for insurance, and it may be only what their parents allow. Thing is new imports of R33 aren't really coming in too much, so the prices are staying static. Problem is there are plenty of R33 GTS-T for around $18k.. so when people can pay $3k to get a turbo version usally that is where they are going to go.
  7. hmmm.. problem is anybody can photochop these days. Think it would be hard to actually develop a money making business out of it. I remember showing my mates about 5 years ago how you could "pretend" stick wheels on a car in like Photoshop 3 to see what it looked like. They were so impressed But now its kind of "anybody can do it". The best would have been developing a system by which you could sell to the mag wheel shops, or paintshops how the car would look. But I think they already have that now.
  8. just get a nicely modified 180rwkw R33 gts-t for the price range you're looking at...
  9. There are a few places in Bayswater, and also Ringwood. I got one of my guards resprayed at a place in Baysie, did a good job of matching and the like and only took 2 days to get it back..
  10. Hence what i was saying: the most intelligent way to do it is to get a car for low 20's, with that $10k thrown at it already. Thats if you want a car with a view to modifying it further. Even if you don't like the mods (and if it has been modified from japan generally they do it fairly intelligently anyway), you can take them off and sell them.. only costs a few $hundred at most to change over to what you do want. By the time you've fitted from scratch an intercooler, EBC, coilovers, bodykit, some decent induction, some nice rims, exhaust, stereo and whatever else ($10k+ anyway) you're probably bored of it already and will want a GTR. With the amount of hours you spend, dealing with workshops, getting it all tuned, ironing out small problems, having it off the road, finding the best deal, researching what you want and whatever else, by then the enthusiasm goes.
  11. One thing that can make a big difference on an old car can be an ancient cat converter. After a few years become totally clogged and restrict flow.. my brothers ancicent XF went from slug to hero just with cat-converter change. Was at 300,000km or so too
  12. no this was another guy.. who took photos of him crashing the car, then tried to pretend it wasn't him driving it when people told him he was a knob jockey.
  13. Just reading an article in this morning's paper. Apparently one the upcoming Alpha Volta (which will be powered by Toyota's performance hyrbrid technology) will have a hybrid-electric 3.3L 6 cylinder pumping out 300kw and performance of 0-100km in 4.06 seconds.. and able to push 700km from a 52L tank. Now wouldn't we all like *that* from our current skylines? So seeing as that will be a similar benchmark for the GTR (if not higher), its easily possible with current technology. So i guess my concerns for "can it be done" are out the window. 400kw and 8L / 100km anybody? Here is a short writeup of the Toyota technology.. some parallels it looks like with what Nissan is planning: The Hybrid Synergy Drive is a series/parallel system which uses two powerful electric motors and a highly efficient petrol engine in tandem. This significantly improves low to mid-speed acceleration, braking performance and fuel efficiency and minimises carbon dioxide emissions. Using an electric motor at the rear provides the car with four-wheel drive capability. In addition to the dual power sources, the system also features a generator and a high-performance nickel-metal hydride battery. A power split device combines and re-allocates power from the engine, motors and generator, according to where it is needed in the drivetrain, and a power control unit governs the high-speed interaction of the system’s components. For the driver, a single gearshift on the dashboard engages the drive system, which operates as a seamless, continuously variable transmission. In the course of any journey, the Hybrid Synergy Drive system will operate in several different modes to maximise the all-round efficiency of the vehicle. The motor driving the rear wheels introduces four-wheel drive performance at appropriate times, such as when starting up, accelerating, turning and driving on slippery surfaces. Improvements to the efficiency of the V6 petrol engine and a transmission system with a torque-increasing deceleration gear, allied to a more efficient regenerative braking system, all serve to optimise the Hybrid Synergy Drive system’s energy management qualities. Note specifically: -- basically the manual as we know it is pointless in a vehicle such as this. As the torque is continually being adjusted internally via the electronically controlled balance of the electric and petrol engines. Basically applying a traditional manual gearbox technology would give more harm to performance than not.
  14. i hate people that get obsessed with it though.. the other day I was waiting 10 minutes just to get into the servo to get fuel (as i was right on zero) because every mother and their dog was trying to save a few measly $bucks on fuel as it was probably cheap or something. What - do we live in Russia or something and have to cue for our petrol now? On a full 60L of fuel a 5c/L difference makes a massive $3 difference. Not sure about everybody else, but that gets me about 500km (fair bit of driving) and lasts about an average week. $3saved x 52 weeks a year= $156.. wow, call me jesus and send me home to mama, but the whole shopping around, driving from station to station trying to get the cheapest deal, queing for petrol.. ba, its not worth $156 a year. /semi-rant over
  15. Yup, i remember the days well.. giving the old VR and VS V6's a decent run as well.. By about VT and VX they started to get faster in the 6's. But considering some 10 years difference you have to wonder sometimes. Yup, you always could give it a good squirt and slide the ass out a bit if you were bored. Did it often ahhh, the memories.. I seriously want another one as a 2nd car, and maybe while i transgress betweeen the R33 and whatever other sports thingo i get.
  16. er ok... it picks up the "sound" of the car to come up with a power figure.. okkkkkk.. :slap:
  17. ...i already don't like the sounds of it and it'll be probably 2 years until we see the final version.
  18. lol.. thats why i created this thread 'cause that one was degrading into a wasteland anyhow.. But you can go dig it if you like mindflux. door + truck.. months ago, i just haven't had a chance to get it painted as I've been too poor. But things are looking up so will get it done in a couple of weeks.
  19. there is some dick who wrote off a 400rwkw.. but he's not worth bothering with.. i think it got deleted because he's a f.uckstick who posted on here then never replied to any emails or pm's about it..
  20. there are those that'll pay for the b.s. of custom plates and those that really have better things to spend their money on .. but i'm sure you'll find a buyer for em, but just don't expect to be making a fortune on plates alone. THere are better investments..
  21. Supercheap Auto stocks things like pads for import skylines, and as people have been saying, places like Kmart even have things like the oil, oil filters, fuel filters, etc that you'll need. Many of the parts are in fact common with other nissan models, and across skylines, so usually are pretty readily available. Nissan Australia, yep, can get stuff but its usually very expensive compared to other sources, and everytime I've spoken to them they've said "hmm, don't have it here, gotta get it from Japan, x weeks" so usually I turn to other sources. For 2nd hand parts and panels, plenty of wreckers specialise in skylines and similar imports, again not difficult. Usually if you just wait on here for a month or so you'll find what you're after as well for a good price -- much cheaper than wrecker prices. To be honest, when it comes down to it, parts are no more expensive than any other car out there that age. In fact, sometimes cheaper!
  22. yeah, one thing that always turned me off a little if i was to ever get an R33 GTR. I'd just have to look at the same damn interior again and in a way the similarities would still be there. And with so many GTS-T out there "looking" like a GTR these days, from a distance who can tell these days? For that reason I'd probably have to go R32 GTR or something like that. Even if its older, least its not another damn R33 I'd take the GTS-T that has $10k thrown at it, that you can pick up for $21k..
  23. very good analogy! its basically how the system works... and why insurance premiums are so high. Why drivers who have had 10 years driving experience and no accidents are still paying well over $1000 for the privelege, then you have to wonder though. Effectively we're subsidising those that do have crashes. And they wonder why when a young guy on here has an "incident" some of the older guys jump on their case. and like nmcmahon83 correctly says.. theft on a 3rd party policy will NOT cover full value of the car.
  24. yeah.. sometimes its a real hassle driving the liner.. just worried some shit is going to happen to it all the time.. speed bumps, fools who can't drive, etc. Ends up saving you money in the end really. By the time you look at the petrol costs, general wear and tear on the skyline, and everything else over a year or so, it doesn't really cost you much.
  25. lol - it would be.. yeah, i was just thinking of buying a car for around $1000 that can get me around when i don't want to drive the skyline, and if i'm driving to the coast a few days a week. Will also come in handy when its at the panel shop being made to look sex again.
